thePITmanParker Carmichael WILL be the QB in a year or two, IMO. But this year, I don't think so. On the other hand, if he ends up being the best QB option we have this season, I don't think Coach Lee would be afraid of putting him in the position right away. I agree with Ringz that Reynolds is not a passing QB; and Coach Lee wants to throw the ball, so... If Parker is good enough to play the QB position right now, it would allow Drake to move to another position where he can get in space and use his athleticism similar to his older brother. But is Parker ready yet? I guess we'll see. Haha. I think he would be OK and would learn fast, but my opinion doesn't matter. He is definitely mature for his age and has the attitude and mentality you want in a QB.
Ringz, with your knowledge of the kids coming up, I'm curious who you would use as our running back(s) this season. I'm assuming we'll stay in a similar offensive attack as last year, being pass-heavy and having mostly single-back formations. Losing Carr, Gessel, Polen, and Carmichael from last year's squad really depletes our varsity-tested RB's. Who fills in?
As for our offensive line, how many returning starters (and their names) do we return from last year's team? -
THE4RINGZPossible RB's. Luke Boreman, Danny Fields
O-Line, Projected: Halverson, Zody, Hamlin, Cicconnetti, and Young. -
BearBoy69What about the d line ringz? They're only returning wadkins and fought? I could also see wadkins on the o line instead of halverson IMO

thePITmanOur 7-on-7 dates are as follows:
Thursday, 7/14, vs Smithville @ Home, 6:00pm
Saturday, 7/16, @ Bucyrus, 9:30am
Tuesday, 7/26, vs Wooster @ Home, 6:00pm
I think I should be able to make it to all 3 of these, so I'm very excited. The Bucyrus 7-on-7 was lots of fun last year. Lots of teams, fields, and football. There was also a lineman challenge going on at the same time, so it was fun catching some of that in between games. I can't believe how fast the season is approaching!
Keep working hard, Titans! -

Defense should be solid, they also return Zody at MLB. I like Wadkins at nose, I think he is quick off the ball and makes nice plays (wrestlers make great linemen), Chico and Reynolds can also fill some holes on the line or at another OLB position (Reynolds especially). Backfield wise I thnk they have the cover peole they need, some seem like they might be untested but did get some varsity time last season.BearBoy69;813410 wrote:What about the d line ringz? One of my goals this season was to attend the Bucyrus Camp, I will be out of the state on business this Wednesday through Sunday so I will miss the first two 7 on 7's. Which is a real bummer. Keep me informed if you will Pitman. Please?
Oh and Pitman, don't forget the sunscreen this year. -
Mr. RussellAs a Smithie, I always enjoy the Triway 7 on 7. Hopefully some question marks are answered after tonight, I look forward to hearing your opinions on the scrimmage, whoever is in attendance.

footballnutDo you think that Triway will have enough computer points to make the playoffs with losses to Orrville and Manchester?
-
THE4RINGZ
Ha Ha, you are assuming they lose to both those teams. Assumptions = you know the rest.footballnut;830424 wrote:Do you think that Triway will have enough computer points to make the playoffs with losses to Orrville and Manchester? -
footballnutThey'll definitely lose to Orrville. I shouldnt assume with Manchester. They won 12 games last year but did lose several excellent skill players. I think the rebuild for Triway is too big in 1 year. They probably wont be able to slip up too much with their schedule.
Does anyone know anything about CVCA. Uttleys gone. He will be tough to replace -
Mr. 300I think Triway has a lot of, holes to fill. PC is pretty small to be playing QB as a freshman, so don't think that will happen. They had a 6'6" (or so) qb at freshman level last year, but not very agile or a strong arm. Don't know if he's in the mix or not? The frosh last year we very weak, so they'll only be two classes to come up a core group for the Titans this year.
I'll go with West Holmes in the opening game this year. Knights will still be very young, but much improved over last year. Line play will be their biggest concern, so maybe wishfull thinking on my part. LOL We will see ya'll at Knights Stadium this year. -

They lost to both last year and made it in, and have made it in 3 years in a row with 2 losses. So yes they could and maybe with 3, and possible with 4 as Perry made it in region 13 last year with 4 losses, so it will come down to how well the opponents that you do beat finish record wise. It always helps if your league does well in the nonleague games.footballnut;830424 wrote:Do you think that Triway will have enough computer points to make the playoffs with losses to Orrville and Manchester? -
THE4RINGZI do believe the QB question has been answered.
-
Old Rider...and what is the answer to the QB question?...Carmichael?... Or that tall kid someone mentioned? If either of those guys are the answer, our two senior inside linebackers will like to hear that...as well as our D-coordinator!!!
Good luck this season Triway! -

Lane threw all but 3 or 4 passes in the varsity 7-on-7 last night. That included 4 possessions of 10 plays each. Those other 3 or 4 passes were thrown by Parker. Lane did well, I thought. Definitely some first-day jitters. I agree with Mr. 300 that Parker is pretty small for a varsity QB right now, but he threw some very nice balls on the JV side last night and looked like he knew what he was doing. He will be a QB for us some day. This year? Who knows. If he does get ready and get better real quickly and Coach Lee decides to go with him, that would allow us to put Lane at some kind of WR position, which would increase our depth immensely. (I already like our receivers Bertsch, Kearney, & Copley). Lane was the kid I predicted as our early-season QB, so it looks like we have not encountered any surprises.. yet. But there are lots of camps and practices between now and the first game to let Coach Lee groom and improve all his kids. As for the "tall kid" that people are mentioning, that is Kinney who I did not see at all last night. My guess is he is either on a mission trip or got moved to the line and was down over the hill. Either way, he's a great kid that will work hard and contribute wherever he is. I'm not even sure if he's playing this year, to tell you the truth.
Early on we had some drops, but our kids seemed to get into the groove as the night went on. In the 3 possessions where the offense spotted the ball, Triway scored 4 TD's and threw 2 INT. Smithville scored 1 TD. (The first 10 plays both teams just went from the 40 each time). Smithville will be a running team, though. After talking with some Smithville fans and reading some stuff during the off-season, it sounds as if they are going to run, run, run and be very good at it (as always)! So, our defense did very well (great coverage forcing many "sacks"), but also, that will not be what Smithville does this year; so take it for what it's worth.
I thought for a first passing camp our kids did okay. Our defensive backfield looks athletic and played well. Our linebackers (Schuler, Reynolds, Faught) did well without Zody, who was with the linemen last night. I'm excited to see how we do against much stiffer competition this Saturday. It was nice to get out and see some football, put some names with some bodies (since we can't see their faces!), and chat with some friends.
Keep working hard, Titans! -
OneBuckeyeOk, I need a projected 2 deep roster. I don't follow enough to understand these position battles and how young/old the team is. Anyone up for it?
-
thePITmanI thought we did pretty well at the Bucyrus 7-on-7 today. We went 3-1 in pool play, winning our pool and earning a first-rount bye. Then we won our first tournament game but lost in a tough contest against Bucyrus A, who also knocked Ada out of the the tournament. So, on the day we went 4-2 and outscored opponents a total of 104-59. I thought all our receivers did a good job and provided threats all across the field - sideline to sideline, short & deep - and our depth came through as a wide variety of kids got in the scoring action early and often. Drake did a good job at QB, and Carmichael/Burkhart got a few good reps in early on, as well. Our DBs for the most part looked athletic and reacted to the ball, but there were obviously some improvement opportunities on both sides of the ball. I am really encouraged after today, though!
-
thePITmanWow. It's been almost a month! How is the team doing? Anything good coming out of 2-a-days? Go Titans!
-
THE4RINGZFirst test or the team tomorrow. Usually a good match up with Wooster, looking forward to seeing what this new crop of Titans can do.
-
Mr. 300August 26th can't get here soon enough. Can't wait to see them Purple freaks go down this year.
-
1_beastMr 300....were you at the Waynedale/Tuslaw/WH scrimmage? If so perhaps you could shed some light from your viewpoint on the WCAL thread!
-
Mr. 300Done did it.
-
thePITmanI wasn't able to make it last night, but it sounds like after a slow start we really started to click and showed some good signs. Here's to continuous improvement for the Titans! Thanks for the updates, Ringz.
When is the chicken BBQ? I thought it was before/during the Wooster/Northwestern scrimmage. -

Why is WH young every season? Aren't they returning many starters from last season and isn't this junior class supposed to be loaded? Sorry to but in on Triway thread, but it seems every year WH is called young. -
THE4RINGZPit the chicken bbq was Sunday 8/14 from 11-2. Looks like they had a good turn out. I got there around 1:15 and they were outof some food which is an encouraging sign. The chicken was the best ever. Sorry you had to miss it.
I think WH will be much improved this season over last. Second year under the new coach, maybe that is why they are referred to as "young". Aren't some of the skill position players underclassmen? It should be an interesting game Week One.
