I'm starting to think that's a pretty fair assessment. Lolirishball25 wrote: Dover + Hoover = Haters -

No, BAC at least sounded like he could have been intelligent had he not been so jealous, this guy? Not so much.irishball25 wrote: september63 = Big Al Carter -
irishball25Good point!

september63LOL, You know why you teased your younger brother? because they cried and whined. had it not bothered them it would have become boring.
-
GoChiefsI don't think it 'bothers' them as much as that's all anyone can ever seem to bring up b/c I guess they can't find anything else to say? It gets old..very old. Nothing new about this topic at all.

september63It is like beating a dead horse, whether i agree with it or not. I simply started this thread to see if anyone would reply. It seems to have more hits in the last 90 minutes than any other. Must have worked, as this site generates money, hopefully, based on members and total posts and reads.

september63Good Night all..............Is just in fun. Dover Tornadoes "1" time paper poll titles!!

lol, it's not the same theoryseptember63 wrote: Are the Browns considered Super Bowl champions? Its the same, in theory.
championship game vs poll is not the same as championship game with "X" as it's name vs championship game with "Y" as it's name -
Mooney44CardsWe should probably throw out all the championships from before the BCS era too.

sonofsamIts all in the eye of the beholder...

My late father would have argued with you about that. He started attending Big Red games in 1924 and he saw all the teams. He would have told you that Big Red has something like eight titles.snyds113 wrote: When someone ask how many state championships BIGRED has the answer is always 3. -
september63No problem, fairwood. It was an honest question. How many would Big Red have since 1900? Honest answers are also great. I wondered if there could be more schools failing to recognize past titles? Again, I dont hate anyone, just looking for the true numbers, if we are tallying them from 1900 and on.

I think it's hilarious that so many Massillon fans think other programs are jealous of their precious Tigers. Why?? They haven't reached the pinnacle of high-school football in four decades. Yeah, lots to be jealous about there.GoChiefs wrote: Massillon has 22 state titles..that's all there is to it..if you refuse to acknowledge that..that's up to you..but that doesn't take away from the fact that they have those banners hanging and those trophies in the cases at there school. As was brought up earlier..does that mean Big Red shouldn't acknowledge there old Championships either? Dang..jealousy can be an evil thing. -
LocoEngineer66Let's see ... so all of you haters that do not want to count Massillon's 22 state titles are telling me ... that in the historic Ohio high school football existence there was never a champion before 1972???????? Am I understanding that correctly or was there just not a champion the years Massillon "supposedly" won it???? Just curious.

To sum up, I think most people recognize it, just don't find it something to brag about.LocoEngineer66 wrote: Let's see ... so all of you haters that do not want to count Massillon's 22 state titles are telling me ... that in the historic Ohio high school football existence there was never a champion before 1972???????? newarkcatholicfanHow many schools are there that actually recognize the paper championships they have?
Not a shot at any school it’s a legit question. -
LocoEngineer66Only point I am trying to make ... and I am not from Massillon ... is ... it is not the fault of the school or programs that the AP championship is the only one that existed ... but yet people refuse to acknowledge them.
I couldn't find the whole list but someone has to inform the people of ...
Class A
1965-Dover St. Joseph
1966-Marion Cath.
1967-Portsmouth Notre Dame
1968-Newark Cath.
1969-Norwalk St. Paul
1970-Portsmouth Notre Dame
1971-Marion Pleasant
Class AA
1970-New Lexington
1971-Steubenville Cath.
Class AAA
1947-Barberton
1955-Canton McKinley
1956-Canton McKinley
1957-Cleve. Benedictine
1958-Alliance
1961-Niles McKinley
1962-Tol. Central Cath.
1963-Niles McKinley
1966-Cols. Watterson
1967-Upper Arlington
1968-Upper Arlington
1969-Upper Arlington
1971-Warren Harding
that their schools never won a title before 1972 contrary to their beliefs and they have to properly dispose of their trophies and banners. There is gonna be a lot of disappointed people. -
newarkcatholicfanI have a t-shirt from Newark Catholic with the titles listed on it and the 68 one is not on the shirt nor have I seen a shirt with it listed.
-
wgh82If I can count the ones we won--no problem counting yours. The college preBCS count, don't they? Don't mean to be a smartass, but how many has McKinley win--other than my senior year?
-
LocoEngineer66I just think they all should be counted ... if you don't want to count AP titles after 1972 that's fine because their is a different system in place. But with the rich tradition of Ohio high school football every champion, every year needs to be recognized.

I couldn't disagree more...Championships based on "polls" are nothing more than a beauty pageant...it has nothing to do with jealousy...that is why the BCS is a joke...GoChiefs wrote: Massillon has 22 state titles..that's all there is to it..if you refuse to acknowledge that..that's up to you..but that doesn't take away from the fact that they have those banners hanging and those trophies in the cases at there school. newarkcatholicfanI must agree.
