  You knew this crew was a little out of it early on and might be shaky down the stretch and that's what happened.

  Childress needs hung for even thinking of calling the pass play near end of regulation. run the fucking ball, call timeout with 3 seconds left, and rely on your kicker for the win. That ain't rocket science, just pure common sense. My wife, yes, I said my WIFE, even called that one.

  No way this game can be blamed on Favre. The mistake at the end of the 4th was obviously a killer, but his team fell apart around him all game. Too many fumbles, shitty blocking all night. I thought Favre and the defense played pretty well.
  
  Saints took advantage of some BS calls in OT and got the win, exciting game. Can't wait to see what happens in 2 weeks.

  A quarterback in his 19th season should know down, distance, time left, timeouts left, and situation.

  The only mistake I saw Favre make this entire game was not running the ball in the 4th to get Longwell into good position.

  Favre was fine this game. The fumbles is what really killed them. They were in the redzone twice with careless fumbles. Geezy..

  It's hard to imagine that these two teams were playing to go to the Super Bowl. It seemed to me that they were trying very hard to give the game away all night long. Fumbles, mishandled snaps, interceptions, incredibly stupid penalties (all deserved), poor play calling when the game was there for the taking, horrible third down efficiency, and on and on and on. For the record, I thought that the least offensive part of the game was the officiating. I thought that instant replay verified everything that was called, including the catch late in the game, which at first I thought they had missed, but to me the replay showed the ball up on the receiver's thigh and his hand clearly under the ball, keeping it from hitting the ground. Even if the catch hadn't been made, there were so many screw ups by the teams that I think to blame this one on officiating is a huge stretch. I think we just look forward to the Super Bowl and hope for a much better game. I don't think it's possible for it to be worse.

  Bad way for this classic to end. PI was iffy....and the ruled catch was horrible. Receiver did not secure the ball until it hit the ground.
  
  If the kicker nailed it the same way he did from 40, it would have been good from 50 though.

  NNN, most of the time I agree with you, no materr how controversial you may be. But this time, absolutely not. Noone in their their right mind passes on 3rd down with a timout left, seconds left on the clock and in kicking range.

  It would have been a 50-yard FG attempt. At the time that Favre pulled up to throw, the absolute worst situation that could have happened would be if he'd simply slid or taken a knee, called the timeout, and it would have been a 4th-down field goal of the same distance.
  
  Favre, as he has done his entire career, wanted to make a stupid play when he didn't need to, and that's why he's the only guy whose last career throw is an interception...twice.

  My thing is if people want to blame the refs for one PI call, they have to be willing to blame the QB who made the terrible throw in regulation, and they don't seem to be willing to do that.

  Also, this may shock some, but the ball is allowed to strike the ground and still be ruled a catch.
  
  The condition is this: if the receiver is ruled to have possession of the ball, it can hit the ground and nothing changes. If he's juggling it, it hits the ground, and he then acquires possession, it's incomplete.

  Better to rely on that, than to risk a turnover. At least you have a chance. If you make the kick, you win. If not, it's overtime. Seems like better odds to me.

  That was such a terrible comment that I'm already going to apologize for it.
  
  I'm incredibly pissed over this game's officiating and how dirty the Saints were playing at times. How were those high and low hits on Favre not penalties? And the tossed prayer that was never catchable? That should have been the play of the game for NO. Not the game-ending field goal.

  Taylors run put the Vikes on the 33(50 yd FG) with a 1st down and a minute and two timeouts left. Wisdom is to run it. Two runs for no gain, so you figure another run and take your chances with no longer than a 50 yd FG to win it. But then a fateful penalty of 5 yds for 12 men on the field, that Farve tried to negate to no avail by trying to call time out. That pushes it to a 55 yd FG on 4th down, if incomplete or no gain on 3rd down. So they decide to try to get some yardage to get a more probable FG attempt. Farve goes back to pass and the defense is back ten yds. The defense is quicker than Farve and he'll take a heck of a hit and probably still have about a 50 yd FG attempt, the same as they had on 1st down. With kickers proficiency in post season, he decided to risk an across the grain pass that if complete would have resulted in a less than 40 yd FG attemp, much more likely than a 50 yd attemp, so he goes for that and is disappointed. Not really that bad of strategy or decision, just didn't work out!

  A cooler head has prevailed now that this game is finally over, but, if I could have had a free wish about 20 minutes ago, it would have been to see Indy win 600 to 0 over the Saints, and to see NO fans completely embarrassed.
