Colts at Browns
-
se-alumThere's obviously a reason why Pettine isn't big on Manziel. Whether it's his knowledge of the playbook or his off the field behaviors. Manziel would be playing if Pettine thought he gave the Browns a better chance to win.

thavoiceIf Gordon catches that pass then HOyer just lead the team to ANOTHER win.
(then he had to play hurt like Limas Sweed did for the steelers years ago after a big drop) -

I agree with this, and keep in mind that the coaching staff wasn't huge on Manziel. Rather, reports said they were pressured into the pick by Haslam (large in part to make a bunch of money I'm sure). Manziel's MO in college was that he had a limited knowledge of the playbook and got away with it due to superior talent. Obviously, this has not changed in dramatic fashion as 3/4 of the way into the season he's still having issues with verbiage and play-calling. Quit using the "first round pick" garbage, because if you remember, we passed on him the first time AFTER WE TRADED DOWN. If they were that in love with him, they would have taken him. Rather, with a little pressure from ownership, they traded back up to 22 to take him. Keep in mind, the 22nd overall pick has not worked out well for the Browns, not that this is reason to prevent him from getting a shot, but it's certainly not working in our favor either lol.se-alum;1684049 wrote:There's obviously a reason why Pettine isn't big on Manziel. HitsRusNo way does Haslam pull the plug on Pettine. Who the F*** would want to come in here and coach? If he pulls the same shit he did with Chud last year.
Forget Harbaugh....more likely to take the Michigan job. -
DeyDurkie5Br is talking about the season like it's done. Worry about him replacing pettinne after the season. Why the fuck is this convo happening now? It's pointless and stupid. Let's talk about cinci and the fact that if we win out we have a shot at the playoffs

I would bring something to the table if there was something to talk about. But we have the retards fw and iggy spewing their usual bullshit. And now we have to do deal with the new doom and gloom poster (you) posting about shit that won't fucking happen. Pettine is going nowhere. If he finishes 9-7, which is very possible, he will finish in the 5-7 in coach of the year. Yet, here you are talking about him being fired for losing a game he was an underdog in and was supposed to lose.BR1986FB;1684027 wrote:As usual, bringing nothing to the table.
Haslam has shown he's got a hair trigger. If someone like a Harbaugh, etc became available and Pettine stubbornly stuck with Hoyer (team ending up 7-9, after 7-4 at one point), I don't think Haslam pulling the trigger would be a shocker. Haslam has already shown he's not exactly a man of patience when it comes to winning and Pettine (along with Hoyer) left a few wins on the table this year.
It's funny how someone can bring a thought to the table and it's interpreted to mean "ohhh, BR thinks they are going to fire Pettine." I never said that. Haslam has a track record of pulling the plug on things quickly. Yeah, the 7 wins are better but the NFL is a "what have you done for me lately" kind of league and if what has been done lately is ending the year on a 5-6 game losing streak, I'm sure Haslam's thoughts could change on Pettine.
Again, bring something worth talking about to the table, or keep your shit on the OBR. -
thavoiceNO way pettine would be fired after this season unless some internal stuff is going on.
Over .500 with a QB who barely completes 50+ perecent of his passes and your best WR out all year. -
Dr. KnOiTaLL
Agreed, and you forgot to mention 2 rookie RB's, losing a pro bowl center, and a decimated defensive line. I think Pettine is doing a phenomenal job with the hand he's been dealt. Are there areas for him to improve significantly? Absolutely, but I see potential for a great coach. In-game management needs work, but the guy CERTAINLY has his defense in order now, and I see them continually improving. Remember how terrible Buster Skrine has been the last few years? Outside of a few plays this year, he's been great. We're headed in the right direction, we just have to get this offense figured out.thavoice;1684061 wrote:NO way pettine would be fired after this season unless some internal stuff is going on.

Agreed on the Cavs thing. As for wrecking the league, someday we're gonna find out. Plenty of brilliant football people think he will wreck the league.BR1986FB;1684021 wrote:Even if Manziel is "so so" throwing the ball, what he can do with his feet is going to create opportunities for the offense. I'm not saying he's going to "wreck the league" but I can't imagine he could make things much worse (offensively) for them.
And I'm sure it's been mentioned but if this Jay Glazer report about JFF not getting the start against Indy because he was at the Cavs game Tuesday night is true, Pettine is a schmuck. -

Yeah, because your three word quips are definitely "dropping the knowledge." And I don't read the OBR. Haven't been on that site in over 6 months. You want OBR info, ask Iggy.SportsAndLady;1684060 wrote: Again, bring something worth talking about to the table, or keep your shit on the OBR. -

SMH. You people really do crack me up. Brian Horror plays because Pettine is a stubborn fool. It's that simple. You say the coaches don't like Johnny...bullcrap. Shanahan and Loggains absolutely love the guy. You...and the other Manziel haters never watched the kid play at A & M. For the umpteenth fuggin time....He and his offense destroyed the eventual national champs in their house. A Bama defense that had 8 players drafted into the NFL. Johnny beat them with his arm....and his feet.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1684055 wrote:I agree with this, and keep in mind that the coaching staff wasn't huge on Manziel. This crap that he hasn't proven to Pettine that he's the better call means nothing. Plenty of coaches have been dead wrong on evaluating quarterbacks. -

If there was actual genuine, realistic discussion on here I wouldn't drop three word quips. When there is discussion to be had, I'll contribute.BR1986FB;1684077 wrote:Yeah, because your three word quips are definitely "dropping the knowledge." And I don't read the OBR. But saying "joe Haden won't be released but with this front offices reputation for cutting players (see: Ben Tate), it wouldn't surprise me to see them let him go" isn't actually contributing anything of value. -
Dr. KnOiTaLLLet's get to an issue that needs addressed today. Billy Cundiff HAS to go. As poorly as Hoyer has played the past few weeks, we'd had 2 more wins if Cundiff could make typically automatic kicks. Then we'd be sitting at 9-4 in control of the division.

When they first signed C#ntlip I think I had an "over/under" on how many games they'd lose due to him shanking gimme FG's. I think he dodged the bullet last year but it's finally surfaced this year. Dude is horrible. Baltimore missing a Super Bowl due to him can attest to that.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1684088 wrote:Let's get to an issue that needs addressed today. Billy Cundiff HAS to go. Cundiff is awful. There is a reason he's been with 12 different teams over his career. Serviceable kicker, sure but he's garbage now.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1684088 wrote:Let's get to an issue that needs addressed today. Billy Cundiff HAS to go. After having a solid kicker for so many years, I was like WTF really? There are high school and college kids way better then him.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1684092 wrote:When we signed him I believe my words were, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" -

They were looking at Dan Carpenter but Buffalo signed him without even trying him out. I have no idea why they didn't bring in Prater for at least a look.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1684092 wrote:When we signed him I believe my words were, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" -

Before he even lined up for that 40 yarder yesterday, I said "this putz is going to miss it." It seems like his last few misses he's been pushing the ball to the right (from your TV screen).Ytowngirlinfla;1684094 wrote:After having a solid kicker for so many years, I was like WTF really? I think it's more frustrating watching him miss NFL chip shots then watching Hoyer shit the bed. It irritates me because we used to kick field goals for years every time we were in the red zone now we can't even kick field goals. Ugh...BR1986FB;1684098 wrote:Before he even lined up for that 40 yarder yesterday, I said "this putz is going to miss it." This is what I didn't get. Prater was known as one of the best in the league before his suspension. Interesting to not even take a look.BR1986FB;1684096 wrote:They were looking at Dan Carpenter but Buffalo signed him without even trying him out. Not to mention that, minus Alex Mack, Hoyer pretty much had his whole offense back (Cameron returning). He still looked like crap.HitsRus;1683998 wrote:Not only was his performance abyssmal, it was against an absolutely terrible defense. Hoyer should have been pulled mid way thru the 3rd quarter, if not earlier..... Just another bone head, in game move to add to Pettine's resume.
Gordon's only been back 3 games but he looks disinterested. Almost makes me wonder if he was one of the younger guys clamoring for Manziel to start and, when he didn't, kind of went into a little funk. It was baffling to see Gordon standing on the sidelines on a few 3rd & longs. -

I know. The person I was watching the game with said "Phil Dawson would've made that one" to which I replied "Hell, Rosario Dawson would've made that one, Cundiff sucks."Ytowngirlinfla;1684099 wrote:I think it's more frustrating watching him miss NFL chip shots then watching Hoyer shit the bed. Plus, it's not like Prater was a dome kicker. He was aided by the high altitude in Denver but they don't always play in the best conditions. Cold weather kicker would've fit in well here.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1684101 wrote:This is what I didn't get. Prater was known as one of the best in the league before his suspension.
