Why do we hate other schools?
-
MANAZEso instead of wearing Roll Red Roll shirts they have shirts that say For Him and Christ First? Do the kids have attitude problems? I kind of get it but at the same time not really.
And there is a difference between playing because you love the game and playing because you hate someone else. You don't make it out of high school football if you only play to be "them". -
Con_AlmaIf I 'hate" a school or sports team I have lost perspective.
One can be emotionally charged about an event or competition and not hate. Maybe that's one of the life's lessons we are trying to teach our kids by providing them the opportunity to compete. -
justcompeteI have been a part of the best rivalry in central Ohio for many years. Watterson and DeSales have nothing but respect for each other, and I have never heard the word hate used when speaking of these two teams.
It's high school people, most of the players will never play past high school so enjoy every play while you can. The most important thing is that the boys get good grades and enjoy their high school experience. PERIOD. -

FairwoodKingI don't think Big Red people hate anybody. Naturally we're disappointed when someone beats us, but that doesn't equate to hatred. We certainly don't hate Inkster for snapping our 68-game regular season winning streak. We just rescheduled them for this year and we will try again. As far as Mooney is concerned, yes, they beat us badly last year. But we beat them in 2008. This year it's our turn.

coyotes22I hate Big Red and its fan base!!!!!!!!!

I can see why. We nearly shut you out last year and we are going to do it again this year!coyotes22 wrote: I hate Big Red and its fan base!!!!!!!!! -

Con_AlmaOf course you could have let that pass. You can be a bigger person if you choose.
There 's no requirement to brag in order to preserve the honor of a school. There* are other ways of doing it. -

It is not that people hate the schools and the programs. I think some programs are top notch, but the the majority of the fans, are the so called over the top fans. They do not know when to stop.FairwoodKing wrote:

As i have said before I can talk football all day with the best of fans but when they start saying wait till football , or what happened last year, just wait, we got another new kid from somewhere and they say it with a resounding (we are the best) actually mean when they say it. That is what I see. If it is a close game or a loss their is always an excuse. Our best kid was hurt, those refs were from out of town. Just accept it and move on to the next week. You are not going to change history. Do not sit there and Lie to my face and tell me there is no recruiting going on , Don't tell me you don't get any breaks on your home field, Don't tell the news media does not cover your school the same as the others. That is the perception that I have on why people hate schools. -
ManO'WarThen people must "hate" every school, since I hear those same things said about games all over.
-
ManO'WarAs far as the media is concerned, it is a business, not a charity or non profit, so they are going to cover the teams that are successful and have the most fans.
-

Relax. I was just joking. This is only the second time in 75 years that Big Red can brag about beating Massillon. Let us have our fun.Con_Alma wrote: Of course you could have let that pass. You can be a bigger person if you choose.

bigman91I never really hated any school or teams, yes I wanted to beat our rivals, but I didn't hate them. Our area is so small, most likely we were on the same baseball team or ran summer track together.
My question is to the fathers or mothers, when you read or hear about people having so much hate for your son/daughters team. How does it affect you, do you ignore it? I guess what I'm trying to get at is, my son will be a sophmore next year, he waited forever to get to the varsity level,he was a waterboy since the fifth grade and is busting his butt now getting ready for football season. I feel some people have so much anger for someone elses fans, that they don't think about the kids.
Sorry, I wanted to come on here and just say hate is strong word for something being played by teenagers. And the father side came out. I guess no parent ever wants someone hating on their kids.
Yes, he's like a bull in a china shop, eats all the food in the house, and has his mothers speed in the forty, but he's a good kid, no matter how much the fans drive you up a wall. -

As a father of 2 that have graduated in the past few years I will have to tell you it is tough to see people bashing your sons team/school. It was hard to stay out of the fray. What I came to realize was that people were not attacking the kids but more the posters that got under their skin. I to get to wrapped up in it some times. I would bet that all who make these comments have no hard feelings toward any student athlete and will wish them well even though they may not like that fan base.bigman91 wrote: I never really hated any school or teams, yes I wanted to beat our rivals, but I didn't hate them. Best advice I can give is to get some thick skin. HAHA But as a father I guarantee you will wish you could meet some of the posters face to face.
Good luck to you and your son! -

Dont get to cocky there old man. We had a good offseason on the "free agent" market.FairwoodKing wrote:

Plus, didnt we trade you a WR and a second round draft pick next year, for a RB and a CB?

Don't make any cracks about Big Red fans. There will be thousands of us invading your stadium in October. If I can swing it financially, I will be among them!coyotes22 wrote:

Thousands, some probably spending the night in the area, don't forget to remind the guy in charge of the toothbrush to bring it.FairwoodKing wrote:

We have a lot of very nice hotels in the area, some are even located near trailer parks for your, (Steubenville fans) comfort.
I hear some of the hotels, or was it trailer parks? Either way, one of them are running a deal just for Steubenville people the night of the game if you bring your wife, it's half price, if you bring your sister, it's another 20% off, if your wife IS your sister, it's free. So, I guess most of you Steubenville people can leave your wallets at home. I guess Meals would be the only reason to bring your wallet as road kill frickisee is frowned upon up here.
Anyway, can't wait to see all of the mullets. -

FairwoodKingReno said that Big Red and Massillon are trying to extend the series past 2010. I hope this happens. We need to establish a true rivalry. Massillon already has a couple of rivalries, particularly McKinley, so this isn't as important to them. But Big Red needs a rival.

Big Red's problem will come up if we join the ECOL. Then we will have weeks 6-10 (and maybe 5-10) pre-scheduled for us. I don't know if Massillon could work us in early in the season.skank wrote:
