There was. But most of the Campbell huddlers may be too young to remember. Teams of the 1950's were really tough. Campbell had a really good team in 1971, finishing 8-2. The losses came by a combined total of 7 points.

I meant that started the turnaround in campbell and how it went on to producing what we now know is the rozem years and the state playoff and MVC years. you have to admit there was a long time before campbell had anything going on the field till that year. And i mean after Knapick!!

BigDean I envy you very much with all that gold you have!! LOL i mean DVD's! I tried to get hold of the media department 4 time and they said someone would call me back. Well that never happen. If i can get you some dvds and some cash could you burn me copies of those dvd's! If you have the time and the computer. I would never ask you to borrow them. I really want to make this DVD and start a YouTube channel dedicated to all the great players and all kinds of highlight videos. I have been wanting to do this for a long time... if you dont know how too or dont have a a dvd burner i understand. Cause i dont think ill ever get anything from the media department. I'm just trying to give those players some recognition. there is not one video of campbell football but from a big red game back in 94. and we got crushed cause we didn't have the players working together.

I've got a dvd writer with my computer. But I have never tried burning a dvd. Let me give it a shot and I'll get back to you. I admire your ambitions. But from my point of view, the recognition would be better suited at the stadium instead of via the internet. The media department can do what you want to do on their own. Why haven't they is my question?

LOL i dont know why but I'm gonna try again today!!!!! But let me know on that DVD. Im crossing those fingers!!! and how many games are on each dvd? Oh By the way i was at that Campbell big red game!!! I remember it very well.. That was the last game me and my mom and dad all went together. My dad past away soon after. It was a crushing that should have never happen!!! We had the players at the beginning of the season to compete with with anyone in my opinion!!!!

OK i just called and we will see if i get a call back this time lol.

As far as the stadium goes i agree with you!! I have yet seen a stadium that has Numbers of players and retired Numbers. But yet you go to steubenville Harding stadium they have all there accomplishments all over the place and when you leave that stadium you would be shocked. I was at the stadium a few weeks back when they had the 3 games played on a Saturday. It was ridiculous. they fill that stadium every week. and there sometimes sold out. Im gonna talk to Lets_Go_Devils about what could be done about that. Me and Him go way back to being toddlers playing at his moms! But we shall see. he is a great supporter of the team!!!

You can email Mr. Soroka at the high school. His email address is on the CMHS website. I believe he is still in charge of the media department.

You can email Mr. Soroka at the high school. His email address is within the faculty section on the high school website. I believe he may still be in charge of the media department. There are two or three games on each dvd. And just because these are dvds does not mean that they in high definition or professionally restored to movie theater quality. These are simply dvdrs made from the coaches videotapes. There are games from '85 and '86 that do not have sound. There are no huddles between plays, time outs, or halftime. So each game can be watched in around 40 minutes or so. I know some games from the past were shown on Campbell channel 19 over the past couple of years. In the meantime I am going to see if I can burn dvds on my computer.

That 1994 team had some players with quite a bit of potential. They were highly regarded in the preseason. I watched many practices during that season during the summer. Altough the offensive line was big, I would say only two of the linemen were good. I believe there were two sophomores and one freshman who were being heavily counted on. They beat a very weak Allegheny Academy team in week one. Then when week two came around, Chaney came to town. Chaney had a solid hard-nosed team and they beat our asses. It was a very even game until one of the "stars" decided to mouth off following a play during a Campbell drive deep into Chaney territory. We were penalized 15 yards, the drive stalled, and it was all downhill from there. One of the running backs was so selfish during that game that he quit on his teammates and coaches DURING THE GAME. He walked off the field and into the locker room, followed by his father. That particular escapade and the loss to Chaney started all of the turmoil that plagued that team the rest of the season. I believe two of our so-called stars were "injured" for the game against Big Red. One of the players refused to get onto the bus to Orrville later that season which caused a big mess in the locker room. I believe Coach Soroka was down to 24 or so players by the end of the season. Basically, those kids believed all of the preseason hype about themselves, forgetting what a tough schedule was ahead of them. It was the first season Campbell was an independent. And the schedule was stacked with some very good teams. At least two of the players on that squad had D-1 college talent. But from my perspective they were not coachable. I am not going to mention any names.

Coach Bayuk, Coach Sikora and the staff have done a great job with our kids. We've got a bunch of really good kids playing for Campbell these days. We should be very thankful to be blessed with such good men. Coach Bayuk got things turned around. Coach Sikora is seeing things coming to fruition. GO DEVILS !!!!!!!!!!!

I know who they where!! I went to school with some of them but they where 8th graders when they came up. that was the year that the 8th grade was pushed to the high school. I became friends with some of them and was Good friends with the ones Brother. They both had extreme talent but only one was dedicated to the team and the other was well went down in history as the team that caved in and started the down fall. The problem was it might have saved alot of those bad seasons we endured over the years if the season played out the way it should have. Cause i believe that Coach Soroka just didn't want to deal with it anymore and just hung his hat up after that. He would have been a very good coach for us going into the mid to late 90's! There was some great talent in all them teams in the 90's. But the problem was we didn't have a coach that could get the talent to work together.

About the Dvd's I will email him. I tried again today but lol no call back. But if you do get those dvds to burn i will pay you for you time and replace your Dvd's and then some. And we could meet up at the game... Just dont know what you look like. But if you know Tony Vavlas he could point me to you!!!

Campbell needs to stay focused and not look ahead to the Struthers game. There is too much riding on this game. If we win, we win the Blue tier title, are in a good position for a home playoff berth and set up a huge game versus our cross town rival.

It will be interesting to see which offense shows up for the Red Devils. Will it be the spread attack that we have been accustomed to? Or will it be the smash mouth version that gave Girard trouble. If I was Falls DC I would be a little stressed out right now because you only have so much time to prepare and that is going to be a lot to prepare for IMO. That is a great problem to have for the Red Devils.

Defensively, we need to get better at tackling. Too many arm tackles out there. Not enough hitting. But I will say this, we have gotten better.

We need to eliminate the turnovers and penalties in order to be successful. I think that this week we will see a ton of "laundry" out on the field at Newton Falls. Hopefully I am wrong.

    Good Luck Red Devils!

quick fyi...if struthers wins out they have a great shot at making the playoffs..
  • reddevil90
Its hard to find a team that can play spread and smash mouth!! We can score each time we have the ball. But we do fumble to much to keep a drive alive. we could have scored at least one more touchdown with girard. But Ja'les fumbled 3 time in the game. He is a fantastic back. But if you fumble on a game winning drive you will be more then likely be remembered as a great back that fumbled alot. He has to get that fixed before week 11 cause these teams coming up in the playoffs are in for a reason just like us. there dangerous. Campbell by 42 as i said before. Hope we get to see the talent for next year by half time.

Struthers is very talented. there QB is very young and very good when he is on his game.. He has gotten so much better over the season. Struthers is a well rounded team. And i will go as far and say they are better then Girard. Not much but they have played in some close games with teams that are ranked high... Will be fun to watch and i really hope people show up for that game .. Cause it will be embarrassing to have only 300 people there with a team that is i hope 8-1. When we use to bring a min of a 1000 to 1100 people to games on Friday nights. And that was just away games.

I know i should know this but what divsion and region is campbell in? And What is the division looking like. And who is are possible playoff opponents and what are there records and how do they look anyone know where i can get this info thanks
  • cmhs_pride
Gardens you are right...i am talking about a team that started it up after a dismal decade of Campbell football. The 1985 team brought back what we saw with the 1971 team...the 1964 team....all the teams of the 30's 40's and 50's. The 85' team just happened to be my era.

Understood. That mid 70's losing streak was miserable for the students and adults in Campbell. It would be good if some of the Campbell folk could realize that those 6-4, 5-4-1, 6-3-1 Steel Valley teams may have been just as "good" as the ones that get more of the recognition. They were playing Boardman, Fitch, Niles, Mooney, Ursuline, Hubbard etc at the time. Back then there were 3 size classifications, AAA(Big), AA, and A. I think that for most of the time that Campbell was in the SVC they were the only AA school. The competition week in week out was awesome, you could watch the last place team on the road beat the conference champion by 30, or see the conference champion beat the last place team on a two point conversion.

I'll leave with this, a year or so ago on another site there was a conversation of sorts about the old SVC. A former head coach who won a state championship said something along the lines of "You could beat Campbell 35-7 on Friday night and not have enough players physically able to practice on Monday."

Not sure. There are too many scenarios left to predict what the playoff pairings will look like. I do believe though that if Campbell wins out they may well have a first round game at home. Newton Falls has some of their injured players back for the Campbell game. And Campbell-Struthers is always interesting.
  • cmhs_pride
    I see a couple people's blood boiling.....DON'T ANSWER HIM FELLAS, ;).

Big1761...the way it was looking, I think we could win out and run into possible St. Clairsville if they do the same. Ofcourse who knows what could happen. I thought Chagrin Falls had 29 seniors on that team last year?? No rebuilding there....more like reloading.
  • soupcitysoldier
who are newton falls players that are back? any key ones?

Go Devils ............... we appreciate the L2 points !!

Good job Devil's way to fight both entities!! Why is it that when we travel cross county lines the refs are idiots. Now come on guys am i just seeing things!!! or did we get flagged for bull crap!! And did the other team get away with pretty much what they wanted. I seen them jump off sides at lease 2 times and not get called. and what about the late hit. And we showed them mercy at the end are you serious? If it was me i would have shoved the ball down there necks at the end.
