Moerelli(sp?) said the head linesman made the call to pick it up. And that he(Moerelli) "probably" announced it too quick.

That story was true, but it came out during the preseason if I remember correctly.

Oh ok....don't care then an no need to lose a job.

But can't imagine anyone that cares about the NFL wants to see anyone associated with officiating partying with any team.

Lions choked. Like the Bengals they haven't won a playoff since 1991. Sanders was in like his 4th year and Bo Jackson was the Rb facing the Bengals....in his last football game

Wow 97.1 in Detroit is just nuts, can't believe that happened. Just took the wind right out of the Lions sails.

Also fuck you guys, last time the Browns had a playoff game I watched it on my fucking basic TV with analog cable

    No it was just 2003

Funny hearing some of the official people back pedaling on that PI call.

There is no face guarding, so Mike Ditka was way, way off this morning on M/M. There was contact and I have seen much less called this year. I woulda called it but could have justified it not being called. IN live action it looked much worse than it did on the replay.
  • Wally
I would swear Skrine got called for faceguarding multiple times this year. Anyway-no way a Brown would ever get close to getting away with that contact.
  • Sonofanump
Face guarding is a high school rule only.
Significant contact with material restriction must be made.
If they are both pushing on each other, nothing is to be called.
A defender chasing a receiver only make him suspect for a potential foul, not that a foul will occur.
Once the ball in flight touches a player, inference rules no longer apply.

They announcers may have said faceguarding but there is no actual rule saying you cant

Face guarding is not allowed in college either. Also, nobody is mentioning the face mask by Pettigrew on the play where he pulled the defender toward him.

You are absolutely incorrect with your statement. Must be contact under the NCAA rulebook.

What Skrine gets called for is illegal contact beyond 5 yards.

Surprised there is no bengals thread about this weekend.

Game was as boring of a playoff game as I have watched! I got home in time to see the second half. Daltons numbers looked OK in the first, but he just isnt throwing guys open.
I hate when announcers, and Simms did it and should know better, say 'well there is no one open' when they show the secondary. They stop the video, show the guys covered. Such BS.
All nfl qb's throw the ball many times before the cut. The separation to be open in the nfl isnt big, hell sometimes its just body positioning. Good QB's throw the guy open. WR gets the defender on his hip and the QB leads him away from it. You see it all the time. Dalton just doesnt have that sort of moxie to perform in the big ones.

He probably heard/read that it was. ESPN had an article saying it was illegal in college as well, but it is not as you say. Hell, Ditka this am even said that it shoulda been called because he was face guarding him.

Oh, I know. Just saying he very well could have got that incorrect information from reading ESPn last night or what some said this morning as I heard it as well.

Kevin Seifert had a great write up of the 4 calls that were missed on that one play. se-alum I've mentioned the missed facemask since the play happened and Seifert does as well. It's sucks because no where is showing the replay of where you can see it.

The refs were horrible both ways in the Cowboys/Lions game. And from what I watched of the others they weren't much better in those.

Looks like the Rams could be moving. The proposed deal looks pretty good. No tax dollars, private companies/investors paying for it all and the surrounding development.

Rams lease could move year to year if determined they are not making progress on a deal.

Some wonder how Andy Dalton conducts himself vocally in the huddle and if he exudes confidence.

Although this is just a 5 second clip of the pregame, it is a bit funny and not real, um, inspirational or motivating.

    Actually kinda funny....

I dont mind going to a baseball game and having some good eats but for NFL games........not so much! Usually too much during tailgating and just maybe a dog and a beer in the stadium.
I did though have a rack of ribs once at the bengals/packers game. We decided the night before to go (steelers played MNF that week) and scalped club seats and they come down to take your order and everything. Did get fooled though this year and got a Primanti's sandwich at Heinz field for the browns/steelers game. Every time I try it I hope to like their food but just always end up hating it.
