Week 14: Orrville Red Riders vs Chagrin Falls Tigers
-
riders1Great season Riders you played your hearts out to the end. Great to see such a great turnout as the stands seemed 2/3 full with in minutes of the gates opening and even though it was the coldest game of the season I thought it was our best turnout. See you all at Red Rider stadium against Northwest next August.
-
BRF5knots: I was also having those thoughts you described at the end of the half.
Riders1: I agree that the turnout was very good. -
riders15knots if you ever can figure out why coaches, not just ours, take timeouts to the locker room at the half in similar situations, please let me know. They don't carry over so use them.
-
OQB5knots, Couldn't of said it any better myself and I agree 100% with that post.
We used a total of ONE timeout the entire game, and that was with a minute to play in the game.....What happened to the Orrville 2-minute offense that has been so successful for us for years? We needed to score before the half and instead we let the clock wind down and run the ball. I feel like the coaches panicked in this game, and got away from what the 2010 version of the Orrville Red Riders do best, instead we tried to be the 2004 Orrville Red Riders and air it out 80% of the game.
Kyle had an off night that is for sure, but let's all remember the plays that he made to get us to this point! He is a sophomore QB, and it showed tonight. That doesn't mean we need to blame him 100% for the loss, you win as a team and you lose as a team. Kyle will grow from this experience and use it to motivate himself through this offseason.
One more thing, Nobody wanted to win more tonight than those kids in the uniforms. Sure we didn't play up to our potential, but that doesn't mean we weren't giving it our best effort. I believe this team has given 110% for 14 weeks and I am very proud to be a Red Rider tonight!
RTR! -
RedRider1A lot of what we couldn't do tonight was b/c of Chagrin Falls. Got pressure on us and Kyle never looked comfortable. I feel real bad for him right now.
Tre had 65 yds on 12 carries, Stew had 1 rush for 39 and 1 catch for 14 yds.
Not a good night on offense. Stinks to get this far and have that kind of night. Some of it was the cold, a lot of it was Chagrin, and some of it was our own doing.
Total Yards
CF - 263
Orr - 118 (only 29 in 2nd half)
Enjoyed hearing our coach give CF credit....much more than we heard from EC or Genoa's coach. -
riders1QB it's pretty hard to run a 2 minute offfense if your QB has to go to the sidelines to get every play.

Well I got 1 team right, but really would have liked to see us there. -
OQBthere are hand signals for the 2 minute offense.
-
RedRider1We didn't get inside CF's 35 yard line once after Tanner's field goal in the 2nd qtr.
-
Red Rider NationNothing to be ashamed of - most would say we played above our talent level all year - Next year should definitely be fun as we return all our weapon players. Hey Genoa, have a bunch of kids drop out so you can go to D5 otherwise you will be right back here next year getting your butt spanked by the Red Riders
-
OQBI was very happy to see a lot of guys giving encouragement to Kyle throughout the game and especially the end of the game. I'm sure they were trying to lift him up as teammates should do. Not one player was laying on the field either as the clock hit 0:00......This was awesome to see everyone giving credit where credit was due, and not let their emotions out of the lockerroom, which I'm sure was pretty emotional.
RiderNation....I think it's safe to say this is how Genoa has felt the past 2 years after playing us! Let's not start anything, be happy for the great season we did have and let our play on the field do the talking. -

riders1QB Why not hand signals all the time?

The hand signals?
Well we used to rotate guys in and out usually a RB or WR, but this year I guess they didn't want those 5 guys to come out so they had Kyle running back and forth. He wears a QB wrist coach as well but never see him use it...
Our 2 minute offense is so efficient and is hard to stop, no matter who we are playing. But It does hurt when your first completion comes in the 4th quarter. -
OQBRiders1, we have hand signals for about 75% of our offense and it would be easy to just change over to that. I just think it is nice to save that for 2 minute situations where you can go up tempo and speed the game up, and then you can slow it down with the traditional running in of the plays.
Which one is better......I'm still trying to figure that out. lol -

I would think that they would use one player, preferably the backup QB, to run plays in if the starting QB can't remember signals. At least perhaps the backup QB might learn the plays should he ever go in the game or become a starter. -
OQBThat is NOT the reason why they don't use hand signals!
The QB knows the plays, knows the signals, and knows how to run and execute each play. We have used the 2-minute I think 3 times this season, and moved the ball every single time we used it. -

You haven't heard me say that I want the Riders to lose, You guys say you want to talk about football, only you don't want to hear if one does not always agree with your "cheerleading" and exaggerated hype of some players.BRF;571715 wrote:I was thinking about saying something like that, but in a rare moment, held back! I am really unhappy about the decision to go ahead with the downtown thing.
I was wondering where a certain critical poster has been lately? No congrats to the team from him? It must be bothering him that things are going well.

His "impact" was made against teams that were not that strong. Why is it that for all his "so-called" abilities he's not received many if any award recognition outside of "Ohio Chatter" and the Daily Record. Yes, he's committed to Nebraska, I'm thinking that practice team tackling obstacle position is where he's headed, he has the size for it. 4.51 speed...sounds like someone is lifting early on that stopwatch! -

What is the reason then? Does the QB really need the exercise? I did read someone mention getting him in the weight room. Do you realize how much running that can amount to in one game?OrrvilleQB;576592 wrote:That is NOT the reason why they don't use hand signals!

OQBI agree with you, I don't think we should have him running back and forth the entire game like he has all year. The reason why (IMO) is because they want Tre, Stew, Drew, Mason, and Max out there every single play. Before this year, we had about 7 guys that would rotate in. Sure we could've done it with Mason, Tre, and Matt Davis or even Max and Dylan...as to why we did it this way...well that is something to ask the coaches because I do not have the answer for that. haha

Third time is the charm bud -
ridernationI will give you the Genoa version of why we lost, "the officials were terrible, there must have been 7 pass interference calls they didn't make, the turnovers we had just wasn't normal for us, we beat ourselves CF was just lucky, and lay on the field and cry". Or we could just say we had a great season and got beat by a better team that night.

rage hunterI see, now it's the hand signals. "The greatest coach in the state" is now getting thrown under the bus. The fans are saying that "we never thought we would get this far", but yet you all complained that others doubted you. True colors are starting to show. It's funny to see a rider still slinging mud at Genoa, even after a big loss. No class.
