New Phila vs. Steubenville

TY..........a very down to earth and honest post!!.........I am obviously a Dover fan but Big Red fans selling NP's stadium short is ridiculous!! IT is as good as Harding stadium.RedBlackAttack wrote:
Don't pay any attention to that nonsense. If there is any truth to these rumors, I would bet that one of the main reasons for the game is New Philly's excellent stadium and field turf. If we went to Poland and East Liverpool this past year, I think we could make due with New Philly's (excellent) stadium.newarkcatholicfan wrote:
New Philly WOULD BE STUPID if they do not get a home game in this. There stadium is very nice.outdoorsman_121 wrote: If so, Im sure all games will be played in Steubenville. -
Strapping Young LadI loved the stadium. Hand sanitizer in the pottie and it'd be that much better. One of my favorite stadiums we've been to actually. I like the spot for the band too. That was cool!
I'd love to play NP -
Run4DaHillsIf there is any truth to this I commend Philly for upgrading their schedule, but cmon, dont they know u actually have to win the game to get computer points?
-
SykotykRun4DaHills, shhhhhh, if they know that they may decide not to schedule us. We need games, constantly.
-
Go_Fast_SportsSteubenville has played in A LOT SMALLER stadiums than New Phila... you people crack me up.... lol
-
believer^^^^Arrogance is bliss.
Woody Hayes Quaker Stadium is a very nice facility....oops I guess I'm looking at this from a weak ECOL point of view.
If NP and Steubber actually do go through with this deal it's gotta be a 1 or 2 year at the most thing since Zanesville begins ECOL play in 2012. -
Strapping Young LadWill the Dover fans sit on the NP side????
-
Go_Fast_SportsIf it were me, I'd simply stand on the away side.
Dover brings a nice sized crowd and plays at farm stadiums half the time. Fans are forced to stand. Same goes with any other big fan based schools like Steubenville. They've played in small stadiums where I've had to stand before as well. Why would a playoff site as in Woody Hayes stadium be any different? -
Strapping Young LadNo, when you come to the Big Red NP game......Will there be enough room for the Dover fans on the home side or will you guys have to stand???
-

We have our own team to support, we don't give two shits about either one of you two outside of the weeks we play you. Believe that. So unless this is some special Thursday night or Saturday night game we don't be in attendance. I think Big Red has let NP have a home game(they already have 8 for next year) with the provision that they can sit on the home side. Nice showing against Mooney BTW, way to represent Region 11.Strapping Young Lad wrote: No, when you come to the Big Red NP game......Will there be enough room for the Dover fans on the home side or will you guys have to stand??? -
wes_mantoothI really hope this is true. I know Philly will probably get smoked, but they need to beef up their schedule a lot. Not to mention, travelwise, it won't be bad for either team.
-
snyds113Bases loaded,BigRed could have won that game if only we scored 39 more points.
-
Strapping Young LadBases, don't make me remind you how we pushed over your 'best team ever", again.....
5-8 seconds and Bubble screens, all day..... -
J-Dover
haha, not that old. Yes they do have a great program and that is prob why I don't like them, bc we are not there yet. That is all the props I'll give them.september63 wrote: Jimmy, ur telling ur age. I played and lost to Big Red at Harding Stadium in 1982. We lost 7-6. I talk alot of trash but that is one hell of a program. Some schools have great teams. Big Red, and on a smaller level Dover, have great programs each and every year.
I agree philly needs to beef up there schedule, but come on Big Red? Unlike bases, I do care if they match up and would like to see it. Make sure its on a thur or sat so I can. Come steuby fans we all know how much pull you have at OHSAA....you can make it happen. lol -
skank
Their conference schedule isn't all that impressive either.september63 wrote: Easy there fellas, I just asked if anyone else had heard this? We cant all bash NP every year for a weak non-conference schedule and not give them credit if they are trying to set up this game. -
FairwoodKingNew Philadelphia is a surprisingly weak team considering how many wins they get every year. This year they went 9-1 and failed to make the playoffs. In terms of computer points, they would be a real cash cow for Big Red.
As far as playing an away game, Big Red has played in some real dumps. Columbus Waterson's Hagely Field immediately comes to mind. East Liverpool in 2002 also comes to mind. There was a heavy rain and the field turned into a mud bath. After playing in these places, Big Red would gladly play in a fine facility like the one in NP. -
Strapping Young Lad
Oops, look like you speak for yourself, Bases....I know the Dover fans won't be able to stay away if Big Red is playing right in their own backyard.J-Dover wrote: Unlike bases, I do care if they match up and would like to see it. Make sure its on a thur or sat so I can.
So, J Dover, my question is does NP pack the home side for a reg season game??? I'm trying to figure out if everyone who wants to see this game will get a seat if we play at NP.... -
zhon44622With the exception of a small section on each end (one is for students) Phila's side is entirely season ticketed reserved seats. The one thing you have to remember is that during the playoff game they did not have all of their end zone seating at the stadium because it was still at Dover from the Dover/Phila game two weeks earlier. They cart them back and forth each year and then store them during the winter and track seasons. There are also the two hillsides outside the stadium that hold non ticketed fans every Dover/Phila game when the SRO tix sell out.
-
sonofsamBig red would have more of a challenge keeping Creek on the schedule... New Philly is a 9-1 nothing.
-
Puddle JumperWhy would Steubenville want to play NP?
-
Strapping Young LadThey won a lot of games last year and they are an area team, I guess. I'd rather play them than these out of state teams that we don't know.
With Big Red fans, NP, then all the Dover fans who will skip their game to be there, should be a huge gate. -
ZalKath
I agree with this completely!Puddle Jumper wrote: Why would Steubenville want to play NP? -
FairwoodKingI can understand Big Red's reasons for wanting to play New Philadelphia. We would get a lot of computer points and there would be a big gate when the game was played in Steubenville. Besides, as several people pointed out, it is better to play NP than to play so many out of state teams.
-
Cha'DIchNew Philly's stadium isn't bad, but it doesn't compare to Harding Stadium. Harding is one of the best stadiums in the state. Parking is also an issue when going to see a game at Quaker Stadium.
-
bases_loadedJimmy crack corn...you tell me that unlike me you will be interested in this game but then mention the wanting it on a Saturday or Thursday...so as much as you want to disagree with me you agree with me. I too said the only way this draws a large Dover crowd is if it isn't on the same night. BAZINGA
