Genoa vs Eastwood

Easy now comets082. If I remember correctly I said Conner had 16, yes sixteen, carries not 10. Go back and watch the film, I am going to say all the carries he had was against the first teamers. When Vicars pulled his 1's so did Rutherford.

Not trying to start anything but yes that means he did have a good game and believe it or not the game did have a lot of meaning.

Yeah I think I remember Wyant calling plays now, I forgot about that. It's a good idea by the staff to do that, but does that in a way make Rutherford a lame duck? I mean I've been hearing grumbling from the Eastwood faithful and I'm curious about his future.

In my opinion Connor did have a good game versus Genoa last year running the ball up the middle, I was actually trying to state that it was poor playcalling from Eastwood by not giving him the ball more. Last year it worked well, but Genoa's D-line has a little more beef in the interior this year so I don't think it will be quite as successful. Also, Genoa will be looking for it more this time around.

Genoa was just straight up a better team. Props to Kyle Nutter though who had 41 carries for 219 yards. I mean that's some big numbers for anyone, especially a sophomore. Also Andrew Hayes deserves alot of credit as he was just blowing up plays all night on the line. Genoa is just on another level than Eastwood and the bottomline is until Eastwood can somehow close that gap I really don't think they'll beat Genoa. Man though Nutter is really developing into one heck of a back, reminds me a lot of Jeremy Foster really. Just an absolute workhorse. Anyways congrats to the Comets on what pretty much seals up a 4TH STRAIGHT SLL

Im not so sure that Genoa was on a "complete other level" tonight. The Comets did not look like the teams of the past 3 years. They are lacking a true QB (Bassitt) and a big time game changer (Wendt/Skilliter). They do still however have a very nice defense and a good power back in Nutter. I honestly dont see Genoa getting past week 12 once again this year but best of luck to them.

Anywho congrats to Genoa and even more congrats to the Eagles who played a great game and showed a lot of people that they have the ability to play with great teams.

Genoa looked a little casual imo for what imo is a big game. Got a win though. But what I was curious about is why Eastwood, while having the ball with 3+ mins left, pretty much ran the clock out on themselves? I mean they were throwing short their whole last drive and running the ball up the middle with Connor. I mean sure there was a poor chance they'd come back and win, but with playoffs pretty much on the line here I would have thought they'd be a little more aggressive. Absolutely suprised me how conservative they were. Eastwood has Lake and PH coming up, but I'm not sure if that will be enough.

Eastwood doesnt really have the QB or weapons to throw downfield, and to add to it their TE left the game in the 4th quarter with a concussion. Next year you will some more throwing possibly though

Well one ball was thrown downfield, but it looked like it was dropped? I didn't really have that good of an angle. Either way it was suprising how those last minutes played out. You gotta try it, imo, with what was at stake.

Eastwood should have done more to try and get the Dieker kid in open space. That kid played a great game and can move when he gets going North and South! I thought the Genoa lines controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the Ball and Nutter hit the holes hard and with trust/confidence. Very few ppl will recgonize that Dufendock had a phenomenal game as well even though stats might not show it. He was lead blocker for Nutter almost every play and never stopped during the play. Cuevas also played a good second half and I look for him to become MUCH more involved in upcoming weeks on both sides of the ball. Best of luck to the Eagles the rest of the way. Eastwood is a class program that is competitive in nearly every sport. The school does a lot for improving the standard of play in Northwest Ohio sports.

With that being said, keep on rollin comets!!!

Yes, Genoa definately controlled the offensive and defensive lines. Hayes was a complete monster on both sides whether it be him blowing up plays in the backfield or driving people and making holes for his backs.
  • theflagman61
There were at least 3 or 4 times Hayes met Connor in the hole and drove him back. That may have been his best game yet on both sides of the ball.
  • birddog23
    Hayes a junior or senior?
  • theflagman61
Senior plays both sides of the ball and long snaps barely off the field just the way he likes it. He took 1 week off after the playoff loss last year and has been training ever since he dropped about 30 pounds of belly and packed on muscle and footspeed. He just loves the game and as he says, I just do my job and it works.
