kizer permanenteTook for granted how good Phil was.

BRFWhat a ball game!
Go Browns. -
justincredibleSuch an ugly first half. I won't be watching the second half.
-
MulvaKizer apparently benched?
-
wildcats20What a catch.
-
iclfan2Kizer benched is so dumb. He looked terrible but how else is a rookie gonna grow. Hue's dumbass playcalls don't help.
Nice catch, Njoku

kizer permanenteSo my guess is we'll play musical chairs with the qb's the rest of the year. Draft one in the draft and he'll start next year.

Commander of AwesomeHogan > Kizer at this stage in the game. Neither are good.

Yeah you're not wrong. Kizer has been really bad. Hogan is marginally better which isnt saying much. He's not our future. Kizer hasnt shown he has the ability either. Arm and size are great but it doesn't mean much when you can't process on time and your accuracy is horrible.Commander of Awesome;1875886 wrote:Hogan > Kizer at this stage in the game. BRFCongrats to Josh McCown for that first win at First Energy.

iclfan2What a terrible game. Outplayed them but beat ourselves. Kizer sucked, Hue sucked, Duke should be the starting rb, Gonzalez should be cut

BR1986FBFrom what I can see, the whole plan with Kizer was "throw shit against the wall and hope he sticks." They planned on throwing him out there, with limited offensive weapons, and hoped they'd find lightning in a bottle. Otherwise, use your high pick in 2018 on your future starter. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I've pulled for Kizer from the get go but there's nothing I see that makes me believe he can be their long term QB. Takes drive crushing sacks, makes poor decisions and is just inaccurate. The last part is the part that can't won't be fixed. He's the kind of QB (all the physical tools, crappy accuracy) that makes coaches lose their job.
Agree on the comments the Browns outplayed them and that Gonzalez should be cut. As soon as he missed that 39 yarder I said "cut him NOW."
This team won't win a game unless he commits to Hogan, going forward.
On a side note, it warms my black soul to see TheRapist implode, at home, against the Jags. -
SportsAndLadyWasn't able to watch this game since I was driving back to Chicago...glad that was the case.

BoatShoesI agree that Mixer has made terrible mistakes but jeez have the Browns had a worse receiving corps? Are all these cutesy plays in the red zone ( e.g. option, gimmicky roll outs) really puttimg the guy in positions for success???
I don't know. Game was unwatchable but honestly feel more hope for Kizer than I ever had for Quinn, Manziel, MCoy, Weeden...etc. -

I get the receiving corp sucks. But how the hell can you possibly have any hope for Kizer after what we've seen? I get he's a rookie and isn't going to look amazing all season, but what do you see in him that you like?!BoatShoes;1875915 wrote:I don't know. In particular, I think he has made a lot of good throws on 3rd downs that have either been first downs or would have been first downs if the receivers could catch.SportsAndLady;1875918 wrote:I get the receiving corp sucks. The sort of throws that guys like Weeden and Quinn would never even attempt and would just dump it off.
That makes me want to see him for the rest of the year.
FWIW I still want Jake Browning who I think has throws the best ball in CFB. -
vball10setHue Jackson is in over his head, and anyone who thinks drafting another fucking QB is the answer is out of theirs.
-
BRFCongrats also to the Browns for getting their first lead in a game this season.

Don't get fooled by what you see with Kizer. Yes, he does some "wow" things but they will never correct the fact that he misses a lot of receivers BADLY with his throws. Holding on to the ball too long, you can fix. Making bad decisions, you can learn from and fix. Not being able to hit the broad side of a barn, in certain situations, you CAN'T fix.BoatShoes;1875920 wrote:In particular, I think he has made a lot of good throws on 3rd downs that have either been first downs or would have been first downs if the receivers could catch.

Whenever the Browns get in the red zone, I'm expecting him to turn the ball over in some foolish way and he did it twice (bad pitch to Crowell and the interception), again today.
Even if they upgrade the receiving corps, I don't know how much improvement we'll see from him. Granted, I did say he does have some things that are fixable, but he missed a WIDE open TD to Njoku that most QB's, even rookies, would've seen. At this stage, he should be able to scan the field enough to see the TE is standing alone in the end zone. -

I was also on the road and I listened on the radio. Can't imagine it being less painful to the eyes as it was to my ears.SportsAndLady;1875911 wrote:Wasn't able to watch this game since I was driving back to Chicago...glad that was the case. -

Typically not a good idea to compare QB’s effectiveness to former failed QB’s like Quinn and Weeden.BoatShoes;1875920 wrote:In particular, I think he has made a lot of good throws on 3rd downs that have either been first downs or would have been first downs if the receivers could catch.
