It's not really all that great. Not terrible. Passing game is inconsistent. Running game looked great today though. But we have been playing and racking up points against teams from MI and WV. Not good enough to win a state title IMO. The D is good enough to compete with the top dogs in OH but the offense is not.

And I'm not looking at numbers at all. Numbers don't give you an accurate picture. I'm basing my opinion on what I've watched at the games. The O is good enough to beat up on the teams we play, score enough to go undefeated but won't be enough to win state. Our O is relatively suspect.

The offense was not great last year and that was with a significantly better QB.

    Steubenville score?
  • Leonardo
    Steubenville won the opener, 35-7

I'm watching the Cinci-OK game. The ESPN announcer just made some VERY nice comments about Big Red.
  • FairwoodKing
It would have been a more entertaining game if Big Red had played Iggy. Morgantown was no match for us. At least Iggy would have given us some competition.
  • ManO'War
I think a better matchup would have been Iggy vs Morgantown and Big Red vs Bosco.

Big Red was by far the fastest team there today.

I agree with you. I think Iggy would have won pretty easy and Big Red vs Bosco would have made for one hell of a TV game.

All in all the event was a huge success IMO !!! Would love to see this event yearly at Harding Stadium.

I think we could have beat Bosco from New Jersey . I know we could have . Not saying we would have but saying we could have . . We would have beat Iggy . They were not as good as McKeesport . They are having a slight down year this year . I do think they will bounce back and go 6-4

    Yes . Absolutly

I like the Ohio vs out of state teams setup . I hope they do this again . It is really good exposur . Now Having seen 3 nationally ranked teams and several other highly ranked out of state teams play this year , In the future when Steubenville has a great team like 05-06 If I see Parkersburg WVA ranked in the USA top 25 again and not Big Red I will no longer consider those polls with any more respect than I do the OVAC ratings.

What was attendance for each game? Overall?
  • BRfootball1
The attendance for the BR game was great......after that everyone left..... Was not a big crowd for either of the last two games... pretty bad..
I think BR should have played last to bring in and keep attendance.
I thought security was great No one was standing in the isles watching the game. Kids were not running everywhere.
I was not impressed with the second game at all. I do think we could beat those two teams, or played and gave them a run for the money. Could have been a better game.

It was good Morgantown brought alot of people . Most of the Steubenville people stayed for the Iggy game . Iggy brought a decent crowd and so did Bosco didnt stay for the last game .Too many suds the day before but I saw alot of Bridgeport people watching the Iggy game . saw some Brooke people and Wheeling Park people . I think if central didnt play Bellaire that day all of them people would have been there rooting for Iggy . But the main event had a very nice crowd .
  • d.woods50fan.
maybe i was at a different event because crowd was great for 1st 2 games then the 3rd the home side was still pretty full and visitor side was only about 500 or so

Our injured player tore his MCL..... thinks he will be able to play. Had a MRI yesterday. Thank goodness . It could have been way worse. He was hit hard and went down hard. Would have rather have seen NO injury yesterday. Like to see another player that was hurt a few games ago back in the game, but it may not happen .

I do not think the crowd was that good for the second game. It could have been much better. I would have rather seen many BR fans stay, but that is the way it goes.

His mom said it was only a severe sprain; no surgery required. He should be ready to go for the Massillon game.

I was very happy sitting here in Florida and seeing Reno Field on National TV. They had a real nice package on the program. Interviewed Reno etc.

I'm glad that Thinthickbigred made the point about seeing some of the nationally ranked teams in the nation. He put it perfect. We can COMPETE. I've tried telling many of the big red nation that we can compete and beat nationally ranked Florida teams for some time now e.g. Plant, Manatee, Lakeland, Armwood, Dwyer, Jefferson, Southeast just to name a few.

How will you know until you play them? Many high school teams across the country could probably say the same thing. Step up to the plate and play them. Do you think Big Red would get on a plane and play in Florida or at a neutral site?

If they threw enough money at us, we would play on Mars.
  • snyds113
We would need every advantage to beat bosco.Including home field.
  • fish82
Bosco is decent, but moderately overrated IMO. This is Iggy's weakest team in 25 years...if they finish better than 4-6 I'll dance naked down main street.

If the game was played at Harding, Big Red would give Bosco all they wanted and then some. Florida/Texas teams, not so much.

I just think alot of us Big Red people get disgusted when through the years Brooke WVA and Parkersbugh WVa get into the USA today rankings . and teams from the WPIAL are almost everyyear in the top 25 . If we had not beat Woodland High last year in their first game they most definitly would have been in the top 25 and they ran off 14 strait after us . Ive seen Gateway in the top 25 and get shallacked by Mooney . All I know is sometimes we are due some notice . I am glad to see we are now we are in events that shine on us . I think all Ohio valley football fans should be proud of Steubenville . Just like I am proud of Wheeling Central and Madonna and other local teams that get to state . I will pull for Bridgeport when they beat Newark catholic this year. I am extremly proud to be Big Red today . TY Coach Sac and the Big Red family . Today is a good day . I hope all our guys get well soon because we have some heavy fights coming up .

Big Red has played many out of state (even a few states away) teams and all they get is hell from people on these sites. I'm pretty sure their record speaks for itself. Were Vs Woodland Hills @ Wheeling Island Stadium and Vs McKeesport @ Woodland Hills at neutral sites or am I mistaken? Please just let me know.

People like holdingout will always be a detractor . We are half the enrollment we once were and three times the football team we once were . We play huge schools and the smaller ones we play are powers We play Massillon now and people say oh they are not good anymore even though they make the state semis, we play the best the Ohio valley has or atleast the teams that are willing to play us Now we finnally start getting into these big media events and our enemies say get on a plane go play DeLasalle California go play a Florida team . I aint too worried about these jealous people . We are doing prttey darn good and I see more of these big media events coming . SHINE ON BIG RED SHINE ON !!!!!
