Monta Ellis claims to be 2nd best player in NBA

Yup. 6th men who get rebounds and offer little to nothing offensively are a dime a dozen. Varejao is definitely one of the better examples of these guys, but I still stand by my opinion. That's just me, you are allowed to have your own opinion of value.SQ_Crazies wrote: Varejao is a 6th man of the year candidate, an All-Defense team candidate and 2nd in the league in +/- (which some say is a pointless stat, but I've always thought that over a stretch of time the stat tells you a lot--it's pointless if it's based on a single game). Those guys are a dime a dozen?
LOL, here we go again... -
SQ_CraziesGood because what I described is not a dime a dozen player. If Varejao's were a dime a dozen, the Cavs wouldn't have signed him to 6 years and a possible 50 million. He wouldn't have gotten 10 million per season offers from other teams last summer either.

SQ_Crazies??
My opinion was that I would take Andy over Ellis. I VERY CLEARLY said that I can understand why someone would take Ellis and gave my reason for taking Andy.
And I took the IMO out of my last post because that isn't an opinion. It's a fact that players like Andy are not dime a dozen players. It's just a case of jordo not appreciating him for the player he is--not singling you out jordo, a lot of people don't give Andy the credit he deserves but they're slowly starting to. -
SQ_CraziesDime a dozen guys sign for the minimum or they sign ten day contracts. They're either journeymen with a new team all the time or they're in and out of the league. D-League, playing in Europe, etc.
Dime a dozen players don't get 10 million per season, long term contract offers. They don't sign for 6 years with the best team in the league. -

Since Ellis threw out an incredibly stupid statement I thought I'd join the fun.LTrain23 wrote: That's a strange post^

Jordo..AV is much better than Monta Ellis as a player. Monta is despised by Warrior fans. They can't stand him. These are the people that watch him play everyday.jordo212000 wrote:
Haha. I don't care man, we've already established that Ellis isn't a centerpiece guy. He shouldn't be a focal point guy, but to say you'd take Varejao before Ellis is just silly. Varejao will never be a guy who averages 20 plus regardless of the team he plays on. And now if you counter argue that Varejao is more of a glue guy that hustles and gets rebounds, well those guys are a dime a dozenSQ_Crazies wrote:
Refer to a word in your own post. TEAM. If I were building a team I'd want Varejao over Ellis. I can understand other opinions--people already do build teams differently and there is no default winning setup. I'm not saying Varejao is the better player individually (it's apples to oranges anyways) but he helps a team WIN more than Ellis does. Ellis will help your team score points, but WINNING isn't all about scoring points--that's only part of the equation.jordo212000 wrote:
I'd love to see you run a team. That would be endless comedy for me. If you think Varejao is a better player, you have even less sports knowledge than I thought you did.sleeper wrote: I'd take Varejao... over this joker.
Conversely, Cav fans really appreciate what AV does for the Cavaliers. Obviuosly, these 2 players are night and day with what they do. But...
Golden State will get rid of Monta when the season ends. -
SQ_CraziesYou continue with an argument that means absolutely nothing...yawn...
-
SQ_CraziesNow there is an argument for him over Andy, but your BS about the fans not liking him is totally pointless.
-
FootwedgeFor the "whatever it's worth" column. The Warriors are beating the Clips in LA at the half by 17 points. Noteworthy? Only that Monta is not playing. Hey SQ...you think that's a coinky doink?

If the fans don't like their own player, what does that say about the player?SQ_Crazies wrote: Now there is an argument for him over Andy, but your BS about the fans not liking him is totally pointless.
That is somehow pointless? Who had a better reading on how bad Damon Jones was defensively...or how bad Larry Hughes was...the Cav fan base or the national media? -
SQ_CraziesAll I'm saying is it doesn't have anything to do with him not being a good player. Not sure why you're trying to argue with me about this, I said I would take Andy over him too.
-
Cleveland BuckI would easily take Varejao over Ellis if my goal was to build a winning team. You don't find guys that can rebound and defend as well as Andy as easily as you can find slashers that can put a lot of points on a lot of shots and don't do much else. Ellis is a talented player, but he makes his team worse by being on the floor, so unless he is going to score 60 a game, he isn't worth having.

FootwedgeGS wins only their 5th game on the road this year. Overcame the loss of Monta.
