So glad you have a whopping 239 posts since Nov 2009 yet feel comfortable trolling here and soliciting money for your booster club.
  • skank
He only has 239 posts, but yet they have been quality posts....do you think out of your 5,122, we could find 239 quality posts? I think not.
  • sonofsam
Big Red having money issues Admiral? Or are you trying to recruit money just like you recruit other stuff?
  • war_admiral
Funny Sept63, do you have a site such as rollredroll.com that sponsors Ohio Chatter on it's site as we do?

SOS, no money issues. We just like to treat our student/athletes to a quality education and facilities. OE student/athletes seem to enjoy the up-grades that surrounding school systems can't afford or are unwilling to support.

Skank, glad to see the Tigers back on the schedule. Let's hope it stays for years to come. Good luck in the coming season(EXCEPT WEEK 9). TIG....

I see where another "quality education" went to jail a few days ago... Should we compare wrap sheets from the two schools? How about students (or athletes for that matter) that have been involved in/or died from criminal activity? I guess the "booster work" ends once that quality education does...

See here you go again...why don't you follow the forum rules and stop trolling. Go post in the basement. This thread is positive.

Couldn't be, word on the street has it that Steubenville is only good at football.

    BR95,
Your welcome. Hope you'll contribute and make a few Booster meetings/functions. I think in the coming years you'll see a few changes in the Boosters. They're looking for younger members to get more involved. We have some very loyal/dedicated members that go above and beyond in raising funds for the athletic program. We need to recruit younger members to learn from the elder members and for the youth to add their skill sets to the Booster Club.

Please contact as many people about this info. Yearly memberships are only $10, but they can give what ever they want as often as they want. The club is also looking for volunteers for parking, 50/50 and game ball.

    Go Cards!
  • war_admiral
I'm not sure about that 4cards. He got Lil' Jimmy to look after now. You might be going the way of Jamie Sangouthai (Lamar Odom's BFF);)

Interesting that your booster club doesnt do anything for the wrestling team, baseball, track etc. just basketball and football? Seems odd?
  • war_admiral
We do support other sports. The bullet points are referring to major contributions by the club. Way to many smaller things to put on a PRIDE Drive e-mailer. The BRBC always helps when asked by other sports. Besides the other sports don't need major booster funds...the school provides them from the 6 figure revenue that the football program provides on a yearly basis.
The wrestling, baseball, softball, golf, track, soccer teams have the new indoor Multipurpose Athletic Facility http://youtu.be/O5kuTGp6DM4 The weight room is used by ALL student/athletes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t0WY2rbqng&feature=player_embedded

FYI, the Booster Club will be presenting a check to the school for 10 grand to help pay for uniforms for ALL sports.

All we have to compare is the state testing scores.

    That's your que War Admiral!

i just made my comment going off the flyer posted. If I were in that community, and saw that a particular sport my child(ren) competed in not mentioned...i would be less apt to contribute. Just sayin...
  • ManO'War
The Boosters pay for all the sports banquets and such, but as we all know, football pays the bills, so they also receive the most money.

That's why it is called the Big Red Boosters, not the Gridiron Club, Touchdown Club, or Pigskin Club, which some schools have.

This is true. Talked to a Big Red Track Coach recently. Wasn't very happy with the booster club. He said not much support. That came from a Big Red Track Coach...Don't shoot the messenger.
  • gamauter
Some coaches would never get enough support. As long as their equipment is good and they get their new uniforms what else does track need?

What is amazing is that your test scores are very good, yet it seems like a good few of them forget all about what they learned right outta high school. Or maybe those scores are omitted? Not sure, but either way the wrap sheet on your end keeps growing...
  • war_admiral
Funny, ever since I've been associated with the boosters they've supported all sports. Man O'War is correct. So when you see the HEAD TRACK coach standing behind that 10,000 check I wonder if that will be looked at as "support". But as you say, you only talked to him recently.

So that's rumor #1,435 (support lacking to other programs) shot down. When the article is in the HStar, I will be sure to post it for all to read.
  • ManO'War
Maybe his shot puts were rusty or something, but exactly what does the Booster Club have to buy the track team??

The school is responsible for all the equipment, so other than maybe giving them money for meals on roadtrips, there is not much else track needs.

The Boosters helping with uniforms is kind of going above the call of their normal functions.
  • war_admiral
I like how the Boosters see a need to gain younger members and give them a chance to contribute. Many of the members have been fund raising for many, many yrs. It is time for them to teach and train the younger members and guide them to success.
