I defer to your thoughts, yet they conflict from one post to another, unless of course you're saying Ferry is flat out slow. Where is Memorial's speed advantage? RB/QB/WR ?

No Its hard to explain... We lost probably the fastest guy on the team in week two. #5 Skevo! And campbell for the most part has speed every place. But there is not one player faster then the other. they can be caught. but it only happen a few times! #3 Ja'les brakes into the open field will create problems!! Here is a scary thought. Talked to Skevo's mom two weeks ago at the Falls game. Skevo is fine and going to play collage football. and he will also be playing i think she said basketball for campbell. But his range of motion is 100% And is getting his strength back. she said if they get deep into the playoffs its up to him if he wants to come back.. But like she said he dont want to rush it and have no shot of playing collage.. so even though i like to see him back i dont want to see his talent destroyed. I rather see him represent campbell in collage..

If true, given Cambpell Memorial's huge size advantage on the line, this game will be a blowout.

Here is Highlights of Martins ferry for this year. Check them out. they have a very good QB and a nice Running back. And a second string back that's just as talented...

I'm throwing my hat in this ring since I have ties to both the Ohio & Mahoning valley. I'm giving the nod to Martins Ferry @ home in a close one if Campbell's speed is legit but looking @ the schedule of each a few things stick out to me. One, MFerry plays more school's of their same size or bigger. Two, MFerry has more victories over teams with winning records. Three, three of MFerry's wins come over teams that I think would easily go 8-2 or 9-1 against Campbell's schedule & Four, Campbell has a quality win over SRange & one over Girard that is making a comeback from a few down years & they got whacked by Salem.

MFerry lost to ELiverpool but it was much closer than the D-3 Salem beatdown on Campbell & MFerry had the lead in the fourth. Did Campbell lead Salem in the second half?

Go MFerry, I might attend this one.

campbell led salem at half 21-20...i like your thinking but we can make these types of evaluations. im gonna take my turn lol. my thing is this ferry lost to e liverpool, and although they are 8-2 there are some things we have to look at with them. they played 4 area teams that i know of, beaver local, chaney, east, and struthers. those 4 teams gave el all they could handle when they shouldve blown them out. the first three are prob in the bottom 5 in this area. they barely beat struthers and campbell just put 51 on them. and el beat ferry...but the bottomline is its all about matchups and game planning. who knows whats gonna happen...

All of the "well we beat them by more, we played bigger schools and tougher competition, we led them at halftime" stuff means very little at this juncture. In the playoffs a team has to execute and make plays. I feel Campbell and Martins Ferry are pretty evenly matched. Let's hope that the weather forecast improves for Friday. I expect a very good game.

Turn supports speed. That nice field of MF may be the downfall of Mf. (Martins Ferry)

Campbell fans I suggest you stop by Steubenville and eat on your way down . Naples speghetti house Dean Martins favorite food on 4th street in downtown . Its just off rout 7 . Either that or fast food in Martins Ferry

I am from ferry and i am looking forward to this game. It should be a good one. Ferry has been hit hard by injuries this year most of which started in the first half of the el game when our starting rb/safety got injured and our best lineman. Both will be back 100% for this game. CM has the size advantage on the line, but both are even with speed. Ferry has a couple state track placers on the team so that one is a toss up. As for ferry being out coached i dont know about that. our coach was just inducted into the ohio football hall of fame. As for our team history, We are in the top ten in the state for wins and in the top 75 in the national for wins. before the playoffs we have 1 state championship. since then we have 2 regional finals and been to the playoffs 10 or 11 times. We have a beautiful stadium that seats about 7500 and standing room will exceed over 10k. This game will come down to who wants it more. be safe and looking foreward to a good game.

i think it pretty much sounds like both sides are cautiously optimistic...anyone know what tapes ferry got of campbell? and what tapes we got from them? i know it used to be 2 tapes...

    Good luck red devils!

I can ask for more. A win.. I would love to see what the devils of the 85 to 93 started and finish it. I would love to see a state championship for football. We have had some of the greatest teams in the Youngstown area. But we have yet to finish it. I remember the state game and how the fumbles hurt us in the first qt. I will tell you this if we didn't fumble we would have won 7 to 6. Nobody could have told me any different.. I know it the team knows it and the fans know it.. Bring it home. we have the offensive power to hang with any team in div 4. But we need the dominant defense of game to get into the finals. I think we can take the fist two games. we get past Martins ferry and i believe we can. We can take on chagrin falls and give them payback. we can do this but we need the defense to rise up and take over the games.

The winner of this game plays the winner of the Akron Manchester vs Perry game.

so all you football experts from campbell...how hard do you think it will be to defend the wishbone for our red devils? looks like ferry will only throw the ball 10 times all game...so can we stop the wishbone?
  • realdeal6
The bottom line with campbell is defense...They have not been very good at it all year long. Tackling is a huge issue, ive seen 7 games this year. I thought the girard and labrae games were the best they played in that department. And neither one of those two teams was a real good football team in my opinion. To all the soup city huddlers out there they all know deep down in their heart this is where the problem lies. NO doubt the offense is very good, and the offensive line has improved and with john sikora lead blocking j'ales' stats have improved tremendously. I really like the defensive line, and the linebackers. I think the weak spot and I hate to say it because of all the athleticism they possess is the defensive backfield and wideouts. I watch them tackle poorly or by the head as bledsoe loves to do every game or get burnt. How many drops do the receivers have this season? How many fumbles lost or not does lebron have? If the receivers also blocked a little better down field who knows how many more yards hughes would have. So in saying all that if Campbell can play tougher on D and the DB's step up which I believe they are capable the sky is the limit for this team. They have the kicking game and can score with anyone. The question is can they stop anyone? I like every other fan last friday had no confidence that Campbell's defense could get it done. When you have to pray for a hold or a drop to occur so you can get a stop your in big trouble. Best of luck to Campbell I hope the defense can put it together and play lights out..I'll be rooting for ya..

Soup, I am actually happy they are committed to the run. I think our defense can contain that and get a few stops. If I were playing campbell I would probably be very throw heavy and less run. I have no confidence in the secondary, I want to vomit when I watch #83 attempt to make a tackle or the safety #6 make a play on the ball in the air. That boy should have around 10 picks this season im really not sure what he is thinking.

Let's focus on this Friday first. Anyone who is under the impression Martins Ferry is going to be a pushover is going to be seriously mistaken. This is a good team Campbell is playing, as good as if not better than any of the top teams in the AAC-Blue. And they are playing at home. I believe Campbell will have to put up an effort similar to the ones they gave vs. Girard and Struthers to win this game on the road. I've read on other forums that Martins Ferry has some speed of their own and a very good linebacker who is all over the field. The X factor may well be the size advantage Campbell has on the offensive line. But Martins Ferry is not going to be intimidated. They've got a great head coach and a solid program. Campbell will have to play well and limit the mistakes. Execute fellas.

Heard they have some track stars but how well are they as football players is the question. If campbell keeps it close to the second quarter they should run away with this by the end of the third.

    This.

The wishbone is hard to stop if they are executing it correctly. Fortunately for Campbell, we have an experienced staff that has seen this offense before. Good offense if you have smaller athletic type of lineman. Should be interesting.
