I didn’t see a lot of talk about what might have been the turning point in the game ... Chisenhall’s HBP.
When you’re at the game, you do miss the replays and the analysis .
Today, The national media is ripping Joe Gerardi for multiple mistakes and mismanagement.... One of which was the non-challenge of the hit by pitch of Chisenhall which resulted in the bases-loaded and bringing Lindor to the plate .
The other major faux pas, was lifting C.C. Sabathia in an apparent “pre-scripted” move. Thirdly, not bringing in Chapman to face Bruce in the 8th. In any case Girardi is getting roasted by the NY media.
As he should. Watch his explanation for not challenging the HBP. I would be livid as a yankees fan. He let his guard down. Figured with two outs and up 5, what was the worst that could happen? Well, he found out.

    Also, trouble in paradise?

Although that HBP is a very close call. I am not 100% sure the replay would have gotten it overturned.

Right, even in super slow mo hard to say it didn't nick him at all. Did you see Chiz after the game? They kept asking him if he got hit and he said he wasn't the ump and to stop asking him

Besides that, how about that ugly mug on Gerardi?

Wasn't it some moronic, "I could have, but didn't want to mess with my pitcher's flow." sort of reasoning? Which gets really funny considering that pitcher immediately gave up a grand slam.

I have 1 question. And not that I wanted to see him in the game or anything like that. But why is Salazar in the roster over Otero if he can't get in the game last night? Tomlin was great, didn't hate the move at all, just wondering what has to happen for Salazar to get in? Seems like a wasted roster spot if you go to the game 4 starter before him...and I assume Otero gets in earlier than that.

Anyway, not a rant and I didn't disagree with any moves. Just an observation...

Unless the plan is to pitch Salazar game 4 instead of tomlin? I definitely agree with you though if that's not the case

I want the best teams playing the best ball. Tribe and Astros are clearly the best two. Tribe has pitching advantage. I would selfishly root for a game 7 that went punch for punch with Frankie or JRam throwing the knockout punch in bottom of 9.

I apologize for wanting something that would cause heart attacks on here though. I enjoy these two teams more than any of the other 6 remaining.

    NL is a total crapshoot

    Yeah...expected to see Salazar myself.
    In Tito we trust.

Thinking about it in hindsight, it's quite possible that Tito trusted a consistent performance for JT more than Danny.
Tomlin is a polished pitcher, maybe not with as good stuff, but with the mental toughness necessary to compete. Salazar has shown a tendency to 'lose it' when things get tough. I think that in the pressure of the situation, Tito wanted that toughness. I know as a coach myself, I've gone with "mental toughness" over "stuff" in big game situations.

My feeling if game 4 exist it will be the following:

    Tomlin for 9 batters
    Salazar for 9 batters
    Bauer for 9 batters
    Miller/Allen if leading,

I appreciate the Tito apologist, but for fucks sake Salazar has ACE stuff. He should be a starter.

^^^^say what you want COA... fact is.... Josh Tomlin pitched two scoreless innings...17 pitches, 6 outs.

Salazar is not there yet. When he is, he will be amazing.
It's the playoffs. when the pressures on, I want the mentally tough guy.

We’re going to need J-Ram if we’re going anywhere this post season, and so far he’s been non existent...hope he gets going soon!

He's a top 5 "clutch" player...he'll deliver as this gets bigger

At same time defense is incredibly shifted on Bruce and he tries to pull two straight pitches 3 inches off outside corner

Both pitchers look sharp tonight. Gonna be a battle for runs.

I know it's classic but the way Judge wears the Yankee pinstripes...they look like pajamas on him.
