4-15 Week 12: #1 Ironton vs. #4 Highland
-
HereticA rematch from the first round of last year, when Ironton hosted Highland and sent them home with a 30-something-point defeat. Friday night, both teams won impressively against opponents who drove a long way to get beat. Highland's offense has more diversity this year and they seem to have really improved since the early part of the year. Ironton is a team that ALWAYS seems to be good...really, the sort of team I'd guess Highland is trying to become...one that always can be counted on to be a contender. This is Highland's fifth straight appearance in the playoffs and second trip to the second round. This is a pretty common occurrence for Ironton.
So, what to expect? I'll be there, if anyone wishes to pay admittance to meet me. And I don't mean game admittance. I mean, "Listen! I'm talking to you, so pay me $25 or this pen's going through your neck!!!" admittance. But as for the actual game...I'm thinking that at least, it will be more competitive than last year's meeting.
Anyhow, let's talk about the game! -
BigDean1Good Luck to Ironton from Campbell Memorial.

Yes, Coshocton bused a long way to get beat, but as I recall Coshocton beat Ironton last year in the playoff's so I guess what goes around comes around, eh?Heretic;548117 wrote:Friday night, both teams won impressively against opponents who drove a long way to get beat.
Good luck to Ironton from this Coshocton fan. -
NYFan54Game will be played at Logan High School. Good luck to the Tigers this week.
-
tk421I expect Ironton to advanced.
-
GoChiefsUgh..I hate seeing Ironton playing on our field when it's not us kicking their tails. LOL Good luck Highland!
-
HereticChiefs!! With your Logan history, where's a good place to eat there? Chain, local restaurant, whatever.
-
GoChiefsPizza Crossing. Without a doubt. Some of the best pizza you will eat. You going to the game?
-
CenterBHSFanAs a Bellaire fan, I have a very healthy respect for Ironton. They've yet to beat Bellaire, but dayum, they came soooo close twice. The last time the two teams played (in Athens, anybody see that game?), 3 OT's and I couldn't talk for days.
I'm picking Ironton in this one, but good luck to both teams! -

Yep. Covering it for work. -
GoChiefsIf I don't have to work the weekend, I'll be down in Logan and will probably go to the game to cheer on Highland. Lol I'll let ya know if I'm going or not. We'll have to meet up and say hello.

We'll have to meet up so I can buy you all the pizza you can handle, as well as a bunch to take home because you're that awesome of a person.
Thank you and I accept! -
GoChiefsLMAO! Done!

ohbuckeye1Ironton comes out on top in this one to advance to the Regional Championship.
Ironton beat a good Coshocton Team last week 32-12
Highland beat a good Portsmouth West team last week by a good margin but West was hampered with injuries missing one of the best FB's in the State (I think the #2 ranked FB in the Nation according to some) and both starting Linebackers on Defense, one of them being the FB.
Hope for an injury free game and may the best TEAM win. -

Not to mention 6 fumbles from West. I don't care if you are playing the top team in DI, if they fumble the ball 6 times, they are going to lose. -

True, 6 fumbles is hard to overcome for anyone. Ironton has done a great job at holding onto the ball this year.tk421;552842 wrote:Not to mention 6 fumbles from West. I don't care if you are playing the top team in DI, if they fumble the ball 6 times, they are going to lose. -
GoChiefsNope, gotta work Sunday Hateric. Won't be able to make this trip.

Yeah Highland probably had nothing to do with causing any of those 6 fumbles -
duncanel40i heard that west handed the ball to highland every single time
-
ohbuckeye1Irontons only lost 5 Fumbles all Season, not to shabby

Hmm... I guess a lot of hating is required, considering that Ironton has whupped Logan 16 of the 24 times they've played since 1927 and Logan has only beaten Ironton four times at home during that span.
Then again, you might say, Logan is only two Divisions higher up the totem pole than Ironton with only about three times the boys' enrollment to draw upon, so what do you expect. It would take a lot more boys do bring in enough talent to overcome the difference in coaching and community backing that the Ironton kids have long enjoyed. Maybe 10x the population would bring it into balance? -

Ironton's record against Bellaire is indeed one of their poorest... but it's not the case that they've never beaten them... turns out they are 3-6-1 (and none of the three wins are recent). For more info on Ironton's current team and history, see www.irontontonfootball.com -

Awww...did I hurt your feelings? I'm sorry sunshine. Since 1927? LOL We really going back that far? LOL As another poster would say, 4-0 this century against the Tigers. That's good enough for me! And I love how you Ironton folks (if you are indeed from Ironton) always talk about 'how numbers don't matter'. But then when you talk about Logan, you always bring up Logan being bigger and having bigger numbers. Damn! Can't have it both ways! Make up your minds! Which is it? Numbers don't matter or numbers don't matter except when it comes to Logan?
As for me 'hating' the Tigers. It has nothing to do with Logan's win/loss record sunshine. It's how they tucked their tails and ran the first chance they got after they realized they couldn't win the SEOAL like they thought they were going to. -

That shows that you really have no clue as to why Ironton really left the League. You don't know who at Ironton was against and who was for rejoining the League to begin with. Believe Me Irontons not afraid of any Team in the SEOAL just because they didn't win the League, just look at their record against the SEOAL Teams the last 5 years...............not shabby. -

Oh yeah...that's right...they left because of travel, right? Gimme a break. They couldn't win, so they ran the first chance they got.
