Battle of Ohio---- Reds @ Indians.
-
HitsRusThe split 4 game series opens with the 1st two games in Cleveland...
The Native Americans will send Kluber (11-6, 2.61) to the hill against the CinComm's Simon (12-6, 2.84) in the lid lifter.
Can anyone tell me who was the dumbf*** that scheduled this series during the week? Usually, the attendance would be boosted by opposing fans traveling to their intrastate rivals ball park.... Not easy to do without taking a day or two off work. -
Ironman92The boring ass Reds have kept pretty good attendance even thru their woeful offense. I was at the Wednesday 12:35 getaway game and was around 27,000.
The rival thing has lost it's lure to me....I'm more interested because I get to watch a different team for 4 games and watch guys like Brantley, Kluber, Kipnis, Gomes and Lonnie.
Reds pitching is legit but scoring 2 runs has been a challenge. Indians fans will get the pleasure in watching 2 of the worst everyday players in Zack Cozart (very solid SS) and Skip Schumaker (OPS under .600 and is rangeless on defense)
Players you probably don't know much about.... Jumbo Diaz big guy comes in about 270 and has lost 70 lbs and played forever in the minors....but he is a very good reliever I hope you will see in 7th/8th innings. Throws about 97-99mph
Billy Hamilton has struggled of late but will make you scratch your head in amazement of how fast he is....GG caliber in CF
Devin Mesoraco....really figuring out how to be a big player. -
Ironman92Reds also have 2 of the top 6 winningest pitchers age 26 or younger
Kershaw 90 (26)
Porcello 74 (25)
Cahill 62 (26)
Bumgarner 61 (24)
Latos 58 (26)
Leake 51 (26) -
mhs95_06They used to do 3 home and 3 away, on two consecutive weekends so all 6 games were on weekends. But I guess with expanded interleague play now with 15 in each league trying to play more inter league games, they only have rivals play 2 and 2. So with that not being able to be all weekend games, they compromised by making them both weekday games and back to back.
-
HitsRus^^^Poor compromise. A lot of people would make the trek, spend the nite, etc. If they are going to bill it as the Battle of Ohio and award the Ohio cup yearly...they ought to make it at least possible for people to make fun weekend out of it, otherwise, it's just another 4 games. In the scheme of things, it's not that important, but stuff like this was touted as a reason and a plus for interleague play.
-
Ironman92I still like interleague. I always watch the Reds when their on....only watch other games if they don't overlap. I like seeing the league.

Lets be real, most baseball fans follow their teams and whom their team is playing. Sure, hard core people will watch more but for most people with the reds playing every night they devote their time tothem and whomever they are playing. Not like the NFL where you watch your team, and then also SNF, MNF, TNF and such and get to see alot of other teams.
I enjoy the IL play, always have. -
Ironman92MLB Network shows several games a week and Sunday Night Baseball...to keep me updated on everyone a bit. I catch some White Sox games on WGN

Oh i know..just with the reds every night it is tougher to follow other MLB teams when you have a few hours every night devoted to one team.Ironman92;1641275 wrote:MLB Network shows several games a week and Sunday Night Baseball...to keep me updated on everyone a bit. The next day in the box scores I look for local guys and how they did but other than that..just too busy to follow it like football -
BRFI thought this was the Indian thread.

TBone14I don't mind mingling with the Reds fans. It's the Tigers fan that rub me the wrong way.
Should be fun series, always is with these clubs. Both teams are pretty desperate at this point. -
WallyI like interleague play. The Tigers usually do pretty well. I know-nobody cares about the Tigers….and I do think it is stupid that the Pirates are their "rivalry" team….
I hope Swisher hits a walk-off to win the Ohio Cup-would be rather fitting. Then gives the fans on O-H-I-O. -

You catch the White Sox games just to time the Dunner from home to first, though usually the only way he reaches first is via walk or home run.Ironman92;1641275 wrote:MLB Network shows several games a week and Sunday Night Baseball...to keep me updated on everyone a bit. Would be fitting if Mr. Bro-h-i-o would put on a show this series...unfortunately (fortunately) Swisher is day to day with a mild wrist injury that caused him to be removed from yesterday's game in the 6th inning. Prior to the injury, Swish had obtained the 'silver sombrero'...striking out 3 times against the ranger's Yu Darvish.Wally;1641305 wrote:I like interleague play. The Tigers usually do pretty well. Allen, on Atchison tagging out Andrus/QUOTE]
The Tribe's 38 year old reliever with the gray hair, Scott Atchison ran down the speedy Andrus in a rundown Saturday night. -
HitsRusI have nothing against Red's fans, and I consider the Reds my "National league team" The only time I root against them is when they play my Tribe.
The only baseball fans I really dislike are Yankee fans with no connection to NYC itself. -

So someone has to have a connection to a city just to be a fan?HitsRus;1641314 wrote: The only baseball fans I really dislike are Yankee fans with no connection to NYC itself. -

LoL. I actually have no issues with true Tigers fans. Living in the Toledo area, when the Indians were good, it seemed like it was 70/30 Tribe to Tigers. Since the Tigers have had their resurgence, it is about 80/20 Tigers. So my issue is with the bangwagon NWO folks rooting for the Tigers. Also, my issue is with bartenders making faces when I demand they turn the Indians game on. We don't need the Tigers on every TV.Wally;1641307 wrote:Lol-didn't even see this when I posted...... -

Of course not! It just means I'll think they are a frontrunning yankee fan.So someone has to have a connection to a city just to be a fan? -

BRFUh oh, Kluber at 50+ pitches after 4 innings.
1-0 Tribe. -
TBone14Lonnie gives the Tribe some early cushion. 3 run bomb for the good guys. 4-0
Would love if Lonnie would catch fire here. -
TBone14
He's going to have a hard time going all 9 tonight. Might be a below average 7 or 8 inning outing for him.BRF;1641357 wrote:Uh oh, Kluber at 50+ pitches after 4 innings.
