  Big Red did play St X a number of years ago. X went undefeated that year but only beat Big Red 7-6.

  That was 1977. St. X was 6-4 that year and finished 5th in the GCL (the GCL had 6 members back then which was was the curren 4 plus Roger Bacon and Purcell). Moeller was going through their incredible run of winning state every year and being perhaps the best team in the country under Coach Faust. I know GCL runner up Elder beat St. X 38-0 that year and the Bombers only mustered up one GCL win. This was the typical season result for the Bombers during that period of time as Moeller, Elder and Purcell ruled the roost during that era.
  
  Other than winning the GCL a few years in the late 30s and 40s, St. X has only been a power for the past decade. They have two state titles and that was in 2005 and 2007.

  I was at that game while a kid with my grandmother ..hence the reason for the matchup ..and we stunk that year and barely lost and they went 10-0.. I believe that was the game we had our new big screen introduced 1977

  I specifically remember St X was 10-0 that year look it up they played Moeller in the first round of the playoffs and got clobbered 42-0 research it
