Week 6: Browns vs. Broncos

Would it really surprise anyone that, when that time comes, Pettine rolls with Austin Davis over Manziel?

Depends how bad Johnny is with meetings, practice, etc.

Yeah I'm sure Johynny and his 99.5 q back rating have the Browns brass drooling about cutting bait with him.

Yeah, the Browns deactivated Davis for today's game and had Johnny carry the clip board.

He had a good game that week, but he is back to drinking again, so it is hard to count on him.

Today's game was exciting for thecasual observer but yet another clusterfuck for the Browns fans. The team has the same problens week after week that never seems to be corrected. Dansby had a good day picking off passes but he is the worst middle l b in football in plugging the run. The run defense is an abomination and in spite of O'Neal's claims, they are no where near being "close" in getting the problem fixed. It was a sad state for pro football in watching Peyton struggle. He has nothing left on his fastball. To his defense, the Browns were the recipients of 2 gifts from D Thomas, who dropped a couple of passes.

McCown engineered 2 impressive drives for scores and should be commendedfor those. Throughout the rest of the gamehe was just horrible...thgus his putrid rating for the day.

I had no problem with Pettine going for 2 in the 4th quarter...but the percentages say that he should have kicked the point. Only an idiot....and there were plenty of those calling in the post game show, think the Browns would have won by a point had they kicked the PAT. Ummm....no they would not have. I have a problem with not making it on 2 attempts more so than the choice to go for it.

You are once again wrong with numbers. The chart says to go for two there.

Who's chart? Yours? Just like Shemp, you try to make shit up. Here's the skinny... It comes down to conversion percentages on 2 point tries Bunghole. In the NFL, connversion rates on 2 pointers are less than 50%. It's that simple. Force the Broncos to convert on a 2 pointer...don't buck the odds by going for 2. If the Bronws go up 5. then the Broncos MUST go for 2...a losing proposition at 47%. And to think that you are in the banking industry. What a sorry, sorry state of affairs.

First of all, I sell women's shoes, mostly to fat women. Mrs. Footwedge is a frequent customer. Secondly, you completely forgot to factor in the odds of them kicking two field goals. Thirdly, the conversion chart can easily be found by doing a search. It has been around for decades.

So you got canned as an LO and now you peddle shoes. LOL. Your 2 field goal argument simply does not apply with so little time left. As I type I am watching the channel 3 Browns recap show and these assclowns are STILL saying the Browns win 24-23 if Pettine goes for 1. These people are too dumb to be on TV.
  • Footwedge
More on the 2 pointer...good Gawd McCown, Benjamin was wide open and you threw a dirtball that would have made Brian Horror proud. Browns win with johnny and it wouldn't have been very close. Pettine is going to get shit canned if he continues to lose with Mccown out there.

I've always sold women's shoes. Denver had enough time to score twice. In fact, they came very close to scoring twice.

    Man footwedge is retarded.

And I'm sorry but mccown is not the reason we lost. Coaching is. Not too mention our run defense is atrocious. There is no controversy. Mccown, manziel, Davis it doesn't matter who is back there if the entire team and coaches can't come together and actually succeed.

Agree that McCown wasn't the reason they lost but he didn't play well. Also agree there is no "controversy." The "Browns win by 17 with Manziel in there" comment is sheer buffoonery.

The thing I like about Pettine is that he gets this team to play hard. The thing I don't like is that when the moment is "big", he shrivels up and chokes with his decisions.

Frankly, this team has surprised me with how well they've played. As fans, we all hate the "heartbreak" that is associated with Cleveland Browns football. Unfortunately, with this "talent" and the boneheaded end of game playcalling, I think we'll be seeing more of this heartbreak in the upcoming schedule. Just good enough to compete/hang in there, not good enough to actually close and win the game.

As a side note, which may have been previously mentioned, all of the vitriol about Farmer's signings has been pointed at Dwayne Bowe. What about Brian Hartline? Is he even on the team anymore? Dude has contributed nothing.

Hartline is on the team. I know this because the announcers said yesterday, "the sure handed Brian hartline...dropped that one."

    Lol

Seems like the only receiving weapons we hear about are Benjamin & Barnidge. Once in a while we'll hear Hawkins or Gabriel's name but Hartline is a friggin' ghost.

The same can be said of McCown who plays well all game, only to give it away at the end.

Yep. Once the Browns had that ball before the second interception that he threw, I told my girlfriend "about time for 'Bad Josh' to show up and commit a turnover" and he did. As they say, "he is what he is." To expect a 36 year old career backup to suddenly turn into a great QB is wishful thinking.

"3.....2.....1...." (<<<what's that, you ask?)....that's the countdown until the Browns either trade (if he has any ACTUAL value) OR release Johnny Clownboy.

I know it's Pettine's job to field media questions but I didn't envy him today. For once, the Cleveland media brought their "A game." Old Pettine was extremely uncomfortable sounding up there. Right out of the shoot, it was "Johnny this, and Johnny that." They only asked him about two questions about the actual game and yesterday's coaching gaffes would've been the opportune time to grill him on that. But no, it was ALL about Johnny.

Manziel's a distraction. The sooner he's gone, the better. It's one thing if you're Aaron Rodgers pulling this shit. He's not Aaron Rodgers. He's very expendable. Wouldn't surprise me if he's gone by the bye week if this bullshit keeps up.

Not surprised you would eat this shit up. Manziel as a distraction is clearly the reason the Browns choked away that game yesterday. McCown must have been thinking about poor Johnny relapsing when he threw that INT and gave up back to back sacks.

I think McClown was worrying about Gordon and his drinking, not JFF.

You guys eat this BS up. Its like during the spring when pundits were saying to cut Gordon, why? You don't learn anything from the past.

Manziel isn't going anywhere come on ease up on the hot takes BR
  • friendfromlowry
Is there even a team out there that would offer something in return to make it worthwhile for the Browns to trade him?
