  17 year old Sydney McLaughlin (USA) makes the semis in the 400M hurdles. She'll be a senior in high school this Fall.

  Murphy could be in gold contention in Tokyo. Great race. I wonder what would have happened if he would have stayed closer to Rudeshia at the 500-600m mark instead of letting him get several strides ahead.

  the other Kenyan was running rabbit for Rudisha and tried to pull other runners out and burn them up. nobody took the bait. At the end he didnt need help but Clayton ran smart and has a unreal finish.
  
  He ran the 1500 all college season and was a great CC runners in HS. He has crazy endurance to go with 45 400 speed. Perfect mix.

  Here are my thoughts on Ledecky in the 800. She was beyond incredible, destroyed the field and beat the world record by 2 seconds. I will argue that Hosszu in the 400m individual medley was just as impressive. Her race was only half as long and she beat it by 2 seconds also and beat Dirado by almost 5 seconds.
  
  Here is something else many of you wont agree with but it's how I look at it. The talent pool. From early elementary age and on the very fastest kids are known by all and a large portion go on to run track as they develop in different ways they are placed into the events they can excel at the best. Often those athletes play football and sometimes baseball/basketball but a large large portion of those elite speed kids get into track. I don't feel very many great athletes ever race in swimming in any type of competitive way. Is there an athlete on this planet that if they committed to the 100m that could beat Bolt? I don't think so, maybe there is and maybe there isn't. Do I believe if you take all the professional women's basketball, volleyball, soccer and track athletes....go back to their younger years and put them into competitive swimming could they do what Ledecky does....I believe they could. Just my opinion.
  
  She was the most dominant female swimmer and her 800 I'll probably never forget....but I was just as impressed Hosszu beat the record in 1/2 the distance by as much as she did.
  
  I'm sticking with Van Niekerk beating Michael Johnson's 400m record. Bolt and Blake and other 100m stars we shocked when they saw what he did in that 400m.

  I figured he was either rabbit or running a really dumb strategy. Rudeshia doesn't need a rabbit anyways and he proved it by basically running second but ahead of everyone else the entire time.

  If Murphy would have tried staying with Rudeshia at the 500-600m mark, Clayton would have ended up closer to Kipketer. Murphy is good but he's not Kip' good......yet.

  If that was a rule, she tripped and didn't dive. Many runners collapse right at or immediately after crossing the finish line.
