Go Falcons, curious of your take on the scrimmage?
  • Red Rum
The Season is almost here. Thank God!!!!

GoFalcs--You have peeked my interest with that little teaser post. Did you consider the scrimmage a win, lose or draw?

Nut--The stuff I heard about the BR/NOR scrimmage pretty much echoes what you reported. Sounds like Air-Bobcat is flying high and Ground-Bobcat still needs tuning.

Syd--Calm down bud, you'll get used to the non football chatter, it tends to subside when there is actual football news to talk about (well, mostly) Since Husky QB options are now down to two, Who do you think gives the best opportunity for victory, the SR.? or the JR.?

Ringz & Beast--I third Bloodys nomination for wrestling post moderator. Since I know he holds FAB1 in such high regard, it just seems natural:rolleyes:

Pitman--I know this is probably already posted somewhere but I'm a lazy mf'er when it comes to reading. Are you doing a PAC pick'em contest?

    On week 1-
I think Hillsdale is going to slaughter the mounties. Norwayne will prevail against Wellington and Chippewa will lose. The rest of the games I'm still up in the air over. Any thoughts?

We will be starting two freshmen as well. Anyone that paid attention to the talent we lost would know that we aren't going to "impress" anyone.
However as the season rolls along, I really hope teams over look us. If we can stay healthy we could go 5-5.
This will be an off year, but what we have coming up will be fun to watch.

    Good luck Titans!!

Offense was decent but couldn't score in 3 red zone trips. Quarterback threw 3 or 4 picks and took a lot of sacks because the line was nonexistant. Also, Hooser suffered a severe condition so who knows when he'll be ok to return. They've got a lot to work on before next friday :/

not surprised. with their supid 5 wr no running back offense im not at all surprised the kid threw 3 picks. i cant stand what this guy is trying to prove at rittman! thats why a father shouldnt be coaching a son! its ridicoulous.

Definitely. It was just a scrimmage, so teams will often not use their whole playbook, offensively or defensively, or the coaches are still trying different combinations, or like you said, young kids are still getting their feet wet. We had two starters out last night as precaution (well, one started but had a little dinger and was done for the night). I hope Dalton's kids can improve and have a good season!

The turnout was not that good last year on any of the 3 sites, so I am not sure if I want to do one this year. Lots of work for only 10 people. Used to have 20+ each year.

I asked earlier this pre season if Rittman had the horse to run that O. Apprently it still needs some work. Numbers wise you have to have nice depth at the reciever position, and a quarterback who can deliver the ball. That ain't your grandfather's WCAL offense.

It goes away, no one wants to reveal too much, still getting players fine tuned. Trust me...most of the folks here know someone amongst the group..we are very helpful in texting updates to each other during the games and have good conversation. Some folks are just edgy right now....
Don't mind me, I am just mad I am not on the inside of the inside jokes...lol. In due time.....

Calm as the wind around here...I think both have attributes that if you could put them together they would be the best QB in the county...SR. can run the ball good but passes are all over the place. JR. can pick apart a defense with accuracy (if WR can hold the ball) but make him run and it looks like a baby giraffe trying to find it's way in mud.

At this point, I would have to go with the SR until he messes up. There is also another Soph. that is capable of running from the QB position besides the one that got hurt. Within the first 3 games, I believe we will have our answer...

sydfl: You will see this kind of stuff when every thing that can be said about football has been said at least twice. Also some of these posters seem to keep strange hours and I think that it affects them! LOL

The scrimmage started good for the Falcons with 3 tds in the first 10 plays from the forty vs. Crestviews 0. Ball control appeared as a problem though. Minnich and the other back were mostly contained by our D. I saw the first two series of the quarter play and had to leave. At that point Hillsdale appeared to have fallen asleep ( missed block, reads, tackles) and were just not organized. However Crestview was unable to take advantage. By was_that_it and the newspaper it appears that they came alive after I left and got some things working.
  • Mr. Russell
    Which Norwayne lineman got hurt?
  • was_that_it
Go Falcons, the 10 play series were pretty even...like you said. The quarter scrimmage Crestview held Hillsdale three and out the first two times we had the ball. Then we made some plays, long runs, couple pass plays, looked good. A regular season game with these two would be exciting, I would lean toward hillsdale in a regular season matchup. So maybe them falcons will be okay! :-)
  • Go Falcons
Meet the team tonight, 68 boys , but the band is still marching 86 plus flags.

Have heard the scrimmage was ended early after the Crestview senior back Montgomery was injured, not sure of severity.
  • Mr Miyagi
well 48 hours after our little debacle/misunderstanding/ I thought this would all be over, but evidently not. After a box full of wild negative pm's, emails , texts, personal attacks and phone calls from a couple of certain posters, I have decided to take a back seat for a while. I will not be posting on this thread for a while, I will still read the thread, but just sit on the sideline so to speak and will answer any pm's that want to talk FOOTBALL ONLY, (of course I will ignore some posters that cant handle humor in an honest mistake and take this internet thing way to seriously) and I will not respond to any other inquiries . I will be back eventually when the time is right, and I will not talk in the third person anymore.( it is my new "thang" ) I will show up on serious business from time to time but will not really converse with anyone, just maybe give my 2 cents and leave. I know I know " good riddance to Miyagi he took his ball and went home " but sometimes things just go to far and this thread is not worth it. Like I said I will be back after people have calmed down and let things rest but until then, Good luck to all WCAL this coming season and Triway too. May your season be injury free . And remember this is high school football that is all it is , this is not life or death, it is a time to come together as a team, overcome adversity and strive for a win. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose but it is never the end of the world , life goes on and the world keeps turning and hopefully high school football will leave you with some nice memories that make you smile when you think about them

I gotta throw a little credit to the Ashland Times-Gazette. I used to think of that publication as low grade toilet paper, but I have been impressed with their local football coverage so far. In the past couple weeks they have had articles on all or most of the Ashland area teams and have even been covering the scrimmages!
After reading todays recap of the Hillsdale/Crestview scrimmage and the reviews from GoFalcons & was_that_it......I'm afraid Northwestern might be in for a looooong night this Friday.

Sorry Syd & Red Royhole, but I'm not drinking the kool aid. I'm thinking 3-7 in 2011......possibly worse in the defense breaks down.

My official prediction on how this game and the season will go.......
Defense swarms to ball and keeps scores down in the 1st half....offense makes a habit of 3 and out.
Defense wears down......offense scores with 2 minutes left......
Final score......Opponent 27.....Northwestern....7 (except at Chippewa, Rittman & the total surprise upset game TBD.)

Note....I reserve the right to change my mind if they kick Crestviews a**

Note 2.....I doubt I'll be changing my mind.

I believe last year you referred to toilet paper as this?

  • Mr Miyagi
What was Miyagi thinking !!!!???? Miyagi aint goin no where. Miyagi says it is going to take a lot more than a box full pm's to make him leave. Miyagi on the sideline? Never!!!! Miyagi with no response ?? No way!!! Miyagi ignoring some posters ? Well maybe. Miyagi wait for things to calm down ? This place will never calm down !! Miyagi not talking in the third person ? Nope ! Miyagi is going to talk the way Miyagi is going to talk !! And what was this thing Miyagi was saying about winning and losing was not life or death ? Miyagi Cant believe Miyagi said that !!!! Miyagi says winning is the only thing baby !!
    1. Miyagi cant believe that he finally agrees on something with Bloody. NWN could be in for a long season.
    2. Miyagi doesnt agree w/football noot..... Norwayne doesnt even pass the ball....we dont have to !!!! Run right Run left Run middle......still score 10 times!
3 Miyagi says Beast is sandbaggin.......Bears just might roar!
4 OQB Miyagi supposes you too have a nephew that plays in WCAL somewhere, why else would you be here? :D (Just kidding now, a little humor ok? Dont go all Orrville on Miyagi alright?)
  • OQB
A matter of fact I do.....2 cousins and 2 Brother in laws.
  • Mr Miyagi
:D Now now OQB Boy. Miyagi knows you are down on the WCAL but you have 2 brothers in law s that play for the WCAL ? Are you saying your sisters are married to some WCAL players? Miyagi says no fair editing but Miyagi will give you a chance to rephrase
  • OQB
Now now Miyagi...my better half has to two brothers playing in the WCAL. haha, don't jump to such quick conclusions.
  • Mr Miyagi
Miyagi says YOU ARE RIGHT OQB!!!!! Miyagi jumped to conclusion. Miyagi would have never thought you had a better half. Miyagi begs forgiveness
