The Angels are the front runner. Or did you not remember them because your Tigers were too busy getting pounded by a depleted Orioles squad.

Tigers are not front running shit

Besides their fans who are apparently major front runners (read: cavs and tigers fan?)

Ha who the hell is going to pitch for them? Richards is coming off of a very serious injury and Skaggs is out for the season with Tommy Johns. Detroit has a better rotation and their lineup has 6 guys who hit .270 or higher last season while the Angels had only 4.

But I remember losing to the Orioles, as much as I remember winning a 4th consecutive division title last season

I cant believe you still get excited about Division Titles.

I think Cleveland won 2 and failed to win a WS before I stopped claiming as some great feat. You win a Division to make the postseason...if you fail there, you should not be clamoring about at least we have 4 Division titles.

Classy is an idiot though, so it's not surprising.

Edit: I need to reiterate--the Tigers got DESTROYED by a DEPLETED squad. Suck it Classy

I'm hearing Strasburg is "very available"
  • Ironman92
Hey Guise I buy all Division Championship shirts and hats

I would think so. I don't know how the Nats could afford both he and Scherzer. Boras will be looking for multiple Brinks trucks for Strasburg.

Always thought more teams should do this.
Seemed like it became popular for a bit and dropped off. Reds are paying him until 2014 and the last year is a lump sum of 16.5 million.
I can see both sides of it. Imagine 16.5 million in 2024 wont seem so bad but it isnt a great practice to do often to multiple players.

I am not sure how the reds factor that into their team salary. It really is like buying something you cannot afford on a credit card.

Of course you cant really do it for more than 1 or 2 players. But, if you have a window like the Nats that is relatively large (on paper, they should have a chance for the next 5+ years) but feel you are that 1 stud away from getting it done...Im all for it. You cannot afford that guy on a per year basis, but at 50% off, you can get him??? Make it happen and deal with the repercussions later.

The big news today is the nats signed scherzer (easily the tigers best pitcher the last two years), and somehow classy turns the discussion into how the Tigers are now the front runners even after losing their best pitcher. LOL, what a needy little bitch.
  • Ironman92
All 5 of the Nats starters are in the top 35 in batter's OPS allowed

I mean at least I go through life not angry at a person because of the team they root for? Lets be honest, you Indians and Reds fans would kill to have the talent the Tigers do on their roster.

As for front runner, I said if Verlander returns to form they would because that would be the same as replacing Scherzer. That's a big if too, but even more important is the dreadful bullpen

I would prefer not to have a team that can't win consistently against teams with less talent. If the Tigers couldn't even win with Scherzer at his best, I don't know what logic would tell you that replacing him would make them favorites to win.
  • Laley23
And we had more talent than the Tigers for damn near a decade. We didn't win shit. We acknowledge the team, ultimately, failed and it pisses us off. You seem to be happy with it...

If A-Rod, Tex, CC, Beltran all return to form the Yankees could win 150 games.

155 games max though. They play the Tigers 7 times and the Tigers are going 162-0. HAVE YOU SEEN THAT ROSTER?! HAVE. YOU. SEEN?!

Reading has nothing to do with the fact your u have to bring up Detroit whenever it is completely irrelevant to the topic being discussed. Keep trying to hide the fact your are either a needy little bitch.

Lol exactly why I called him a needy bitch. Their best pitcher leaves his team and somehow he wants to talk about how that makes the Tigers the front runners lol fail.

ha it's not completely irrelevant to bring up Detroit considering they just lost a key pitcher that we were discussing

It doesn't make us front runners. I'm just saying they can still be a serious contender with the loss of him

I think, as far as Detroit's concerned, the most important topic of discussion is: How many teams with much smaller payrolls will finish with a superior or comparable record this year?

Two odd thingson the news....Saw Dontrelle Willis signed a ML deal and hadnt pitched in a few seasons. Was amazed he was only 33!

    Arod working out with......Barry Bonds.
Seriously? Get suspended for a season because of all that shit, and then train with one of the poster childs for it?
  • lhslep134
Bonds is also one of the best hitters of all time. Not surprised people want to work on him on that matter.

I know it's not a surprise Pedro's going in with a Sox cap but I would have liked to see him go in with an Expos hat.

Best hitter doesnt necessarily mean best coach of hitting.
