Pettine was not going be fired regardless of his decision.

Thankfully, with Pettine making the switch to Manziel, we won't find out.

If he went forward with Hoyer and they continued to lose, while they still had a small chance, it's likely Pettine's neck on the line more than Hoyer's, for being a stubborn dumbass ala his mentor Rex Ryan. I think that Pettine would've loved to stick with Hoyer but he had no choice because Hoyer was that bad.

And you give me shit for listening to sportstalk? Mike & Mike are the worst.
What makes you say any of that shit, other then you just can't give Pettine any credit?

I mean, you literally have no substance to back yourself up on that shit you just spewed.

Of course Pettine would have loved to stick with hoyer, they were fucking winning and he was playing well. Then, guess what dumbass? Hoyer played poorly and they were losing. So he made the change at the exact correct time. Only you could spin that into a negative. Well, you and fw and iggy who I assume are on their way.

So basically, congrats BR, you are now in the fw and iggy class.

If you don't think a coach/organization has a "plan" when it comes to handling their journeyman, veteran quarterback and their rookie quarterback, you're naive. I think they knew exactly what they were doing. I think Lynch's comments were spot on, and he's a guy who was in the league and saw things like this first hand. The last thing a team wants to do when drafting a QB in the first round is get them beat up mentally and shake their confidence. So much about the NFL comes from confidence, and I think this was handled very well.

He also wasn't quoting either of the radio heads, he was quoting their guest.

You really don't want to give Pettine credit. Hilarious

Not to mention I give people shit for listening to Cleveland radio guys

Mike and mike have regressed but they at least have good guests on the show.

And you don't listen to Cleveland radio so how would you know who they have on? They have national guys on all of the time. They just had Herm Edwards on and recently had Michael Irvin. Yesterday they had the guy who headed the committee for the selection of the final four for the college national championship. It's not just some local schmucks spewing their shit all afternoon.
  • Commander of Awesome
Jesus guys, fail on all of you for listening to BS radio. Mike and Mike sucks, so does Cleveland radio. /discussion

Now, on to the fucking game. But of drama queens in here.

Lol so you do like and listen to Cleveland radio. Glad you finally admit to that instead of your usual "I listen to satellite radio but it was broke today so I listened to Cleveland radio..." bullshit.

Umm, I said long ago that I let my subscription to Sirius expire and that I've been listening to 92.3 for awhile now.
  • Commander of Awesome
92.3 is just pathetic. It's like if Buttwedge and Iqqy had a radio show. SMH at you BR. Also, go to a fucking game.

I listen to their afternoon drive (Bull & Fox) and Ken Carman (who is really good). I try to avoid Kiley & Booms, who are the worst, but still catch bits and pieces. 92.3 is actually the best sportstalk in Cleveland, which isn't saying much. WKNR has become the JJ Huddle of Cleveland sports radio.

And no thanks on the game.
  • Commander of Awesome
BR's satellite subscription runs out, and he goes full retard. Strong correlation.

    Both of these.
At some point, the organization was going to go to Manziel unless Hoyer became the second coming of Tom Brady. There is plenty of history to suggest that rookie QBs that get thrown right into the fire get eaten alive or hurt or damaged. The Browns and Pettine have played it well. They ran with Hoyer and won, while JFF got his feet wet, learned the pro game and what was expected. Now it's time to see what he's got, especially since Hoyer has not been playing well.

I have nothing bad to say about Hoyer...he is what he is. I have no doubt that he has given his best effort, and I appreciate that he has confidence in his own abilities, even in the face of the adversity of the past few weeks. Any pro QB that didn't believe he was the "best" option, or believe in himself isn't an NFL QB.... period. I have no problem with Hoyer thinking that he still is as long as he accepts the role that the coach has given him.

Pettine has had a great first year as a coach. I think he still has a lot to learn especially with in game mangement, just as I think JFF will also have some learning to do. Pettine has handled the QB pretty admirably. The only thing where I think he screwed up was not getting Manziel in there last week, at least for a few series....and by that failure, cost the team a much needed win. There's no way that I can prove that...JMHO. All in all, he's done a great job coaching these guys "up".

So....anyone questioning the stubborn head coach is now in my class. Um OK. There should be a lot more in my class. People like Shook felt the need apologize to the "in" crowd before letting people know that he's excited about Manziel starting this Sunday. That's what this sorry ass site has come to. Pathetic. At least fat boy had the stones to switch allegiances after his stomach couldn't take it anymore watching the Brian Horror show. Like Shook, he also felt the need to apologize before voicing his slant to. Manziel. Iggypride and I were THE ONLY ones right regarding who should be playing quarterback. Someday Iggy and I will let you into "our class".

Most likely scenario is that the Browns win the next 2 and the finale could go either way. And should they win them all, there will be thousands of Browns fans calling for Pettine's head if they don't get in...and rightfully so.

Fellow Manziel nut hugger Aaron Goldhammer has it wrong on his show today. He was hacked off because Pettine wants Johnny to go through his progressions before he considers ad libbing. Godhammer thinks that doing this will handcuff Johnny Football. Bull. That's exactly what Johnny needs to do. Manziel will not become the perennial All Pro that I think he will be by running all the time. He will do it the same way Steve Young did it...throwing pin point passes. It's a passing league first.

Yesterday's PD article written by Terry Pluto showed that Manziel completed 74% of his passes at A & M when throwing from the pocket. 74%!!.

For all the Merryll Hoges' that spew their bullshit how the "franchise quarterback isn't on this roster", come back here in 3 weeks and take your whoopin.

My prediction this week is that a close game will quickly evolve into a rocking chair game for the Browns. I will be firing up my Red Auerbach victory cigar with about 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. The line opened up Cincy minus 2.5 according to the newspaper, Now the Browns are favored by 2 points. Announce Manziel as the starter and the line moves 4.5 points in Cleveland's favor. LNAO.

Already bet a copious amount of cash on this baby.

You are right, it is a passing league first and foremost. A QB ultimately will be judged on how he throws the football. The runs are nice and all, but if you cannot throw from the pocket you just wont consistantly get it done.

I look for JM to look to his first two options and then start to scramble.

We beat them on the road by 21 without Johnny Football and Gordon. Playing at home with those guys, we should win by at least 50.

You make it sound like there's never been a rookie quarterback that has succeeded right out of the gate. At the very minimum, Manziel should have been the starter in the Atlanta game...after Hoyer's pathetic game against Houston. And then....after a pile of puke performance against Atlanta, the stubborn coach STILL started Hoyer against the Bills.

After 3 weeks, this town will be pissed beyond belief regarding blowing a sure pop playoff shot.

On the Ken Carman show, Travis Gabriel was interviewed and he raved about Manziel's long balls in practice today. What? No air balls 15 yards off target?
