Yet, we would have made the play offs without him.....yes?TBone14;1880851 wrote:Whatever we ended up paying him was totally worth it. He delivered.

He wants his pay off and yes he delivered. But in the end we come up empty handed.
I hate this jockeying around every fucking year. -

I'd move on. Not just because I can't stand it when he comes in but because he's going to be bringing diminishing returns soon. Hasn't he lead the league in appearances 2 out of the last 3 years or something? To compare this to football, it's like the Patriots when they know a guy is close to hitting the wall. Let him walk before he becomes your (expensive) problem.cat_lover;1880625 wrote:Yes, and the Tribe are still interested in Shaw but not at that price.
Also agree with those on the Brantley comments. I would've let him walk too. -

Yes we make the playoffs without him but we don't win 22 in a row without him. He certainly wasn't the reason we lost in the playoffs and would have been one of the reasons we advanced had we moved on. He was always going to be a rental for the most part and he has no reason to take a discount to stay with us. Would love to have him.BRF;1880860 wrote:Yet, we would have made the play offs without him.....yes?

Bryan Shaw has appeared in at least 70 games every year since 2013. 80 in 2014 and 79 last year plus additional innings in the playoffs the last two years. I guess it all depends on what he wants. If he is expecting a 4 year deal, I could let him go. If he wants two years, I would say keep him. Guys like him, despite what you think of him, don't just grow on trees. He is 30 so he should have some good years left in him.BR1986FB;1880873 wrote:I'd move on. In regards to Brantley, I don't understand why you would let him walk? That money is one year money and isn't going to help that much in the grand scheme to sign somebody to a huge, long term deal. Pick up the option and hope he is healthy. When he is healthy, he is still great, as evidenced by his 1st half and All Star appearance last season.
There is nobody as good as healthy Michael Brantley who can be had for 12M for a season. Total bargain. -
Verbal KintShaw projected at 3/21M
Brantley is expected healthy, when? -
TBone14
April or May. I will agree, it is hard to count on him but 12M is not much (you are talking about Shaw getting 7M/year FFS) for the opportunity to have an All Star. That money is a drop in the bucket...it's not like not picking up his option would help contribute to the 90 it will take to get Bruce. So you might as well use the option and hope you get the All Star player we know he is capable of being.Verbal Kint;1880921 wrote:Shaw projected at 3/21M

Verbal KintIf Bruce gets more than 4/52M, it will be because Wilpon lost his mind
Sizemore, Hafner, make me more than leary about this gamble, he might be chronic with the injuries -

Not saying it is right or wrong but Bruce is expecting to get paid.Verbal Kint;1880970 wrote:If Bruce gets more than 4/52M, it will be because Wilpon lost his mind

Verbal KintBob Lemon was "Pitcher of the year" three times.
Feller probably would have won it for the 3 years prior and 2 years after WW2 if such an award existed. -

HitsRusIn A little bit of a head scratcher, in order to protect four prospects from the upcoming rule five draft, The Tribe has DFA’d Kyle Crockett. The four prospects moved to The 40 man roster are infielders Willi Castro, ... Yu-Cheng Chang, and Eric Stamets... and right-handed pitcher Julian Merryweather.
