2016 NBA Draft/Offseason

Laley23The way I loo at it is if LeBron is still an elite defender (I would say yes), all this means is he has to guard Durant and not whoever GSW threw out last year. Curry is still going to be guarded by Irving and Klay by JR. GSW will be a very good team, but at the end of the day, are they going to be any better offensively than this years team? At some point water finds its level, Durant getting 25 a game means the bench gets a lot less, klay and curry lose 4ppg, etc. Cavs execute on offense, you could see the same type of thing play out...where GSW try rimshot their way to a title instead of take the easy layups etc.

He could have snapped his neck in his last game of his third year.Sonofanump;1802309 wrote:So he was going to quit after that third year of the 3 year contract?
I'd rather have 4 years $94M than 3 years $64M. -

And more likely since he's not playing with DraymondSportsAndLady;1802313 wrote:He could have snapped his neck in his last game of his third year.

like_thatLebrons move was a complete douche move, but if you set the theatrics aside, I think KD takes the cake (it's close though). When Lebron colluded with his best buddy at least the heat sucked ass and Lebron went to Miami as the Alpha male. As soon as he left them, they went back to being the same middle tier team in the east that they were before Lebron got there.
KD in comparison is going to a team where he choked away a 3-1 series. A team that won 73 games and was 4 points away from back to back titles. If KD didn't go or he left after a year then GSW still would be fine. Not to mention he is going to a team with the media darling unanimous back to back MVP. It's ESPN, so I don't expect them to be as dramatic as they were with Cleveland (thunder fans already burning jerseys, let's see if ESPN continues to talk about this for 5+ years), but this has to go down as the biggest bitch beta move in NBA and maybe sports history.
I'm not surprised our two resident dumb fucks have reappeared from the dead in the NBA after this move. Ccrunner (Spock) disappeared after he was exposed once again for being clueless and proving he hasn't watched the NBA since 1987, and of course classy reappears after talking all that shit (even though the Pistons were swept by them) during the finals only to see the cavs win the title and then the Tigers fall to 0-9 in the season vs Cleveland. They both have the "beta bitch" title in common with KD. Congrats.
Edit: Also, does anybody find it hilarious that ccrunner faps to MJ, yet he thinks KD's move isn't as bad as lebrons? Tell us about that time MJ signed with the Pistons, because he couldn't beat them. Lolfail -

LeBron and Kevin (among many others) disagree with you. They also could snap their necks...SportsAndLady;1802313 wrote:He could have snapped his neck in his last game of his third year.

could have...?
Yes, but the difference is not as much as it looks since the fourth year of playing contract is unknown. -

Was really hoping the Cavs took a look at him for one of the exceptions.wildcats20;1802320 wrote:Zaza has signed with GS.
Zaza - 8.6 and 9.4 in 26.4 mins
Tristan - 7.8 and 9.0 in 27.7
Would have been a nice back-up 5. -
friendfromlowryI'm reading an ESPN article on Durant comparing his decision to leave with Lebron and Karl Malone. Lebron left in 2010 and it was for the better because of the titles and MVPs, etc. Malone spent 18 seasons in Utah and didn't leave until it was too late. He'll go down as one of the greats, but never enter the discussion of the greatest because he didn't win a title.
Here's what author Tom Haberstroh mentions re: Malone, not winning a title, and how it's affecting him amongst the greats:
Holy fuck! Not ESPN's top 20 rankings! I can't imagine that Malone or anyone else gives a shit. How much did not winning a championship cost Malone in the public domain? Consider that in ESPN's all-time rankings from earlier this year, Malone ranked 16th -- 13 spots lower than his win-shares rank of third. In fact, the 13-spot decline is the largest in ESPN.com's top 20 outside of, you guessed it, Stockton, who dropped 14 spots from fifth in win shares to 19th in #NBARank. I don't think it's any coincidence why those two names lag the most: They didn't win a title. -

Is the win/share stat a longevity type stat in any way?friendfromlowry;1802323 wrote:I'm reading an ESPN article on Durant comparing his decision to leave with Lebron and Karl Malone. That's all that is said about it. The "he" is Malone, btw.If you like advanced measures, he ranks third all time in career win shares (WS) behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain, according to Basketball-Reference.com. -

Yes. The more minutes/years you play the higher your totals will be. There's a win shares/48 minutes stat that normalizes it.Ironman92;1802324 wrote:Is the win/share stat a longevity type stat in any way? -

ironman02Pretty sure Barnes' extension with Golden State was for 4 years and $64M. He's now getting 4 years and $94M from Dallas.
The difference is $30M.

More with Stockton. Malone numbers would suggest top PF ever, at very least in discussion.Ironman92;1802328 wrote:Thanks...assumed it was with Malone and Stockton's insane longevity -

Well Stockton is 3rd and Malone 4th in career games played. Stockton is 14th all-time in WS48 and Malone 18thLaley23;1802334 wrote:More with Stockton. Malone numbers would suggest top PF ever, at very least in discussion. -

Right, but I would have no problem with someone saying Malone is the best PF ever to play. I'd laugh at them for saying that about Stockton at PG.Ironman92;1802336 wrote:Well Stockton is 3rd and Malone 4th in career games played. Stockton is 14th all-time in WS48 and Malone 18th -
Ironman92Career VORP? How is Brand above virtually everyone listed below him on this list?

??? Lakers were better. Magic better than Bird, Worthy better than McHale, Parrish even with Jabbar, Scott better than Johnson, Cooper and Ainge is a wash, Rambis, Thompson & Green were better than anything of the Celtics bench. -

Bench was the difference. Magic outplayed Bird that series 28-19-8, but not the season. I loved James Worthy but he wasn't as productive as McHale that year. It is awesome that Kareem was 39 years old and went 17 and 7 playing 79 games.Sonofanump;1802340 wrote:??? Lakers were better. I would be good if Cavs/Warriors turned into Celtics/Lakers....off to a damn good start. Unfortunately the Celtics just picked up Dominique. -
