Anderson Varejao = horrid?

Now name 5 that come off the bench, those are all starters.

John Hollinger has him as the DPOY...so yeah, it's definitely not out of the realm of a possibility.
  • Cleveland Buck
I'll give you LeBron and Kobe and KG when he is healthy. Chris Paul is a decent on ball defender who gets a lot of steals, but he's not a great defender. Camby isn't close, at least not anymore.

Lol and u actually like hollinger and his system?

Just pointing out the fact that he's being discussed as a top defender coming off the bench, not getting time that others do to accomplish the same things. He's a solid defender, and it really isn't arguable.
  • Hb31187
Nobodys arguign that hes not a solid defender. Im arguing that hes not top 5. Not even really close

Anybody who says Andy isn't worth the money is an idiot and should START watching Cavs games so next time they come on here and post, they'll have a clue about what the fuck they're talking about..

I used to DESPISE Andy because he didn't do much but flop, however he has vastly improved as a player. The guy HARDLY flops any more and is now one of the better defensive big men in the league. He routinely gives opposing players head aches and his activity is usually needed on this sometimes lethargic Cavs team.

By the way, the poll is flawed. I ruined everything because I voted "no".. shame on me.. I should read the question more carefully next time lol. I meant to vote yes, he is worth a damn.

    That's exactly what I'm saying.

I hate Andy. I think he is annoying and flops more than Vlade Divac; but he does what he is supposed to do for the Cavs. Play tough and with energy.

yeah i know, top five could be argued all day with no one winning, of bench guys I'd put him top 5, all total though I'd probably not have him in it .

His "system" is legit. You don't like it--right now--b/c it goes against your opinion. I can't wait til you site it later in the season when he throws out something good about a Nugget.

Lol he never throws out good things about the nuggets in fact theyre always ilke 20 somethin in his power rankings.

His system is kinda dumb IMO
  • Cleveland Buck
His system for ranking players is better than his system for ranking teams. Hell, after the Cavs beat the Lakers, L.A. jumped them to #1 in his rankings.

    Yeah I doubt that.

Either way, if you really think Varejao is top 5 sports and lady haha....you're def on something.
  • hoops23
His team ranking systems needs a little tweaking, however Hollingers PER rating for players is legit.

I haven't said he's top 5...I'm saying someone out there with good credibility has him as #1...so someone saying he's top 5 isn't as ridiculous as you're making it out to be.

And yes, i'm def on something...its nice.

Solid player. Doesn't do any dumb shit. Not sure I'd have him as a top 5 defender but John Hollinger is a smarter person than I am.

Anyone that gets significant NBA minutes, especially on a team as good as the Cavs, is pretty fucking good at basketball. Definitely not horrid. As there is always one exception to every rule...Smush Parker, please stand up.
  • Footwedge
Heck with defense. He gives the Cavs a whole pile of second chances on offense. He's the best garbage man I've ever seen since Paul Silas played for the Celtics a long time ago.

THIS (well except for the last paragraph...how you're a screw-up when it comes to polls, while personally embarrassing for you, doesn't take from the argument) is the truth.

Andy's the definition of a glue guy. He's never going to be great stat-wise, but he will do all the dirty work to win. He's the guy that outleaps 2-3 opposing players to tip a rebound to a teammate. He's the guy who dives on the ground to snare a loose ball or force a jump ball. He's the guy who takes (flop or not) key charges. I honestly think Bill Simmons was right during the previous season when he put him FAR higher in his MVP column than most people would even contemplate. Regardless of his stat line, he seems to make a noticeable impact more often than not.

shit i didnt read the question carefully, i meant to say yes. AV is a player that you love to have on your team because he annoys the crap out of people but you hate him if you're the opposing team/fan because of that fact.
  • SQ_Crazies
I'm sorry but if you think he isn't a vital part of this team and a hell of a lot better than horrid then you either don't watch much or you just don't understand the game that well. There is no way you can think he's horrid and doesn't bring anything to the team, that's insane.
  • bigdaddy2003
I agree he definitely adds something. I guess I was given the wrong info about his salary. I was told he was getting like 6 or 8 a year. If he is only making close to league minimum then that is fine. My main problems with him is the way he acts like he never fouls anyone and how he flops but he has cut a lot of that out now.
  • Cleveland Buck
Andy makes $6.4 million per year and is worth every bit of it.
