Didn't stay awake to watch. Saw some good things out of Allen. He's gonna make the center field decision hard (unless Kipnis never gets a hit). Ajax also making his case for starting left fielder in the playoffs if Chiz doesn't come back. Good outing by Clev, not so much by Shaw and Allen. Last year we were worried about starters and knew the pen would kill it, this year I'm confident in the starters and a healthy Miller, but not Shaw or Allen. Gonna be interesting.

Salazar getting the start Thursday to see where he's at I guess.

This team is scary good (and deep) right now. Other than Shaw, I don't really see many holes to be concerned about. I know it's baseball, and anything can happen, but I'm hard pressed to find a team that I think can beat the Tribe four games in a series, especially if they gain overall home field.

I get it. I'm not superstitious. I'm not saying they are a "lock" to win it or guaranteeing anything but, on paper, this steam is scary.

    Just do it!!

I agree though, I am just wary. The playoffs are a crap shoot, especially the first series since it only takes 3 wins.

Agree on the first round. Only takes a bad outing, or two, by your starters and you're done.

That's why I'm hoping we have the 1 seed so the Wildcard team has to waste their #1 starter. I don't see any team I want to face in this playoffs.

I'm more worried about Allen than Shaw, since he's considered our lockdown closer. His record looks impressive, but as any of us know who watch practically every game, he's been teetering on the brink of disaster more often than not.

If the Twins burn Santana in the wildcard game, no one else from the Twins or Angels should be a problem to face. Angels bullpen is very good though.

Won't one of those teams play the Yankees in the play in game? More likely the Tribe would face NY than those two.

    My bad, forgot about NYY

Most likely Santana vs Servino in the WCG then.

Allen looked fine last night. He was up 4 runs, so was just firing fastballs.

Not just last night, Laley, he's been struggling with his curve/slider, which lends itself to hitters sitting on his fastball. We need Allen if we're going to win this thing, and that's a fact. It's just that he hasn't been as lockdown as he has in the past, and that's what we'll have to have.
  • Verbal Kint
Statically speaking, besides Kimbrell and Jansen, no closer has appreciable better stats than Allen.

Certain people have been saying this all damn year. It's just not true. He is as good as he has always been. He was LIGHT OUT last postseason, so maybe you all have horrible memories. But his stats are right in line from his dominant self the last 5 years. Some years better in certain categories and some years worse...all in all, negligible difference for almost 5 years across the board.

Kip gets a hit! And a double at that. Nice to see. Should be able to hit this guy, even though they made him look unstoppable in inning 1. Good 1st from Tomlin

Hadn't heard that name in a long time. So I did some research.

Tidbit to share just for fun:

"On November 28, 1972, the Dodgers traded Singer, Billy Grabarkewitz, Frank Robinson, Mike Strahler, and Bobby Valentine to the California Angels for Ken McMullen and Andy Messersmith."

    Go Tribe.
