Warren G. Harding looking for a new coach

  • Pick6
i hope bruney gets it. he turned a losing brooke program around instantly taking them to the state championship in his 2 years there. He done this with a lot of adversity too (parents, fans). Also heard he is well respected by his players.

Can someone post the hometowns/schools of each applicant? Just curious about their backgrounds other than where they are currently coaching...

Tom Bruney originally of Martins Ferry, brother of their current coach I believe. Coached at some school in Kentucky and won some state championships there im pretty sure. Has coached at Brooke in WV the past 2 years, immediately took them from losers to state championship runner up. Was runner up this year as well.

im hearing mixed reports. brooke fans are saying he didnt, then some big time steubenville fans that seem to be in the know are saying he did/was seen at a gas station heading there.

So Bruney is claiming Harding went after him and he didn't apply? I that true? and why does he keep saying "we" like in terms of we are marketbale and we are being looked at. Were they going to hire the whole brooke staff? or just bruney lol

Harding did not go after him, he applied for the job, and he changed his mind before he got interviewed.

I doubt anyone at WGH even knows where Brooke County West Virginia is.

Once again, Bruney is full of himself.

I bet once he saw who his competition was he knew he had no shot of getting the job, so he bailed out to try to save face.

I'm pretty sure Bruney was in Arizona for about 15 years before coming back to Ohio and having a bunch of brief stints before landing in Brooke.

Todd Filtz is also Big Red's alltime leader in tackles, which is saying something. His father was a Big Red Oline coach for over 20 years before retiring in 04. His brother is currently on the Big Red Staff.

Manowar, I am not dissing the other applicants, but if Harding does not offer the job to Filtz it would be a big mistake IMHO.

I was kind of hoping Filtz would come back after Reno retires............so from my own selfish views I hope it's Reardon :)

How many more years do you think Reno has in him to coach?
  • ManO'War
He is not really that old...around 60, and he is in good health, so I guess he could still go another 10 years if he wanted to.

He just signed a 5 year extension last year.

That is a while yet. Filtz can stop in Warren for a few years.

I like the idea of a Steubenville guy coaching at Harding. There have been quite a few in and out over the last few years.

I believe he was, I remember at least twice when the Massillon job opened up he applied, unless there is another guy from Arizona named Bruney.

Not to turn this into a big red thread...but all one needs to do is look no further then Reno's father. If Reno's has 1/2 of the drive as he does, Reno could coach well into his late 80's ; )

The "favorite" for this job remians Reardon , a former Harding assist.

Stiltz would be the second choice.

Should neither want the job, it falls to third choice Bayak, an area coach.

None of the others has any chance. The Bruney story is a farce.

The real story is ,no matter who gets the job, putting a staff together will be a real challenge. Won't be easy.

Don't you mean, "has Reardon promised any players will follow him, "back" to Warren. Maybe he'll bring some kids home.
