2010 Australian Open

NonFederer won at Roland Garros last year. Nadal banged up at least for now.
Could this be a 4 for 4 year? -
NonAlways enjoy the comments from the players after the championship match.
Tennis players seem to generally speak sincerely in the post-match interviews and when they're at the podium, and it adds to the event.
For some reason in sports like the NFL, MLB and NBA, it's often the same thing.
"Words can't describe it"
"I'm speechless"
"This team never gave up even when nobody gave us a chance" (even though many gave them a chance)
"We have the best fans in the world. This is for you (team nickname) nation." -
Hulk SmashNo surprise in the final. With Nadal injured and clearly going downhill I wouldn't be surprised to see Federer win the slam this year.
We've been hearing for a couple years now about how good Murray is going to be..........................................I'm still waiting.
He is the Henman of this generation.
A couple years is a relatively short time but in this sport if the success doesn't come early it pretty much never does(save Agassi).
Roger is the first player to collect a slam title this decade.
15 men won majors last decade
16 in the 90's
12 men won the 39 majors in the 80's
16 men won the 41 majors in the 70's
Before the Open era(1968)the current majors were not the pro majors. -
Laley23Andy Murray is already a very good player...what are you talking about?
He has played in 2 finals already in his career. Thats like when people try and tell me Andy Roddick isnt good... Yeah, ok!?!?
He hasnt gotten over the hump in the finals yet, but I would bet he gets multiple before hes done. -
Hulk SmashI'll bet he doesn't.
Nobody says Roddick isn't good.
So what if he is a good player, there are a lot of good players, there always has been a lot of good players out there.
Those that say he is a great player are delusional though. -
LeonardoI also would not be suprised to see Federer win the calendar slam this year. He was just two sets away from it last year. Federer has beaten Nadal on clay before so it's not like he can't do it in Paris. Nadal could be healthy by then, as it's four months from now.
Murray is a GOOD player for now. He could win some slams but Federer has said before it's not going to happen on his watch (I'm guessing Federer doesn't want anyone but himself to win Slams on his watch, lol). -
NonI like what I saw from Roddick. I think the shoulder injury did cost him in that match against Cilic, which he lost in five sets. He's improved over the past year from the Wimbledon performance and so on. I've never been all that big on him but I could see him winning that second major this year at either Wimbledon or the U.S. Open.

sportswizuhrdThese Slams are too spaced out. At least the Aussie Open and the French Open. January and then not until May? Move the Aussie open to later and give the players some time off.

It is when it is because too much later and it will be too cold. Dont forget it is summer there during this tourney.sportswizuhrd wrote: These Slams are too spaced out. Hulk SmashThe Aussie has moved too much already.
In 1986 they didn't even bother having one.
In 1977 the Aussie was played twice.
For a long time in the Open era the Aussie did not carry the prestige of the other three majors, top players frequently(including the reigning #1 many times) skipped it up until the late 90's.
Don't mess with it now that all of the players(and fans) are finally treating it like the rest of the majors.
