Colts at Browns

Gordon's only been back 3 games but he looks disinterested. Almost makes me wonder if he was one of the younger guys clamoring for Manziel to start and, when he didn't, kind of went into a little funk. It was baffling to see Gordon standing on the sidelines on a few 3rd & longs.
You know, this is probably stupid, but I wondered if some of his drops were a result of wanting Manziel to play. A little too much "conspiracy theory" for me to talk myself into, but I guess if that came out it wouldn't shock me. Oh, the joys of being a Cleveland fan...

I know. Thought the same thing (too conspiracy theorish) but it didn't seem like Gordon had issues getting in sync with Hoyer last year. And I know that Gordon's probably rusty after being off so long but it's just odd that your most explosive offensive weapon is standing on the sidelines (3rd & long) when you need him most.

Gordon does seem disinterested, maybe he needs some weed to focus ;)

Cleveland Browns — Performances of Note
    Brian Hoyer, QB: -3.3
Breakdown: The Browns gave Hoyer another chance this week instead of going with rookie Johnny Manziel and the move did not pay off. He didn’t play as poorly as recent weeks because he was able to hit on a few more deep passes, but Hoyer’s accuracy was still erratic at times. He missed open receivers on several occasions and a major reason for his inaccuracy was that he failed to set his feet or step into throws. Hoyer has now earned a -21.5 overall grade over the last four weeks, one of the worst stretches for a quarterback in PFF history.
Signature Stat: Hoyer’s 53.3% Accuracy Percentage was his second-lowest of the season (Week 11, 51.1%).
    Paul Kruger, OLB: +2.3
Breakdown: The bulk of Kruger’s work came as a pass rusher, where he picked up a sack/forced fumbled, a hit, and four hurries. He also had another sack that was nullified by his helmet-to-helmet hit on Luck and recovered a T.Y. Hilton fumble.
Signature Stat: Since Week 8, Kruger’s +9.7 Pass Rush grade is the second-highest among 3-4 outside linebackers.
    Joe Haden, CB: +5.3
Breakdown: Haden might be a bit of a surprise here considering two touchdowns did come against his coverage. However, on his other 11 targets, he allowed just four catches for 56 yards. Haden forced a fumble and had three pass defenses, one of which was nullified by penalty, and another coming on the final two point conversion attempt.
Signature Stat: Through Week 7, Haden’s -8.5 overall grade ranked 64th out of 68 cornerbacks that had played at least half of their team’s defensive snaps. In the seven weeks since Week 7, Haden has earned a +15.3 overall grade, second to only Darrelle Revis.

Well one thing is for sure, when your QB can't get it in the end zone you need your FG kicker to come away with some points.

Any news if they are going to bring in a kicker or what? This can't be acceptable and there has to be better options.

They had two in last week and stayed with Cundiff.

Heard a few people bitching about Haden giving up TD's yesterday. He's the LAST of the Browns worries. After a very slow start, he's bounced back to have probably his best season yet. He's been lights out in coverage over the past few weeks.

Adam the Bull melting down today. Will not tolerate anything less than Pettine naming Manziel as the starter today at 4:00. LMAO. Dustin, a proverbial Horror nut hugger, in total agreement.

    What we'll hear instead....

" Going to consult with the people I trust"
" the other 10 guys on offense didn't play well"
" need to review the film"
" discuss which people will give us the best chance to win, as we do every week"

    Blah, blah, blah, blah.

Adam the Bull is a blowhard psycho.

Just saw our very own Wes Mantooth post where he'd heard the Manziel Era starts on Sunday.....hope he's right.

I had great seats yesterday on the 45 yard line 15th row upper deck. The defensive backs absolutely blanketed the Colt receivers all day. Only a couple lapses. Even the final drive the secondary played well. The law of averages caught up to the team and Luck did his thing in the final 2 minutes.

Conversely, the Browns receivers were open for most of the day. As you correctly noted, the 2 trickeration plays put in by Shanahan yielded receivers 8-10 yards in the clear. You saw it, Horror missed them by 15 yards.

The Browns offense was handed 17 points not 14. I had forgotten about Leanard's pick and 35 yard return down to the Colt 23 yard line. With ANY kind of quarterback play the team is sitting pretty at 8-5, and priming for the biggest game in 7 years.

Anybody out there that doesn't think this team would be 8-5 had Pettine played the other quarterback, you should take up basket weaving on Sunday afternoons.

Is he anymore connected than you or I? I hope its true but would thought that would've leaked by now.

Hoyer is probably like....I had us winning 24-18 then the defense gave up a TD and we lost by 1.

You know, I watched his portion of the post-game presser, he legit takes zero credit for his pathetic play. That's the most frustrating part. If you blow, own up to it like a man. The respect some of these guys are showing him seems to be less and less deserved each passing game. I admit that up through this week, I thought he should be the starter, but I'm done with this guy. I don't have any time for people who can't own up to their mistakes.

I noticed this awhile ago. When he plays well, he puffs out his chest and will give the offense some props but when he shits the bed, it's always "we" not "me." Never takes the blame like he's some kind of Aaron Rodgers (talent level) or something.

"Law of averages" is right. Luck is just too damn good and the defense was spending too much time on the field after Cement Shoes was handing the Colts three and outs all afternoon.

The Browns gameplan was exceptional (defensively) and I think everyone knew that if they limited the three and outs they'd have a shot. Hoyer/Cundiff just screwed them over.

No clue but he did make the call on Hoyer getting the nod against Indy long before any of the national guys posted it.

Would have been shocked if Hoyer didn't start last week. Would be surprised, but not totally shocked, if he starts again this week.

Gotcha. Hoyer reminds me of Jay Cutler, but without the talent.

Pettine has already proven that playing the best player and prioritize winning is not his MO. So, I wouldn't be surprised either. He's in a no win situation. With the defense playing championship caliber ball the last several weeks, Manziel is quite capable of leading the team to a 3 game sweep. If that happens, the fans will never forgive him for trashing the season with his blind loyalty to Brian Horror.

Don't like people talking draft at this time of the season, but the Browns should consider drafting the Florida State kicker in the third round. The guy has 58 yard range and has hit over 90% for his career.
  • BR1986FB
Kickers & long snappers are a dime a dozen. They can get a reliable one late in the draft or undrafted. I won't say that "kicker is the least" of their worries because it is a problem but they can get a good one for much less than a 3rd rounder. If they burnt a 3rd rounder on a kicker, I'd start pulling at Ray Farmer's face to see if he was wearing a mask and was really Butch Davis after "Botch" burned a 4th on Ryan Pontbriand.

    This.

Fuck wasting a draft pick on kicker. There are a shit ton of them dying to get in the league. No need to waste a draft pick on them.
