There is so much jealousy over lebron james that...

Once again... what the heck are you talking about? Manning was the MVP whether you like it or not. I'm not sure how you can twist the argument in you favor when the majority of people thought he was the MVP.dwccrew wrote:
Because Manning could have put his team in position to win and couldn't do it. The first SB the Colts won with Manning wasn't even because of Manning, it was Rhodes, I believe, that led them to a win and he should've won the MVP.
Lebron will win more titles when his career is over than Manning will have. It also took Manning something like 9 years to win a title. We'll see if Lebron can get a win within his first 9 seasons. Lebron is in his 7th and the Cavs have a good shot at winning.
Lebron puts his team in positions to win, he just usually gets no help (in the playoffs). Manning is the only one to blame for that pick 6. Terrible throw and read. He must shoulder most the blame for that loss. He couldn't even score when they were within the redzone, what, three times in the second half? Choke artist.
It took Manning 9 years? So what. That is still a championship. This is a terrible argument when you consider that the guy you are arguing for hasn't won anything. Do I think Lebron will win a championship? Probably. But until he does, you can't sit there say "oh well he is going to win more championships... eventually"
Bad throw by Manning at the end of the game, yes. But the guy jumped the route. You just gotta tip your cap to the defense there. As for the 0-3 in the red zone, I can't help but think about the final play they had where he hit Reggie Wayne in the hands. -

And so what if they hit Reggie Wayne? They were most likely not going to get the onside. Just too much working against them. And my argument isn't that Manning isn't great, he is one of the best. But he isn't clutch and before this SB, I would have put him top 3 all-time, but now I wouldn't even put him in the top 5. He just isn't clutch. Lebron, in my mind, is clutch. The problem is he hasn't had a great supporting cast to help him out. I am not a Cavs fan or a Colts fan, so I have no biased here.jordo212000 wrote:

Also, I understand that Manning won the MVP. I never discredited that. He is a very good QB, but I don't think he can handle the pressure in big pressure situations. Hasn't been since he was at Tennessee.
Manning has one SB and I hope he gets more, but in big pressure situations, I wouldn't want Manning. -
Strapping Young LadReggie Wayne has to get inside of the defender on that. Lebrick is the single biggest choking dog in sports right now. He's the King, baby. The King. Wait the King has never won anything???? No??? I rest my case.....

Lovejoy1984How exactly has LeBron choked?

mtrulzCool story bro.

cviewI didn't give two fucks about whether he shook hands or not. It isn't high school.
I think a lot of people, myself included, found it more odd that he skipped the press conference. It didn't "disturb" me at all because I'm not a Lebron/Cavs fan, but I did find it somewhat childish that he left his teammates and coaches to answer the tough questions. He had no problems finding the podium following his MVP award or his unbelievable shot in Game 2, but after that ass got tapped he was nowhere to be found. Not really a big deal now with Manning and not really a big deal then with LBJ...when people are complaining about you not shaking hands you must be doing a lot of other shit right. -
bo shemmy3337What Lebron did was not the same as what Manning did. End of story. Lebron was wrong and he apologized for it. It is over. The fact that people in Ohio constantly think that Lebron james is the god of all basketball is why I am not a huge Cavs fan. You cant even watch a Cavs game game anymore. It is sickening. If lebron passes to anyone on the team and they hit a great shot, it's what a pass by LBJJJJ. Who gives a shit about one player. MVP yea but come on. Basketball is fun to watch because of a team. If Lebron is on the bench, they show him biting his nails when the game is on. When he shoots 30% from behind the arc and keeps firing away, people continue to think he is a great shooter. You can not win an argument with these obsessed Lebron fanatics. He is god and that is how they see it. The NBA is not basketball anymore anyway. Their bullshit rules of defensive 3 seconds only clears the way for guys like Lebron to have those great dunks. No Zone defense either? The NBA is molding the rules around star players to make money. I would rather watch college any day of the week.
Fuck Lebron and Kobe for that matter. -
jpake1Nice to see that this is going on. Anymore these days, I don't know who is more annoying... immature Laker fans, or Cav fans that look for an arguement around every corner but act like they don't. You guys were made for each other. Enjoy the ride all you cute couples.

SQ_CraziesLOL yes, well said--except for the fact that zone defense is legal. Which tells me that you haven't watched the NBA any more than you've watched Oprah in 5-6 years. No wonder you don't think it's basketball. Zone defense would kill most teams that ran it in the NBA. Guys are too athletic and learned ways to beat zones as fundamentals. A lot of older guys don't think the NBA is basketball anymore either--what they don't realize is that the average players basketball IQ is 10 times higher than it was back in the day because the game has evolved based on what those former players did so the game is played a lot differently now.

SQ_CraziesI wasn't aware that zone defense was played inside the paint...LMAO
-
2quik4u
you saq off your defense to play help defenseSQ_Crazies wrote: I wasn't aware that zone defense was played inside the paint...LMAO -
SQ_CraziesSo you're inside the paint? Also, defensive 3 seconds is void when there is an offensive player in the area. If you actually watch the game often, you see zone every so often. I saw it in a game the other night, though I can't remember what game it was--may have even been whoever the Cavs were playing. But teams don't run it because it's not the best defensive strategy in the NBA. Beating a zone is a strategy game--all the guys in the league know how to do that. You line up man to man and you just have to beat your guy--that's not always as easy.
-
2quik4uSo you can't play a zone defense inside the paint? Usually when in a zone you will help play help defense when the ball gets in the paint.
-
SQ_CraziesLOL, so you help when the ball is in the paint? Why would you be worried about defensive 3 seconds with the ball in the paint? Zone defense is legal in the NBA, it is used sparingly and the reason is because it doesn't work. Professional basketball players can beat a zone defense in their sleep.
-
2quik4u
Ok so the ball can't be kicked out and then passed back in? The far side defender is still going to play help defense.SQ_Crazies wrote: LOL, so you help when the ball is in the paint? SQ_CraziesI'm still missing your point completely...that's still defensible without getting called for defensive 3 seconds. Defensive 3 seconds is void if the guy is guarding someone. That rule is in there so that Dwight Howard can't stand under the rim and not even have to guard anyone. Would you rather him be able to do that? That's like Slamball defense, you might as well give him the trampoline.
-
2quik4u
I was trying to say if the help defenders man is close the 3 point line in the wing, while he is helping on the post. Yes I can understand the Dwight Howard thing but he is only one player. I really believe the rule was made to clear the lane up.SQ_Crazies wrote: I'm still missing your point completely...that's still defensible without getting called for defensive 3 seconds. jpake1Who is on 1st?
-
bo shemmy3337First off all I never said it was illegal, just that there is no zone defense in the NBA. How does one run a 2-3 zone when your not aloud in the paint? Zone does not work because of the 3 second rule. Not illegal just not possible to run. Big difference. Still there is no zone and the NBA is molded around players like Lebron to sell tickets.

You are correct. The rule was made to clear the lane for big dunks and to make the game more flashy. The game of basketball is a simple one. Offensive players know where they are going and defensive players get beat constantly. This is what help defense is for but with the lane clear defensive players must either foul or let the big dunk go down.
These rules are exactly why USA got smoked years back in the world challenge. This is not basketball, it's the NBA. -

You are so off here. Boston and LA from the 80's would smoke these clowns. Have you ever watched those guys play? They actually hit open jump shots consistently, I know its odd. If the rules were what they used to be these NBA players now would get schooled.
Boston had actual ball movement and would get open look after open look. And yes they would hit those shots. Lebron would foul out via charges and help defense. -
SQ_CraziesZONE IS ALLOWED. LOL, no one runs it because it doesn't work not because of defensive 3 seconds.
And you have your 80's--a game against today's stars wouldn't be close, I don't really care what you think. How you can assume that players bigger, stronger, faster, smarter aren't better, I'm not sure. How you can be stupid enough to not think that technology has evolved every sport and collectively athletics are better on every front than in the 80's, I'll never know.
