2017 MLB Chatter

Eck has been VERY open discussing Sox players throughout the years. They hate it, but he doesn't hold back just because its the home broadcast. I have little doubt this was brewing over for a long time and finally someone snapped.

Then all the players clapped and cheered for Price.

I can see all sides of it. If I'm a player and feel he is dogging me....I'm gonna ask him about it but not in a confronting manner. If I can't agree with him or it gets more often or worse...he ain't getting crap out of me. Price had chance to take the high road and make Eck look like a bitter old retired player.

Watching every Reds game Thom and Chris can really push the average fan on who is great and who to root for. Chris will get all over a young player but there isn't a thing an older player can do to get that same lash.

I will go to my grave believing Brandon Phillips paid ample money to Thom Brennaman and Welsh to over play his positives and ignore anything negative.

I understand but for me I want announcers to announce and analyze the game with some fun added when possible...but don't try to tell me how great a player is and act as if no other player at that position is close.

Couldn't David Price just wear a Dodgers Kirk Gibson retro jersey? Lol

That sucks for baseball. Gonna cost him another Cy

    It's Scherzer's to lose.

    Adrian Beltre 4-4 tonight....just 7 hits short of 3,000

Also over 600 doubles, 450 HR, 1600 RBI

    First ballot? Perhaps.

Should be. Some will yap about lack of all-star games but comparing to others at 3rd base position he should be a lock. 5 gold gloves won't hurt.

Beltre should be first ballot. How many years does he have left? Outside shot at 500?

He's kinda ageless still. I could see him getting 250 more starts in his career. I'll be surprised if he gets to 500 though.

Bryce Harper is such a whiny bitch. Can't stand him.

Beltre is awesome. That umpire was a dick.

Everyone stands off the on deck circle....gonna pick on a legend 4 hits short of 3,000 in an 18-8 game in the 8th inning

After he was ejected the Nats scored 23 runs over the next 6 innings. He went 3/5 2 HR and 4 RBI today.

He is fiery for sure and he went too hard at the called up ump....he can't get ejected there in a tie game.

I've definitely noticed a trend of when an ump gets called up the players give em hell to the point I almost feel the league is telling them to see if this ump has what it takes. Sounds ridiculous but every new ump gets hammered it seems.

I dislike that he acts like he's better than everyone else. (Even though he pretty much is)

In light of Beltre's 3000th, if they were to retire today, what active players would be first ballot HOF'rs? Obviously Beltre, and I'll say Pujols and Ichiro as well...thoughts?

Agree. If Kershaw pulled a Koufax, he might be first ballot. Cano & Miggy needs three more consistent years to be first ballot.

I think 2 more would give them both ample numbers for first ballot

While the Pirates' season is going nowhere, it is good to have days like today where McCutchen dials into god mode and reminds people he's better than they'll ever be.

First Ballot is hard, because voters are so damn fickle. But I'll say:

    Pujols
    Ichiro
    Beltre
    Miggy
    Kershaw

Being fickle....Cabrera might need some more numbers than what he has. But let me clarify that Miguel Cabrera is 100% a HOF. You either are or aren't in my book. Everyone worthy is first ballot to me.

Might be right. But a top 5 RH hitter ever should be 1st ballot. Top 5 in MVP 7 times. Led league in hitting 3(???) times, to compliment his great power. He isn't Pujols, but he is close and the next best the last 25 years, imo.
