oldschoolreddevGood luck Red Devils! Looking forward to a great season!
-
reddevil90This team might have been a pain in the rear for the coaches. But i will bet they make the coaches and the great city of Campbell Proud...
-

I wouldn't expect to see many, if any posts from Mineral Ridge fans on this forum. It was the same way last year. If Campbell guys weren't posting, there would be no posts at all.reddevil90;871568 wrote:Bump for a good time!!! BigT761What's everyone thing the stretegy will be for this weeks game let's go devils
-
BTrevRun the ball... get Reyes a few passes, maybe like 12-15... but mostly run the ball... 40+ runs wouldn't surprise me, between JHughes, SDR, Reyes, and the JV RBs...
-
OhioCampbell definatly won't have to open up the Zetts riddle book they should get through this one with a run attack no need to throw the ball 15 times in a highschool game against a much lower opponent.
-
BTrevThey won't need to... but would it hurt? Why not let him throw it around a few times, and let him get his feet wet?
-
OhioAround 8 -10 throws would be good to get his feet wet. But a young QB you dont wanty him getting out of control and turn it over early cause then you could have to battle all night.
-
TheQGood luck to the Devils this year. We'll miss seeing one of our old Mahoning Valley rivals. Gotta pick the Red Devils in a blow out.
-
BigDean1Judging by what I have read and heard prior to the season, Campbell Memorial should win this game. Campbell's team speed on defense should be a factor in this game although the Red Devils must be wary of over pursuing. Campbell's size up front on both sides of the ball and speed at the skill positions will also be a factor. Ridge is not likely to see another team on its schedule with the speed and athletes Campbell will throw at them. Ridge is small and young this year. I am looking forward to Friday. Good Luck Campbell.

Agree they had the football preview on the vindy blunder! Oh i mean Blitz. And they said they like Ursuline in DIV 5 and They Like Campbell In div 4 lol. I swear the vindy sports writers are really not caring all that much if they cant figure out what div each team is in....BigDean1;871748 wrote:I wouldn't expect to see many, if any posts from Mineral Ridge fans on this forum. Ridge is in a tough game here. Reyes will only throw i would imagine like 5 to 8 passes. He is very very accurate and seems to know when to tuck it and run. Ja'les and Shawndale Ray will mix it up in the backfield. It should be a good game to see some jvs getting there feet wet. Campbell has not had a defence that allowed them to play the jv's in a very long time... This might be a good year for them to get in a few plays!!! Campbell is faster and stronger then they have been in there recent success. -
BTrevI guess 15 passes would be a bit much. I think 8-10 would be alright. Especially if sprinkled in over 2 1/2 or 3 quarters. The sure thing is though, Campbell will run the ball no less than 40 times... probably more than that, like 45-50 times.

Ja'les had 300+ yards running the ball last year against Girard. He had one of the most prolific games by a Campbell running back since Patton and Adams. Adams Ran over 300+ yards against Struthers in 1991 and only did it in 3 full quarters. He sat out a full Quarter with a gash in his hand. Adams could not be stopped period in that game. If he would have played the full 4 quarters he and i have no doubt would have had 400 yards or very very close to it. But Ja'les now holds the record and Campbell only tried one pass that whole game. SO if the running game works i don't see to many passes. Zetts does not believe in giving the playbook a early workout if no need be. But this is Reyes first game and i cant imagine him not throwing the ball to Patton and Rushton. Reyes has lit it up at all the passing scrimmages that Campbell participated. and he showed great poise against Springfield and East. Campbell might be young in areas but they are very talented and a few games under the belt for the Newbies is going to do nothing but make them stronger as the season goes on. But they need to stay healthy on offence cause there is not much depth on the line. -
omemorialhighcampbell will throw the ball alot. mark my words. how did meet the players night go?

I believe they will too. I am impressed with the Reyes kid. He's got good poise and does not get rattled. He's got quick feet and will make plays himself if he has to. Throwing the ball will keep defenses honest. Teams will not be able to put 9 men in the box expecting a running play every down. -
BTrevI know all about the Girard game last year. I watched it from start to finish. 58 runs vs. 1 pass. Campbell ran out of the Stacked I for most of the night. In a game like that though, you do what's working, and you do it until the other team stops it. There's no wiggle room.
Campbell can afford to play around with some passes, as they'll likely score early and often in other facets of the game.
Zetts won't pass enough to put the game in jeopardy, but he'll pass enough to make Reyes feel comfortable. If he's as good as everyone says, Zetts will utilize him in some capacity... and if he's really good, he'll be able to handle 12+ passes without throwing the game away. -

If you are a Salem alum, we'll miss the Quakers too. Ashtabula Edgewood replaced Salem on our schedule. That's a big step down in competition. -

That was good coaching. The Campbell game plan was to run the ball to control the clock and to keep Girard's potent offense off the field. It worked. I don't think Girard was expecting Campbell to come out in a power I formation though. -
oldschoolreddevGood Luck Red Devils! Hopefully both teams come away fro this game injury free. Does South Range and JFK play in Warren on Saturday?

Yes, that game is at Mollenkopf. JFK has a lot of kids back so this could be an interesting game.oldschoolreddev;873346 wrote:Good Luck Red Devils! Hopefully both teams come away fro this game injury free. Does South Range and JFK play in Warren on Saturday? -
