Quinn v. Anderson
-
thedynasty1998I do think Quinn should be playing, but that's not because he's better. I think you do have to see if Quinn has any promise at all. If he doesn't, you move on without him after this year.
At this point, there is no doubt in my mind that Anderson is twice the QB that Quinn is. -
jpake1I think the staff knows what they have with Quinn. This is a move to at least take some of the heat off. They suck, they know it. But the last thing the staff wants to hear is how bad they suck and how much they should play Quinn. At least they don't have to listen to Cleveland fans bitch and moan about putting Brady in.

FAIRLAND6the team sucks and the coach needs fired. neither qb can win with this team.

if you dont draft some linemen to give the qb some time , you wont need any playmakersdm27 wrote: we don't have receivers that can get downfield, catch the ball, and have no run game. the o-line is giving no time for quinn so what the hell is he supposed to do. we saw anderson the past few weeks and it was putrid so unless we draft playmakers it wont matter who the browns have at qb. -

i remember roethlisbergers rookie year he looked comfortable in the pocket in his first startytownfootball wrote: I can't understand how you think a guy that hasnt' played more than three games in a row can be expected to look like Joe Montana in the pocket. -
noreply66both QBs are not putting points up so I'm thinking it not the QBs

SQ_CraziesWell, exactly. It isn't just the QB's--I've been trying to tell my buddies that all season. Hell for three years now I've been saying that--but the average Browns fan thinks that if they had Peyton Manning they'd win the Super Bowl.
They have a mediocre offensive line, not terrible but not good. No running back. The worst recievers in the league. A defense that is very inconsistant--they played fairly well last night but for the most part they're terrible. Another thing the defense doesn't do well is take aways--that's a huge part of being a good team. But that's my whole point, I honestly believe that they have a QB who is good enough in Anderson, he just needs a team around him. They dismantled a team that went 10-6...figure that out. A team that should have made the playoffs, but didn't because they couldn't beat Cincy--and everyone put that on Anderson. He didn't have his best in that game at all, but the fact is the blame for not making the playoffs shouldn't have been ANYBODY on the offense. The defense was BAD that year just like they always are. You would think in a division with the Ravens, Steelers and now surging Bengals that the Browns would have figured out they need a stellar defense by now. But you know the average Browns fan, they think Wimbley is as good as Ware. -

I don't know one Brown fan that thinks that. Not here nor in real life.SQ_Crazies wrote: Well, exactly. It isn't just the QB's--I've been trying to tell my buddies that all season. Your attempt at insulting the average Browns fan is a huge fail. -
SQ_CraziesActually, it's not a huge fail...not at all. Clearly I exaggerated there, but not by a whole lot. The average Browns fan is one of the most clueless I've come across anywhere in professional sports. It's like the average OSU fan in college sports--maybe it's something about Ohio. They're dumb too. Don't get me wrong, I love the Buckeyes but I can't stand some of our fan base the majority of the time.

noreply66Both would do well with New England---its the coaching
-
thedynasty1998Although getting a better QB doesn't solve all problems, I don't think you can look at the current roster and say that the Browns have a capable NFL starting QB. But you could say that for most all positions on the field.
-
NateI'm giving until after the draft to decide if I will stay with the Browns. I do not want to quit rooting for them but I'm sick of all the changes and NOTHING has worked. We have like 11 draft picks this year. If there is nothing in that class to get excited about, I am done. They dismantled the offense by losing Winslow and Edwards (at least they have potential still), they signed Lewis to another contract when he can barely get out of the backfield without a Rascal (motorized scooter). I do not want them to draft a QB with their top 5 pick. #1 you cause even MORE controversy at the QB position. #2 You still lack an offense player that is a threat to score. I don't think you draft defense either with the top 5 pick even though most of the projected top 5 are defense. Defense isn't necessarily great but the offense is averaging under 10 points a game. You need to score to win first before stopping someone from scoring.
-
SQ_CraziesNegative. They need to tank the season and draft Eric Berry. Defense is DEFINTELY where they need to go with their first pick. You can build a decent offense through free agency. If it were my call, I'd be tempted to pick defense with all of the 11 picks I had.
-
Nate
I agree that Berry is a stud. I don't think you can build through free agency in Cleveland unless there is no salary cap and Lerner starts dropping mad cash out. What big name offensive player is going to want to play in Cleveland right now? You aren't going to get a difference maker for the Browns through FA right now. FA WR's are going to come to Cleveland because they don't have a QB. QB isn't going to come because there is no WR's. RB's are going to laugh because there is no passing game.SQ_Crazies wrote: Negative. They need to tank the season and draft Eric Berry. SQ_CraziesSo you draft a guy who doesn't want to play in Cleveland? Pay him a ton of money and then watch him leave? Hasn't that happened before? Kellen Winslow? Braylon Edwards? What they've proven is that you can't build your defense through FA, ESPECIALLY in their division. If they're a legit player, one of the other division teams is going to offer them. If they're going to sign in the midwest what do you think they're going to do? Hmm, you want to play for the Browns D, or the Steelers D?
Draft defense, make your defense elite--the cornerstone of your team and work on your young offensive players and try to improve through FA. This isn't going to be some 1 year deal, the Browns won't be relevant for 4-5 years and that's IF they do it right. You have an elite defense, then you work on the offense--offensive FA's look at a teams defense. -
jpake1The Browns suck, not too many FA want to come there. The only FA they'll find are guys on their last leg that want to start. Hence, why I say sign John Kitna for a year or two. After seeing him play for the Cowboys, he can still throw the ball quite well. They'll just have to develope guys. That's the only way to get from the bottom to the top. I think they need to draft Berry and hope that Norwood falls to the 2nd round. Build that defense up so it'll at least keep you in games. Try to build that Oline up in the first 3 rounds. I think the last thing they need to do is draft somebody like Jimmy C and be paying 2 QB's a lot of money on the roster, that don't have shit around them quite yet.
-
SQ_CraziesIf they draft Clausen, I may never stop laughing.
Question: if they do that, how many of you Browns fans will give up on them? Because I would if I were in your shoes. -
NateIf Jimmy C is drafted, I'm done with the Browns. I'll draw a team out of a hat to decide who I'll root for.

Thats what i did and luckily i ended up with the coltsKeebler wrote: If Jimmy C is drafted, I'm done with the Browns. I'll draw a team out of a hat to decide who I'll root for. -
Nate
I'm thinking about filtering out the powerhouse teams (Steelers, Colts, Pats), refuse to root for Baltimore. I have actually thought about switching to the Bengals just because I like Ochocinco and Palmer.chs_football wrote:
