Rally in Death Valley

  • FairwoodKing
This Saturday will mark the inaugural Rally in Death Valley at Harding Stadium in Steubenville. The marquee game will be between St. Ignatius and defending national champ Don Bosco of Ramsey, NJ. The first game of the day will feature top-ranked Big Red with the top team from WV, Morgantown. The final game will be between many time state champ Wheeling Central and undefeated Bridgeport.

The best game should be the Big Red-Morgantown game. Morgantown has a potent offense that has averaged about 40 points per game. Big Red has a stifling defense. In four games, Big Red's first-string defense has not given up a point and has posted three shutouts.

I'm thinking that Iggy-Bosco game is going to be a brutal beatdown. Iggy just isn't the same this year as the past few years. Big Red-Morgantown should be a great game. Wish I could be there.

As long as you bring the food and the beer, you're more than welcome!

This is great for the city . I went to Wheeling a few years ago and Woodland Hills this year and both places have huge stadiums and so little support . Steubenville had more people at Woodland Hills than all four WPIAL teams combined . and down at Wheeling last year I had a great time ,but empty seats . Our stadium might be slightly smaller than those two places but it will be packed . I hope this is the beginning of a yearly event . It should be . The atmosphere at Harding on game day is second to none in HS football .

What is the ticket situation? I'm guessing that i can buy tickets at the gate? Do you need a different ticket for each game? Do you guys know the price(s)?

    Thanks.
  • BRfootball1
tickets go on sale tomorrow. No, its one ticket for all the games, but you will get a wristband so you can come and go as you please. I do think prices are 15 at the door. and MAYBE 10 at the ticket office. Dont hold me to the 10:00 .

I really think parking will be a problem Saturday.
  • Thinthickbigred
Parking is ok I think . Look at Hollywood . I mean us locals can park over in Manhatten walk to the game as usual . Just the Harding lot will not be open as normal . JMO Not sure what pre sale is . Gate is 15 . But 3 good games . The 3rd game will be like a playoff game . Bridgeport and Wheeling Central. If anybody on here needs suggestions as to where to park or directions just ask NP several eateries right within 5 minutes of stadium so you can chow inbetween games . There is parking across the street from Harding school .

Will people be able to park in the Kroger's lot? I parked there in the past and I have parked on a side street near a car dealership.

What are some good local eateries within walking distance?

What will the situation be with the Harding lot? Will the handicapped spots be open? I need to park there, and I hope I don't have the problem I had at the Wolvarena.

Hopefully there is alot of security outside of the stadium, especially after dark.

    Don Bosco +37 over Iggy
    Steubenville +20 over Morgantown
    Wheeling Central +10 over Bridgeport

    Looks like one good game.

hmmm sarcasm from Carrolton huh. Just seeing some real nice teams is good for this high school football fan . No way Don Bosco 37 over Iggy . I think Bridgeport will win a thriller . Why dont you guys do something up your way maybe a tractor pull or hey ride . We are football fanatics down here . You should show up and see for yourself . My bad you got harvest . good day .

Early reports are that the Harding lot will be held for the TV crews and the out of town busses comming to the event . Call the High school and find out what the handicap parking situation will be . My guess is they will permit handicap at the stadium entrance. but do not know .

No doubt you can park down there. Depending on what time you show up is how close to the stadium you will be . McDonalds is right next to the stadium Bob Evans and Pizza hut are right next to the stadium across the street. By Krogers you have Subway a Chinese resteraunt, Wendy's , Scaffidis Italian is right there as well . Everything is within 3 minutes walk . Very fan friendly.

Iggy will have home advantage this is Ohio . Alot of people will be pulling for the Ohio team .
  • ManO'War
Fox Sports bought up the entire Harding lot, so there will be no parking there.

Not meant as sarcasm. I would love to come down but have a fundraiser for a friend that has a very rare form of adrenal cancer.

I hope I don't have the same problem from the same people who hassled me at the Wolvarena. The parking lot was reserved for their VIP cars. Even though I have a handicapped license plate, they wouldn't let me use a spot until I showed them my cane and convinced them that I'm not faking. I'm not sure what they did was legal. There is no way I can walk from the Kroger parking lot, so I will need a handicapped spot.
