Yes, but the neighbors would complain in the Spring about corn sprouting below their windows. :)

What is this thread about, again?

    Oh, yes, the WCAL!

The More You Know: My mother graduated from Smithville HS back in 1944. She has a brother who is the father of a girl that married Larry Kolic. You Smithies would know that that girl's brother, Joel, was a teammate of Kolic, in the backfield. And that good guy had a couple of sons that are some pretty good players, too!
  • Mr Miyagi
Miyagi is up early today to start to prepare the family dinner ...........24 lb turkey, oyster stuffing ,mashed potatoes rolls, the list goes on but Miyagi would like to say to all the WCL posters, have a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!! We all have a lot to be thankful for........Do not eat to much Bobcats !!!!

  • Go Falcons
Happy Thanksgiving to all those on the OC.

***2 days till showtime. Weather looking awesome. God willing, if we're still vertical & suckin' wind....we'll be there. ROLL CATS!

    Thanksgiving sucks......

Hosting the wifes family....again.....possibly the most pathetic, expensive wine drinking, BMW driving, living beyond their means, acting like they're rich bunch of tools that walk the planet.

The real rub is that I'm paying for it all.......AGAIN!!!!!!!

This holiday should be renamed "Thanks-taking"

Oh well, at least I've got football & plenty of vicoden I stole from Miyagi. That should dull my pain.

P.S....Miyagi, your knee will be fine. I needed the vicodens much more than you. Don't be a wussy, just take advils & mad dog 20/20.

P.S.S.....Red Rums wife, feel free to come on over and show my wife this post. I welcome it.

I hear ya. Been there with the "in"...grates many times over 13yrs. Had to quit. The "package deal" broke me. Your post makes me more thankful for my m-wave turkey pot pie today. Count your blessings. It can always be worse. Sometimes, i even miss 'em a little. Shhhhhh. GO CATS!

Fondly, I recall being the victim of a drive by egging one halloween ages ago. Parked myold BelAir on the side st. in front of my girlfriends house. While i was "busy" inside, some som-bitch whipped an egg at my car. A helpless stationary target incapable of returning fire. Where's the sport in that? Cowards. Anyway, it had a small wing window that stayed open @1" bc I had locked myself out & pried it open. Mighta' been Wallaces' gr-pa(honor the thread)bc the throw was perfect. The shell was stuck to the outside glass, but the business part of that friggin' egg slimed the windshield then went right down the defroster. OMG. Sterilized what i could get to,but the fatal shot had been fired. Only when frozen & couldn't see did i turn on the heat. Out of the bowels of hell came a growling, unholy stench that triggered uncontrollable gagging,& evacuation. First timers bailed b4 I'd get her stopped. Some swore they heard Linda Blair shrieking..,"Your mother sucks $%$#s IN HELL!" Loved that car. Lotta' firsts happened in that BelAir. Tried to sell it, trade her in. Nope, NO takers, but the reactions to that witches brew were....freakin' hilarious. Almost worth it. A junk yard finally bought her for parts...GO CATS! No 1 ever took credit.

    OldCat-
The "egging" you were a victim sounds an awful lot like the work of MIYAGI.
    Here's why-
    1. Miyagi has been egging cars since the early 80's
    2. Creston & Burbank were well within his strike range (for cat killing, egging & other various forms of hooliganism)
    3. He's a "som-bitch"
    4. He's a coward (still avoiding me)
    5. and here's the kicker, his mother really did blank blanks in blank.

I feel karma has been trying to tell you for years and now brought you to this OC thread for a reason. Miyagi did it.
Seek revenge on him, honor the memory of your BelAir. The scales of justice must be balanced.

    WCAL news-
I hear there's a football game Saturday night and Norwayne is playing. Go Cats!
also, congrats to Wallace & Harbour on their latest awards.

finally, I read in one of the papers that Loudonville sent a letter of interest to the WCAL.
I realize I'm in the minority but I love the idea of adding 4 teams and splitting into 2 divisions-

WCAL West: Hillsdale, Northwestern, Norwayne, Black River, Triway & Loudonville

WCAL East: Rittman, Chippewa, Smithville, Waynedale, Dalton & Tuslaw

    schedule could go like this-
First 3-- weeks play out of league games
Week 4-- rotating crossover division game
Weeks 5-- thru 9 play all teams in division
Week 10-- championship week (1st from WCAL east plays 1st from WCAL west, 2nd plays 2nd, 3rd plays 3rd and so on.)

    any thoughts?

Loudonville would fit well. What about just adding 2? Can't see tuslaw leaving their rivals. Br or triway more likely

I grew up just outside Kidron. What are street lights?

    How about big school/small school
Big: Chippewa, Northwestern , Norwayne, Triway, Tuslaw, Black River
Small: Hillsdale, Waynedale, Smithville, Loudonville, Rittman, Dalton

The down side being the small schools would not get the points for playing up. However both divisions would be pretty tough schedules

An up side at least for the time being Chippewa and Ritman are separated.
  • Go Falcons
With the shake-up of the NCC there will be teams like Ontario and Lucas that need homes also?
  • oldcatQB
*******"An up side at least for the time being Chippewa and Ritman are separated."*******

??Why separate R-man & D-town?? Thought i read they've played ea.other the most times in WCAL? No? Besides, wasn't it a good game this yr? 7-0 Rittman. There 1st win. Also,4 Ritt kids vandalized D-towns school. Got caught...HOO-AH
  • Red Rum
all of the ideas are interesting, add 2, add 4, north-south, east-west, big-small.

My main line of thinking was travel distance & rivalries. Loudonville creates a natural Falcon rivalry and Black River gives the Huskies one.
Triway is a natural fit. I threw in Tuslaw because it's close to the eastern WCAL schools and their present out of conference schedule is mostly to all WCAL.

As far as travel, Triway is in Wayne County and the rest are very close.

I fear in the coming years, travel expenses could be a major candidate for cost cutting scrutiny. Also, gate money could benefit from playing teams closer to home.

Expansion is fun to talk about and I personally think it could be beneficial but there's probably some drawbacks which will stop it from ever going forward. We in the WCAL have it pretty good compared to alot of other conferences. Some of the travel times in other leagues are huge and there's always schools coming and going.

One last point of contention would be the "commish" position. I would probably be the likely choice but I've already committed to running the scoreboard at Orrville next year (per the Miyagi personnel upgrade plan). That would leave Ringz, Beast, GoFalcs and Paul in a brutal power struggle for the job.:)
  • THE4RINGZ
I have appointed myself the commissioner of all current and future leagues involving teams from Wayne County.
