Orrville Red Rider Football 2011

  • RedRider1
I think OQB's larger point in that just because we were a semifinalist last year, doesn't mean we're guaranteed a state title this year. Pretty sure we all know this...and maybe that's his point...I don't know...but last year is done and this year will present a whole new set of challenges (as we've seen already).

Sure they have work to do...but is anyone doubting the kids' ability to put in the work...or the coaches ability to make sure the work gets done? If so, then that's a whole different discussion.

We have a group of core players that know what big games are all about....we have kids who have put in many hours of weight room time and will continue to improve daily....we have coaches who know that one scrimmage doesn't make or break a season.

    We'll be fine......

I'm not really siding with anyone, just calling it like I see it.

First off, WOW, wasn't expecting an ambush!

Go Riders, I am sorry to hear about Matt, I know how much work he put in in the offseason and for something like this to happen is devistating. I pray that he has a speedy recovery and can get back on the field as soon as possible, he has a very bright future!

    5knots,
Looks like I hit a nerve. I really don't know what I did to tick you off, or for you to be after me like you have been recently, maybe you could inform me? I WAS, I AM, and WILL ALWAYS BE A RED RIDER and I do know exactly what they are going through. Orrville football is a different kind of football....it's special and all about tradition, hard work, and making YOUR community proud. Every post responding to me, you make it seem like I have no clue what Orrville football is about or the strategy behind the game. I have been through it! As for the scrimmage, I read a lot of threads on here and every other team had a lot to say after their first scrimmages, we on the other hand had 2 guys post limited information and left me with a lot of questions. I want nothing more than for this team or any Orrville team for that matter to do the best that they possibly can, and go as deep in the playoffs/tourny as possible, because I know how much it makes the community proud. We lost A LOT last year to graduation......experience, leadership, and great young men. 2011 just reminds me a lot about 2004....Tim Hiller's senior year. I just think the same thing will happen (very high expectations, win 7 games, lose in the first round) I REALLY HOPE I AM WRONG, and WANT TO BE WRONG on this, I just see too many similarities. I'm sorry that is not what you want to hear, and think I am tearing this team apart. THAT IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL! I am far enough away now from the program that I can analyze our football team WITHOUT Orrville glasses on OR Dad glasses on.

RRRock, I think you were lucky to even pass English class after I read that post. For someone who thinks Orrville football is sacred and shouldn't be critiqued, you sure have a double standard.

I have and will ALWAYS support the boys in the Red Rider uniform. I will not bother you guys anymore with my input on Orrville football.....if that is indeed what you guys want. I wish this team and future Orrville teams nothing but the best and for you dads on here, hope your sons have a healthy and successful year!

    Go Riders!

First off I am working 2 jobs right now totaling over 75 hours a week....I don't have the luxory to name the hours I work and attend every football function. That being said, I was able to attend the 7 on 7 against Tim's team and saw some things to improve and other things that impressed me. I rely on you guys to keep those who can't attend these football functions informed with what is going on, how we did, who shined, who didn't, etc.... I wish I could be more involved.

Man, this thread is about to BLOW UP! BRF says, everybody chill and quit "treatin"!

IMO, OQB was just asking some questions and having some concerns. That's all. He is a Red Rider! One day he hopes to coach. All this stuff being slung around is a good learning experience for what he one day may face. Dad's: they are Dad's and will do ANYTHING to help their kid. They get "testy" when questions are brought up...or even loyalty. That's the nature of the game. I agree with RR1's post, too.

Also, RRRock's knock on OQB...that was low. Many of us on here never saw the field of action, yet we give our opionions frequently. So what?

So let's quit the "in-house" fight and move on to Week 1 of action and deal with our cards.

Now that I am in a bad mood this is for some of you bozos out there trying to pick apart a team already. These are kids workIng there butts off for rider nation. Football no
Nut sorry if I offend you but I don't really give a rats butt what you buy into. We know what mason drew stew lemon etc are capable of there is no need to show that in a scrimmage. They were evaluating certain kids very very hard The result of the play was not as important as the film review. For you qb08 get off them already. Nobody on this team thinks anything will be easy so shut it already about that. Every week will be a challenge just like when you played because we are everyone's big game. You see how quickly a kids life can change so support these guys because they are working hard! We have a very young and undersized group of guys up front and we need to stay healthy. Especially now. We will fight and scrap and try to get to the playoffs for we will be a better team at the end of the year .

Mr Miyagi says take 2 Midol and be glad you arent from Doylestown

First off this is not suppose to offend anyone.....just lighten the mood and get back to talking Orrville Football!!

For all those Red Rider fans having a bad day....we need to stick together and stay strong, not fall apart, bicker, and treatin' among each other.

Yes , injuries are out of our control, but posting remarks are not. If you post about expectations and especially performance maybe it is a good idea to see for yourself first. We are ranked high because we return much skill, but like every small town we have big holes to fill. If kids can step in and fill those voids we have a better chance of success. We know what some of these kids can do, there is no question about that. I think we have several of the best high school athletes in the state on our team. But we need the whole team for success to happen. Eleven guys on the field is what is needed to make it happen. I am telling you right now with our schedule every game will be a game....like every year.

OK....apologies from me for my rants...I didn't handle Matt's situation the best and probably overboard on the defense of the riders part. I'll try to do better. Let's hope for a healthy and better Friday night! Go Riders!

Ah, peace reigns again among the Riders!

One question I have is: Do you think Brenner will be strictly backup QB or will he see any significant snaps during games? I'm guessing strictly backup.
  • riders1
I think he could see some snaps as he really liked to run around with the ball before he punted last season, so I think we could see him take snaps and run.

I am one who would like to see Drew get a chance. He gives us another option that Kyle does not..running when the pocket breaks down! I think Kyle will get plenty of opportunities, but if it doesn't work, then I am all for letting Drew take all the snaps. Wildcat like offense.

Well, now, that's on the lines of what I was wondering and being used in certain situations.
  • RedRider1
I don't want to be quick with the panic button, but we need production from whomever is taking snaps this year. Can't have nights of 1 completion for every 10 attempts. Kyle had no pressure to put up numbers last year but he will this year.

He needs to get rolling early and hit some easy, early completions to build his confidence. He has playmakers around him but needs to be decisive and be open to pulling the ball down and running when that opportunity is presented.
