Steubenville Big Red 2011

FairwoodKingoutdoorsman;553319 wrote:Why should an Ohio team have to come to Steubenville every year ?
Well, for 2011 I'm sure it will be a home game, because weeks 2 and 3 are on the road. The fans wouldn't like starting off with three road games.
I would really like to play New Philadelphia next year in week 1. We would have to play them on the road in 2012, but at least we will play week 3 at home. -
finster4307Gateway is supposed to be really good in 2011....from a relative who loves in PA.
I like the Soph. QB from Massillon but I believe his receivers are graduating this year. That will be an interesting game. Will we have the "horses" to pull off the win? -
DoverWith a QB from Weirton, a line from the tri county area, this should be an....interesting season....

Massollin chases transfers more than anyone. What the heck are you talking about?
It's no one's fault that none of them turn out to be Troy Smith's, but we all know that you'll keep trying -

Yeah, we all know that you're "in the know" about what Massillon does. The things that I talk about the parochs doing is well documented, I guess you can't blame the parochials themselves, most of the blame would fall on the shoulders of the OHSAA. After all, if a parent allows a child eat 5 lbs. of candy EVERY day, who's fault is it really when the kid turns out to be a tubby? Now go eat your candy. -

Or, to put it another way, if it's within the rules for a student to choose the school that he/ she would like to attend, and that student ends up playing football, and that football team wins a State Championship, and some old jealous one note hypocritical wanna be continually plays his one note whine regarding the school(s) in question, when none of those schools has even come close to being charged with recruiting, unlike the hypocritical wannabe's school who has NEVER, EVER, NEVER won a State Championship in the nearly 40 years since championships were earned on the field.
And he thinks anybody cares what he thinks
Seriously -
Con_AlmaWhy folks think they have a right to some kid's ability is beyond me.

I hope you are kidding. Because if you think the fans have anything to say about our schedule, you have been out of the loop too long.FairwoodKing;553337 wrote:Well, for 2011 I'm sure it will be a home game, because weeks 2 and 3 are on the road. The parents from weirton moved here years ago. That Q.B. may not even start next year. No transfers on next year's line. Now take your ball and go home-kid.Dover;553491 wrote:With a QB from Weirton, a line from the tri county area, this should be an....interesting season.... -

I just spent this football season in Steubenville and I attended boosters meetings, so I am not out of the loop. I realize that money and computer points drive the schedule, but I don't think Reno wants to bite the hand that feeds him. If he loses the support of the fans, then he has nothing. -

Not yet at least they are trying to get some prospects in for a visit! -

I know who you are. I was at some of those booster meetings. You could not be more wrong about him needing the fans. The fans did not hire him; the fans will never fire him. Love him or hate him, he's in with the administration, the school board and fans with the deep pockets who help with the modernization of our stadium.
I am sure you are a nice guy and I kind of felt sorry for the way he talked to you at some of the meetings. But he set you up and knew it was you posting about things that were not finalized yet. Nope, not really in the loop. At least you were not one of the early birds eating all the doughnuts until they fell into a sugar coma.
Cheers. -

^^^You know it hasn't been a good week when the Big Red faithful begin to turn on their own. -
FairwoodKingIn my own defense, I never posted anything sensitive like injuries on the internet. I only talked about schedules, and Reno needs to be more transparent about things like that. I need to know what the schedule is. After all, I drove 2500 miles to see Big Red play. Then I timed my return to Seattle so that I could see the Massillon and Ursuline games. If things pan out, I plan to return to Steubenville next fall to see Big Red play.
Say about me what you like, but you can't deny that I am a huge Big Red fan just like my father was. -

I'm not turning on you, just giving you a heads up. I know we need more fans like yourself.

This year's schedule was not finalized until the last minute. Rumors had us playing enough games to fill 1 1/2 schedules. One team waited until the last deadline to sign theirs.
What happened this year? Did your plans fall through about finding a job here? I know you mentioned trying to find a teaching job.

I know, every year this kind of crap pops up; he said, she said. Every successful program goes through this.Dover;554557 wrote:I actually know that this is not the case.
I'm going to go watch Malvern play Shadyside here at Harding Stadium tonight. Malvern has never lost here. This is supposed to be Shadyside's year. For Malvern, their coach had his son play Q.B.. Low and behold a kid transfers in to play Q.B. for Malvern and is good enough to allow the coach to play his kid at receiver. Now they have one receiver at 6'5" and the other at 6'4" and Shadyside has to decide if they blitz or try to cover with their smaller backs.
My point is: this happens all over Ohio; It's called "Open Enrollment". If you know for a fact that something illegal is going on, turn it in. Now go and beat Sheridan.

Yes, I failed to get a teaching job at any of the local colleges. I think I applied too late. I also failed to sell my house in Seattle. So I moved back and I'm writing another book. -

Housing market for sellers is brutal right now. Since the mills went down, things are different. We are no longer a mill economy. Biggest employers are the University and Hospitals.FairwoodKing;555174 wrote:Yes, I failed to get a teaching job at any of the local colleges. I think I applied too late.
