Why do we hate other schools?

  • skank
Well, with Boardman and Fitch looking to exit the Federal League, no doubt talk will resurface about Massillon joining the league, and if they ever do get in, (which would no doubt be several years away), that would only make things tougher as far as continuing our series.

Is it for sure that Fitch and Boardman are leaving the Fed? You're right, that would make it easier for Massillon to get in. You're also right that if Massillon gets into the Fed and Big Red joins the ECOL, there may be no way that we can continue to play each other. I hope that doesn't happen.

Fitch and Boardman really have limited options if they were to leave. Warren Harding has joined the Lake Erie League, so the only Mahoning Valley teams that would be willing to be in a conference with them would be Urusline and Mooney, but Fitch and Boardman don't seem to want to be a conference with them because they have a hard time competing in football.

They are rumored to be interested in the "new" All American Conference, and one of them, I believe it is Fitch, has supposedly already applied.

What is so new about the AAC that would make Fitch interested?
  • skank
I just call it "new" because it's not the "old" AAC, that included Massillon, Mckinley, Warren, Steubenville, Alliance and Niles. That's all.

But I believe they are both interested because it would cut down on travel alot and they would, I believe, be ALOT more competative, as opposed to constantly driving to Stark County.

Fitch and Boardman would love to be in the red division of the AAC. I just don't see Canfield, Poland, Niles, Howland, etc. approving that.

You should have called the "old" AAC the "real" AAC. Today's AAC can't compare.

Wouldn't Fitch and Boardman be at a disadvantage in getting into the playoffs since they would be playing so many smaller schools? Maybe the potential computer points would be there, but I just don't see it.

Depending upon who they played non-conference, they would still be OK. Howland and Canfield have been good D2 teams the last several years, and Poland has been a good D3 team. If you beat D2 teams that are winning 7+ games each year, you still generate many second level points. The difference in first level points between D1 and D2 is only .5 points. If Boardman and Fitch would want to play Chaney and East non-conference, it could create some problems unless those programs turn around. It was nice to see Boardman step up a little non-conference last year and play Mooney. Boardman played Mooney extremely tough, and lost a close, hard-fought game. I would like to see Boardman and Fitch in a Mahoning Valley conference, but I'm not sure if I see teams agreeing to it in the near future. As many of other posters here know, many teams are denied being admitted to conferences/leagues because teams in those conferences/leagues want to go 10-0 every year instead of improving the quality of the conference/league.
