holdingoutwar_admiral;776094 wrote:Funny, ever since I've been associated with the boosters they've supported all sports. Man O'War is correct. So when you see the HEAD TRACK coach standing behind that 10,000 check I wonder if that will be looked at as "support". But as you say, you only talked to him recently.
So that's rumor #1,435 (support lacking to other programs) shot down. When the article is in the HStar, I will be sure to post it for all to read.
Track coach also stated Track athletes can't go to track practice after school until thay lift for football first then they are released for tack practice. I suppose that's a rumor also? -
war_admiralYep rumor #1,436 click, click...BOOM....shot down. The weight program at Big Red is offered as a class. Just like many HS. The FB players take it during school and after school go right to track or whatever sport they play. Yeah I'm sure you talked coach J.K

I give the Big Red boosters a lot of credit, They are always raising money and the kids seem to be well taken care of when it comes to equipment and banquets. You can find a lot of boosters and alumni that are very involved with the school, even after leaving the area. sonofsam, you should just take a good look at your school and you will see why they have very few alumni or boosters that support that school, you have a school board that is not interested in anything but their own personal agenda and gain. Look at your sports programs and coaches that are in charge of them, you have coach dunlevy running the basketball program, in my opinion he is the best man around the valley when it comes to sports and is definitely a stand up guy who could coach anywhere but he chooses to stay there because he cares about the kids. The baseball program is pretty solid also with Cottis, a good guy and very respected in the valley, The football program is a joke, unqualified coaching staff including the head coach that should be an assistant on the staff but the school board likes the Mingo guys, Girls softball and Basketball are usually decent each year and that is a credit to the staff because the kids change each year. The track program is in shambles and has been for years, except for the girl that graduated last year, she was the only thing that helped the team, coaches are also unqualified but that situation is a whole different story that can not be talked about on the OC. The soccer program has been bad and you have to blame the coaching on that because they have had some pretty good kids come in to the program. The wrestling program has gone down hill some since the coach left for Big Red but their program has improved so it must be the coach that has helped Big Red. You are always quick to try and slam Big Red when they accomplish something that Creek has not but you can not believe that the reason Creek struggles is because of Big Red recruiting your kids, if you had more qualified coaches and a lot less politics being played by your school board, parents would want their kids to attend the Creek but until that happens you will continue to lose kids to Big Red, Parents are sending their kids to Big Red not only for sports but for the education. The grants that Big Red gets for their school are also available for your school to get also but you must have knowledgeable people looking and applying for them and not being afraid of the stipulations that the state can come in and audit the books to make sure where the money is being spent. -

Wow, What a nice friend you must be or are you just trying to cause problems for the Track Coach by telling people that he is going around talking bad about the school. Are you an unhappy parent or looking for a coaching job? -
war_admiralI don't think the track coach at Big Red has ANYTHING to worry about
-
war_admiralI just hope the surrounding schools won't need to drop sport programs or adopt pay for play.

Steubenville ranked among most efficient in Ohio
in providing non-instructional services, study says
Ohio Education Matters honors district as part of Ohio Smart Schools initiative
CINCINNATI– (MAY 24, 2011) – The Steubenville City School District is one of the most efficient school districts in the state in providing non-instructional services, outpacing other similar districts in operational costs, Ohio Education Matters announced today.
“Steubenville has shown that it can deliver quality services at a lower cost than most other districts in the state,” said Andrew Benson, Executive Director of Ohio Education Matters. “The taxpayers and residents of this community should be proud that their district takes seriously the best use of resources to benefit children.”
The rating stems from a report issued by Ohio Education Matters this year as part of its nine-month study of K-12 education called Ohio Smart Schools. That report, titled Benchmarking Ohio’s School Districts: Identifying districts that get more for their money in non-instructional spending, identified 135 school districts across Ohio that seem to get more for their money in central-office administration, school-level administration, food service, student transportation, and building maintenance and operations than other similar districts.
“School districts that are not as efficient as this best-in-class district should look to them to learn how they are doing more with less,” said Mr. Benson. “By spending less in these non-instructional areas and yet still meeting minimal quality standards, these districts are ensuring that more dollars are getting into its classrooms to help support students.”
In its report, Ohio Education Matters noted the following: read more http://www.ohiosmartschools.org/ -

war_admiralThe Booster Pride Drive, which is in it's 2nd week, is really doing well. A yearly membership is only $10 but nearly everyone that has donated has went above and beyond the $10 level. We thank everyone that has and will donate to the drive.
The drive will enable the Big Red Boosters to do such things like; donate $10,000 to the athletic programs or the scholastic scholarships every year to 2 students.
Keep up the support of the Boosters Big Red Nation.
As Always Roll Red Roll! -

Well just to be fair, girls don't play BASEBALL.
I find it funny though how alot of schools dream of the kind of support your fans provide, but are so bitterly jealous because they don't have it.
