WEEK 5: LABRAE (2-2) AT CAMPBELL MEMORIAL (4-0)

  This is a big game for both as LaBrae travels to Campbell in an AAC-Blue game.
  Although Campbell has not played as well lately the Red Devils are 4-0. They need to eliminate the turnovers and execute better on offense. LaBrae is coming off a loss to Champion in a close game. Let's go. Your thoughts?

  I think it should be a good game Labrae had a couple tough losses in Salem and an improving Champion team. Campbell should win if they dont turn the ball over. Get the Athletes in space and let them run ready break

  Well Campbell wins on paper but football is played on grass! If the Campbell team from week 1 and 2 show up we win big. the Campbell team that played weeks 3 and 4 show up we could be in for a long night. Devils need to come out fired up. Like the song before the game Time to play the game! Its time to play Campbell football at home! Whats the difference in the 2009 team then the 2010 a few starters and determination! the 09 team never quit and played 4qt and this 2010 teams plays when they feel like it. Skevo was a big part of the offense for the last few years. But he is not the whole offense. They have wide outs that are better then most in the area. they have a Qb that is hands down smart fast and can throw under pressure! A kicker that kicks a country mile. Big line on offense and defense. Speed at the skill level . But after Skevo went down we run the power I alot. And we have great kids with skill on the bench, We fumble hold the ball like a loaf of bread. And to top it off it gets worse each week. My question is why has this not been corrected. Coaches go out of there mind with that. but on the side line not a single coach takes a kid to the side and tries to correct that. we are in trouble huddlers weather you see it or not. I feel we need a wake up call before we lose the kids and cant get them back on track. this team has it and its killing me to see this sloppy act they do. get up and play 4qts not when you have to. Play devils football all game long. Campbell should win! If weeks 1and2 show we smack Labrae! If the team that played Weeks 3 and 4 show we can very well lose. Teams are getting better Struthers Girard labrae. we are getting worse.

  All Campbell needs is a convincing win this Friday and all of the doubt will most likely be put the rest.

  I am looking forward to this game. We are still 4-0. We have improved on special teams and on defense. We need to pick up the intensity and focus this week on eliminating the turnovers. When we do that we will be hard to beat.

  coaching staff needs to coach...the kids will take on the personality of the coach. show some damn intensity...some high fives some helmet smacking some screaming and yelling...lets go already. wake up. im tired of this.

  It's good we are having this conversation about winning these days!! A couple of year's ago everyone was wondering if we would even ever when again!! Im sure the devils have alot of work to work do and the coaches see that. These guys have brought them along way over the last couple of years and i expect to see them continue to try to get better every week.

  Ok after calming down and thinking about it. Well we have to remember we are 4-0 even though we look like crap the last two games the facts still remain 4-0. Yes Campbell needs to turn it up a bit. Ok a lot! But remember this the second game we might as well say we won without Skevo. We scored a ton without him. I think it took a lot out of them. The time is right to slap this into overdrive now. We can talk all we want and if we where coach and stuff. But we are not we are not 4-0 cause we suck. we beat 2 very very good teams week 1 and 2! They are kicking rear against good teams. We just need to support them no matter what I'm going to say Campbell comes alive and pounds Labrae. 49-13!

  Labrae is coached by long time coach Bill Bohren. Their QB is a kid by the name of Carrington Herron, who is 6-2, 235. Their QB from last season, Andy Sekela, is now a running back. Matt Szorady is another good back. They have a good receiver in Andre Elkins. Labrae is small up front. But their linebackers and secondary are decent. So far, Campbell and LaBrae have played one common opponent, Mineral Ridge. Campbell beat Mineral Ridge 42-28 in week one. Labrae beat Mineral Ridge 21-12 in week two. Labrae's two losses are to Salem, 28-21 in week one, and to Champion, 14-7, last week. Their other victory was against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.
  
  Campbell once again will have the edge in size, speed, skill, and depth. Despite being 4-0 for the first time since 1999, the Red Devils have not played particularly well over the past two weeks. There have been too many turnovers. Last week vs. Brookfield, there were two fumbles during drives, one of them inside the Brookfield 10 yard line, both recovered by Brookfield. Although the defense and special teams kick coverage have both improved, I still see some of the kids trying to tackle too high.
  
  Maybe this offense is in the process of finding a new identity. Campbell did lose Skevo Zembillias, one of, if not their most dangerous weapons on offense. Maybe we have not seen the entire Campbell playbook as of yet. Who knows? Maybe Coach Sikora is waiting until week 5 to show some other wrinkles on offense. I may be reaching. But maybe not.
  
  The Red Devils looked like a team just going through the motions last week vs. Brookfield. As I watched the game last week, I sometimes felt like I was not at a football game. It seemed as if I was in church or at the ballet. The crowd was quiet. The performance on the field was less than I expected. Ditto vs. Liberty. Perhaps this is a team that just plays to the level of their competition. If that's the case, they should come out this week like they did in weeks one and two. This is a big game for both teams.   you MUST get better every game...the minute you get complacent your season is over. the way i see it this game is a deal breaker for campbell. they win it can turn around a negative trend to their season...they lose theyre in trouble going in to salem. make or break time. put up or shut up. seasons on the line. believe it.

  Has anyone seen the latest AP Poll. We won last week and dropped from 14th to 18th! What a joke!
  
  My questions to the players and coaches are:
  
  When are you gonna realize that no one is going to give you respect because you are projected to be a good team?
  
  When are we going to play with passion, intensity?
  
  When are we going to play with a chip on our shoulder like Memorial teams of the past?
  
  When are we going to see some hitting and mistake free football?
  
  I know that we can do it. The question is do you have the balls to got out and do it.
  
  I guess we will see on Friday.

  The way i see it is that they find a way to pull it out in the end. But you live by the swords edge you die by the swords edge. Don't know what we are going to see on the field this Friday but it better be a team that has found there identity. Cause we are getting no respect and guess what we don't deserve it yet. Respect is earned by the way you play and how you win. the first two games we won and got respect but all respect is gone when you play with no heart!
  
  One more thing Joe Eitel's has Campbell in 5th on the computer rankings. But the official OHSAA has Campbell in 4th and on there way to a home playoff game. So here it comes my Question can Campbell do this. can they find it in themselves to get far in the playoffs? Or are the going with the flow to only turn the heat up when need too. I'm worried but a win against a good Girard or Champion will silence my doubts. But this region 13 is filled with teams that can hang and beat division 2 Powerhouse's. Martins ferry is one and i live close to them, By watching the news down here and hearing stories of this team they are Monsters and always beat teams that are not confident. And there is Perry they are there every year. Campbell better start to showcase there talent or this season will be over Round one. I for one would love to stay in 4th or 5th and let the top seeds play it out with the others first cause a upset happens in each division every year. We do not want to Play Perry or Martins ferry first. I know we have to take care of weeks 5-10 first but one cant help but to wonder.

  Very good game devils! defense is looking much better offense executed much much better. But one issue i see is J Hughes is a very nice back but boy he does not understand how to hold a football. Better watch it #3 #7 looked very good in mop up. That's 3 weeks in a row he has put it on the ground inside the 10. coach better find a way to stop him from swinging the ball around in the air when trying to make cuts. But other then that i think they showed a better group effort all the way around airing and running. and they did not look dead out there. Impressed me on defense

  Nice win. Two blocked Punts, a shut out and a 200 yard rusher. The turnovers are still killing me. But the second half was pretty good.
  
  Big game this week with a ton of points to be made. Perry lost so did woodridge. So we should be in the top 4. Lakeview and girard should move up with some good wins last night.

  i think we found our identity last night...especially on offense. very proud of our team...we stepped up and answered the bell. huge game next week...if we pull that out watch out. defensively we looked very good. lots to like last night...

  I'm sorry Guys i have to ask this. Why is Shawndale Ray and Charles Smith sitting. i mean those two every time playing in mop up they destroy the defense.

  A nice win for the Red Devils. Hopefully this will put to bed any thoughts that this team has no heart. The defense played well the entire game. John Sikora had an exceptional game from his LB spot, making several key stops. Offensively, Campbell executed much better than the past two weeks, despite turing the ball over twice in the red zone and playing in some less than ideal conditions. Campbell was 4th in region 13 last week and could move up a spot or two when the new ratings come out next week. On a side note I would like to congratulate all of the newly elected HOF members including my friends Tom Beeson, B.J. Deluca, and my 1974 classmate Frank "Dunkin" Minnie. I also congratulate our 2010 homecoming queen Keri Lipinski. Next up for 5-0 Campbell is a big game at 4-1 Salem with some big time computer points on the line.

  With the perry L and woodridge Campbell should climb to around 3rd not a big jump. but trust me guys i just found out martins ferry is all paper winners. they can be beat. They have played some teams that are good but it comes down to intimidation. when people hear martins ferry down here its like they already give up. I will have to say Martins ferry will loose in the next 3 weeks. they are gong to have to play My sons team Indian creek and they don't fear many.
