No surprise there. Early in the season, it was looking like the line was making strides, but during that 5-game losing streak, they were horrible. It seemed like whenever it was a big-time down, other teams' defenses would be into the backfield in the blink of an eye.

I don't think Arians should go.

He made a few poor decisions but overall the offense had a good year.

I think they should take this draft and pile up defensively.

The offensive line is average but they can win with it, as they've shown.

Let's just bring in a bunch of studs on defense and get that back to being dominant.

Then if Polamalu and Smith return and a few others bounce back with better seasons, along with the rookies, they'll be deep as hell and awesome.

The offense is going to be fine with Roethlisberger, Mendenhall, Holmes, Wallace, Miller, Ward, etc.

I would like to see them pick up a f.a. corner and draft a LB and DL. They may have to find another RB depending on what Parker does.
I think Arians stays also being him and Ben has a solid relationship. Got to keep the QB happy.

I like Alterraun Verner from UCLA at cornerback.

I've seen him play a bunch of times and he does a good job playing the ball and breaking up passes.

I think he's better than some of the early projections, which have him as a 3rd or 4th rounder.

I just heard on the radio that the OL coach has indeed been let go.

Pittsburgh news just reported that Arians will be back for next season.
Ken Laird has some explaining to do.

    They need better sources ;)
  • GoPens
Yep, Ariens stays. Offensive line coach out.

Steelers need a CB and a RB. Mendenhall isn't bad but depending on Parker isn't an option anymore.

I think Parker will be gone. He told Tomlin that he wants to compete for a starting job.

I just now heard this on Mark Madden's show. He was giving ESPN all kinds of grief, if you could imagine.

Would of loved to of heard that.

Parker has also said that he wants to stay in Pittsburgh, even if it's in a back up role but wants at least the chance to compete for the starting job. IMO, there's no way in hell that Willie gets the nod over a 1st round draft pick in Mendenhall.

I think Pitt would be better off to cut ties with Willie and look for more viable options.

Willie is a good story and has gave fans some good memories, but it's time to move on. That's the nature of the business.

I'd let Parker go. He's not going to compete for No. 1 and the Steelers have Mewelde as insurance.

They could pick up another running back any number of ways.

I wonder how high Gerhart will go in the draft.

I don't know how good he'll be in the NFL but if he's there in the second round maybe you consider it.
  • Al Capone
Would love to have Gerhart. Should be interesting to see what they do with Hampton. I dont think they will pay big money for a guy that only plays on 1st and 2nd downs.
  • rock_knutne
IMO, if the Steelers want to draft a RB then it should be in round 3 or later. They have more pressing needs besides RB.

    Agreed.

I'm not sure yet about Mendenall long-term.

He has a lot of ability but I still think he's a little soft and might get banged up easily.

I'm still a big of Mewelde Moore, though.

I think if they can add a real bruiser to the mix it would be a nice trio.
  • rock_knutne
^^^^^Isn't Mendenhall suppose to be a bruiser, he's not exactly small.
  • Non
He weighs 225 but I don't think of him as a short yardage bruiser.

He has surprising speed and versatility, but not quite the hammering power.

There aren't many of those backs, though, in the NFL or in college coming into the draft.
