Tribe Offseason Thread

Disappointing playoffs. What do you expect or want to be done to the roster?
  • Commander of Awesome
    Too soon.

#1, I'd like Tito to fucking pitch Salazr in the playoffs. It's not hard, he's our 2nd to 3rd best pitcher. Also Klubot to go in repairs, and EE to not get hurt.
  • BRF
Keep the same team and hope we are hot in October.
  • GOONx19
I’d like them to come up with an infield scheme that doesn’t involve Urshela as more than a rest-day player.
  • vball10set
I expect to win, especially the pathetic AL Central. I expect to beat Boston (who will win the wild card) in the ALDS, and then the Yankees in the ALCS. I expect to win the World Series in 6 over the Nationals.

edit: oh yeah, and I'd like to get this guy-lol
Jake Arrieta, eligible for free agency after the season, pitches for the Cubs in what could be his final start with the team.

This thread needed a couple weeks before being launched.

They are set up well to win the division again. As I have always said, it's all a crap shoot in the playoffs. This season the Yankees were not better than the Tribe. Next year they might very well be better and end up losing to the Tribe in the playoffs. This is why baseball is frustrating.

It's not too early for the thread. Like a band-aide, just rip it off.

If we are wishing upon stars, I'd like to add JD Martinez to the list.

    indeed

I expect Kipnis, Chisenhall, and/or Brantley to be traded in the off season....at least one of them. I would not be surprised to see Salazar flipped as well.
  • BR1986FB
I expect them to return to the playoffs but I think the Twins will be a bit more formidable next year. Once they hit the playoffs, after this year, my expectations will be much more tempered. Until I see them successful in the postseason again, I'm not buying in.

Lose: Santana, Bruce, Brantley, Jackson, Shaw, Logan...and Mickey Callaway becomes a MLB manager
Need: 1B, LF, 7th inning RHP.

Up to Santana if he takes a home team discount or test FA.
I am guessing that they could go after Morrison, Alonzo for $13m-15m per if that falls thru.
Start the year with Allen in LF, then deadline deal again for a power hitter there.

    CF Zimmer
    SS Lindor
    3B/2B J Ram
    DH EE
    1B ? -2 years from Bradley
    LF
    2B/OF Kipnis
    RF Chiz/Guyer
    C Gomes/Perez- 2 years from Mejia
  • iclfan2
I hope they keep Kipnis. Put him back at 2nd and Jram at 3rd. Santana /Bruce/ Brantley (can you trust him?) will be interesting. And as much as I have talked shit about Shaw, once he leaves we may be in for a rude awakening with someone else eating those innings.
  • HitsRus
With the surge in attendance and advance ticket sales, don’t be surprised to see the Tribe make a run at Bruce or Santana..., especially if Kip or Brantley are traded off the books.
  • Laley23
I expect Tribe to resign Bruce or Santana. Love Bruce's raw power, but prefer Santana. Much better overall hitter/player.
  • Verbal Kint
Kipnis is under contract the next two years for $13.6M & $14.6M, his buyout is not until 2020.
Brantley has a club option of $11M with $1M buyout, so that saves a net $10.

MB underwent surgery yesterday to stabilize ligaments in his ankle. He will resume "baseball activities" in 4-5 months.

Any setbacks and he will be unlikely to be ready for Spring Training/Opening Day.

Doubtful we find many takers on the trade market for him.

Love Brantley, but after his latest (third) setback, he's too fragile to be considered a viable option...too bad.
  • cat_lover
Sign Santana and Bruce. Maybe trade Kipnis (I'm on the fence on this). Decline option on Brantley (Again on the fence)I get the feeling that he is shot.

    Yeah...just saw that.

The team has an $11 M option to consider. Do you pick it up?
  • Laley23
No. Spend that $10M elsewhere and get deeper.

Or use that plus the $6M saved ($7M contract minus $1M buyout) from Logan to resign Bruce, Santana, and Shaw (you will miss him when he is gone and you have Otero in the 7th)

Well that will only get them Bruce or Santana. And I know we will miss Shaw. I feel I was his only defender lol. That said, I do feel Otero has been under-utilized and could be a very good 7th inning man. Same with Goody...or Olsen (but might keep him in the lefty role another season).

Agreed, as I like Otero a lot--I know he got caught in a numbers game, but would've loved to have him in the ALDS

A lot of people second guessing Tito for putting MB on the postseason roster, and playing him, after only having a week to prepare and now we find out this.
