NonI don't like that Ray Edwards got hurt for Minnesota.
He might be doubtful or maybe he'll play but will be hobbling.
I don't see their rush being as effective on the road. Saints offensive line has played well.
But the Minnesota offense has a lot of weapons and they probably can run it up the middle against New Orleans.
I say the Saints win like 34-24 -
pmoney25Saints have the advantage I think. Sunday at 6pm, looks like someone is missing church event next Sunday. I'm sure God will understand. It is the Saints afterall.
-
wghfanThe trend has been blow outs in these playoffs, so no reason this game will be any different.
-
sjmvsfscs08I'm thinking it's going to be a long day for Drew Brees.
-
justincredibleI'm taking the Saints.
-
Laley23I think the Saints will get it done. The lack of explosive runs from AP this year has been really startling. While it hasnt mattered with the emergence of the passing game, I think its gonna be a huge issue Sunday.
-
trackandccrunnerVikings will win this.. Setting up a Manning vs Farve Super Bowl.
-
j_crazyBoth teams looked great this weekend. I speak from experience that the Superdome changes for a big game and it's bad news for the visitors. I like the (Favre-less) Vikings more than the Saints, but I think the Saints have got back to what got them to 13-0, and they're healthy. I'll take the Saints with a late TD to win by 4.
-
Ironman92I think Drew Brees will be good/averge Brees.......whereas Saint defense and crowd noise will cause Farve to be below averge Farve...resuting in a 10 point Saint win.
Look how great teh COwboys were at home....and then on the road.....and then do the same with the Cardinals
It's hard to play on the road...in a dome...versus a very good team. -
NonThe Saints offensive line has been great all season. They should be able to hold their own since the game is at home so there won't be the crowd noise to help the Vikings pass rush. Ray Edwards getting hurt was also big so now the Saints can focus more on Allen and try to take away that side. Edwards status is uncertain but he still could be less than 100 percent if he plays.
Plus, the Sants mix things up offensively so much. Dallas started out looking like a team that could mix it up and have success against the Vikings but they missed some early opportunities and then Flozell getting hurt gave the Vikings a huge advantage. The Saints playing at home changes a lot and makes a lot of what the Vikings did last week irrelevant.
That being said, Favre is still playing well and they have a lot of weapons.
Slight edge to the Saints in a game that should go back and forth with offense. I think this will be the best television game of the playoffs with the chance for great drama.
The AFC Championship should be somewhat of a formality. Jets may play decent but the Colts are winning and moving on. This NFC Championship has some real doubt with Favre trying to get back to the Super Bowl and Brees leading the Saints and their fired up fans. -

yeah but the vikings play in a dome at home so it wont be much different minus the amount of fans they will haveIronman92 wrote: I think Drew Brees will be good/averge Brees.......whereas Saint defense and crowd noise will cause Farve to be below averge Farve...resuting in a 10 point Saint win.

Nonthe old domes seem to be loud like Minnesota, New Orleans
the newer ones like Indy and Dallas don't hold the sound as much
it will be loud in the Superdome for this game and could have an impact on the Vikings getting off on the snap -
chs_redskinsHopefully the saints dont complain about a Late touchdown because i have a feeling its comeing. oh yeah:idea: Wait Maybe they can advice from Brooking. LOL

UA5straightin2008the vikings are the most complete team in the NFL, they will win it all
-
Ironman92....many said the Cowboys were that last week
Saints 30
Vikings 17 -
UA5straightin2008the cowboys defense (and the saints defense for that matter) is nothing compared to the vikings defense
-
Ironman92THe Vikings defense is greatly propleed by their home dome noise.....greatly benefitting the d line. THe majority of their sacks this year have came at home.....the Saints defense will be better for their home dome noise which will be off the charts.
The Vikings have lost 3 of their last 4 on the road.
Saints 30

Strapping Young LadSaints should win, being at home and seeing how the Viks have struggled on the road this season. However, the Vikings beat Brees down there in 2008 by being very opportunistic on Defense. The only reason that game was close was because the punter kept kicking it to Bush, lol.
Both teams have gotten significantly better since that game, but that's a look at how the Vikings can pull this off. Ripping the ball out, making plays on tipped balls (Brees' height gives an opportunity for that), blcked FG return for TD, controlling the clock, and quieting the crowd.
In reality the Saints should win this one, but that's why they play the game. Eleven years ago ATL came to the Metrodome and stunned Moss and Carter's Vikings. If THAT can happen, then anything is possible, because that was an upset. -

Favre apparently addressed the team and recounted his experience of the 2007 NFC Championship game where NY came into Lambeau on a bitterly cold day and won on the road, when it seemed like there was no way someone would come into the frozen tundra and beat Favre in a cold weather game on the road with the SB on the line.Eleven years ago ATL came to the Metrodome and stunned Moss and Carter's Vikings. If THAT can happen, then anything is possible, because that was an upset.
The other thing I think will help, but certainly doesn't negate the crowd noise for the Vikings is they play in a dome themselves. They deal with the noise often, and even though it helps more to be the home team in those situations you can't discount how much it helps just being in the crazy raucous environment like that on a regular basis. -
Strapping Young LadFavre has talked about that Giants team a few times this season. When the Vikings were struggling he recalled how if someone had told him that Giants team that Favre's Packers obliterated early in the season would come back to GB in the cold, win, and go on to do what they did, he'd have said you were nuts.
We've seen a few teams lately that "shouldn't have" been in the Super Bowl. When the Cards were getting embarrassed down the strecth last year, who in the world thought they could go into Carolina (let alone beat ATL and PHI at home) and win on the road, then take the almighty Steelers to the wire.
The Vikings are alot like those Cardinals in alot of ways..... -

Yeah, ever since that first half disaster against the Bears in Favre's last 10 quarters of football he has thrown for over 840yds, 10 TD's, no Int's, and has a QB rating over 125.We've seen a few teams lately that "shouldn't have" been in the Super Bowl. I am not sure if he an keep up that kind of pace, but I think once he won the power struggle with Brad Childress it has really helped the offense get back to the way they were the first 10 games instead of when they went uber conservative because of Childress. The players were thoroughly on Favre's side, so hopefully that was seen as a rallying moment instead of when things would fall apart. -
