A 3rd and 5th, I'd take him but nothing higher than that.
So the Browns second round picks have done so well that you dont give up a 2nd round draft pick for the best Qb this town has seen since Kosar. Thanks goodness you are not the Browns GM.
    Yeah right about that.

Cleveland has these new guys named Holmgren and Hecket who may actually know how to draft. You cannot compare the previous FO crew to these guys, not even close.

I firmly believe that if they can get McNabb, a RG/RT, #1 WR and perhaps another RB, they can be a .500 team THIS year. Assuming they use multiple picks on the defense. Hell, they should have won 7 games (blew Detroit & Cincy games) this past year with that group of shitbags.
That is a lot of ifs in just one off season.

Where do you see the #1 WR coming from?

I don't like giving up high draft choices either. But if we get additional picks eleswhere and can get McNabb as well, I'm all for it. He would make us competitive right away.

    I look at like this:

How many losses would we be acquiring due to DA/BQ at the helm?

I say 4 minimum. Pick/sixes at crucial points in the game.

    Not really.

They could get McNabb, pick up Rob Sims to man the RG slot, draft a RT like Ciron Black in the 3rd round, and grab a stud RB (Best?) with their 2nd. They are still working on aquiring a WR via trade.

Use your 1st on defense (hopefully Berry) and any other picks left for defense too. Hopefully that may include another 2nd or two and anything else they grab, defensively, in FA.

It's not as difficult as it looks. They could field a pretty good team THIS year if the right moves are made.

That is a ton of IF's lol.

Also, I want no part in Best. He is a walking concussion just waiting to happen now imo. I'd rather take Mathews if available.

    It's not a ton of "if's."

Whether it's Black, Best, Mathews or whoever, the needs on the offensive side of the ball can be filled VERY quickly in ONE season with the rest of the picks left for defense . Not really rocket science.

It doesn't necessarily HAVE to be those players mentioned. With the depth of this draft there are interchangeable players that can fill the bill throughout.

If Holmgren & Heckert are everything a lot of us think they are, there's no reason this team has to suffer THIS year IF we have the right QB.

I hope they dont lose Vickers. IMO he is top 5 in the NFL

So far, nothing to worry about. At the level the 6 were tendered, no other team has set up visits with them yet. Rex Hadnot did meet with the god..... Broncos yesterday.

EDIT: Hadnot is expected to sing with the Donks in the next 24-48 hours.

Yes, its a lot of IF's.

First off, its an IF to draft some of the players we are mentioning. Heckert and Holmgren could go a totally different route than what he are hoping for. Secondly, its a huge IF to see if those guys actually pan out. Our luck hasn't been that great.

Then its an IF to trade for McNabb and a starting OL player.

Right now its a bunch of IF's and possibilities, I'll start to get excited when I see some movement.

Have trust and patience Devil....that's all we can do.

Oh I trust Holmgren and Heckert more than any combo of FO guys the Browns have had in a long time.

I just want to see some movement before I get excited!

Anything in return worthy of note for Hadnot?

He's unrestricted so we'll get nothing.

My earlier comment about the Browns reaching out to a "prominent" free agent and speculating that it was Thomas Jones was a blunder. I now found out that it's NOT a UFA that they reached out to but a RESTRICTED free agent of prominence. Hopefully this gets good.

    Any guess?

Oh man! I wonder who it would be! Any way its Marshall?
  • wes_mantooth
Good, I really don't want Thomas Jones, not even for free.
  • ytownfootball
Thanks...though not concerned we'll not be having his services, I'd rather not give anything to Denver.

I know it was mentioned before about Carr but seems like things might be heating up.

Now this seems more like a Holmgren type of move.

Negative. Marshall should be a Seahawk soon.
  • BR1986FB
Sounds like Thomas Jones will be a Lion.
  • BR1986FB
There are quite a few restricted free agent WR's that are pretty good.
