Tonight's lineup is crazy. Maybe it will work out, I got faith Tito!!!
  • TBone14
Did Brantley get hurt yesterday and I missed it?

House is not good. We don't have a better option?

The 4 days off prior to the Detroit series must have just been too much for Brantley.... Come on Tito, it is an 11 game (10 day) stretch with another off day coming up. Stupid. Masterson is pitching another rehab game on Friday, hopefully he is back and playing better soon. Down 2-0 early.
  • Laley23
House is terrible. I dont know how he ever gets anyone out.

Brantley is getting his ASG rest...since he didnt actually get a break, and then played 4 games in 3 days vs Detroit. I assume Tito wanted to give him a break immediately, but couldnt because the team we were playing was Detroit.

If you have every traveled, you know he didnt get a day off. Travel to Minny, then ASG media obligations, then ASG, then travel to Detroit. I dont care if its an hour flight, its draining.

Asdrubal coming out of the game, was in pain last inning. Not good
  • iclfan2
    Dickerson staying hot

I say very good. I dont want him playing everyday down the stretch.

Agree to disagree. He isn't flying coach and waiting in line for his flight to minnesota (which isn't far) like us commoners would. I also don't think sitting in the dugout for 9 innings is any more relaxing than actually playing in the game. 4 or 5 at bats and a few catches in the outfield? Doesn't strike me as that taxing.

It is definitely not even close to the same as sitting at home with your family watching TV and having time off. He did not get a true break from the game like the rest of the team did.

I agree, but sitting there tonight isn't a break either. I bet he still went through the same motions as everyone else. I might be downplaying the stress of the game, etc, just don't know how much of a break not playing one night is.

I agree it isnt the same as the real break would be.

But, I think the rationale is, he didnt get the typical midseason break, so Ill give him a day off tonight. I dont really agree, cause I dont see how guys cant play in all of them (unless they are slumping), but I understand the thought process.

Lindor has been called up to AAA, which means Ramirez is likely to come up and replace Asdrubal.
  • GOONx19
    Tied up, top of 8.
  • GOONx19
    Shaw sucks.
  • vball10set
Yeah, Laley, Shaw is "really solid"...he blows.
  • Laley23
lol. Ok, 3 HRs on the year. 2.62 ERA primarily in the 8th inning. 39/13 K/BB.

Career: 3.08 ERA in 4 years (2.54, 3.49, 3.24 and 2.62). You guys are fucking delusional (or trying a retarded reverse jinx since the damage was already done).
  • TBone14
You guys cannot be serious. Shaw is like 4-2 now with an ERA of 2.62. 3/1 k to bb ratio.

Guy made a bad pitch and Hammer didn't miss it. Need more than 3 runs to win.

2 winnable games to finish the series. Shake this one off.

Was typing mine as you posted this.

Without doing any research, I would venture to say Shaw is one of the top 10 best 8th inning men in baseball. No clue how you guys think he sucks and dont want him to be in the game when its on the line. Just because he doesnt have the Cody Allen "stuff" doesnt mean he isnt very good. And it isnt like he doesnt have good stuff either. Over 7K/9IP.

Best part of this game is Asddrubal got hurt..hope he's on the shelf for 6 weeks.

Not only that, Willingham should have been struck out on the pitch before, but the umpire didn't give him the corner. I don't say that is an excuse, because you have to deal with bad calls, but Shaw is a pretty solid reliever.
I can't say I was happy with the lineup Tito put out there last nite.... nothing like giving back all the gains we made in Detroit. ...now 6 1/2 back again.

Hold your breath for Salazar's start. He has allowed 8 ER in his last five starts (31IP) at Columbus (2.32 ERA).

    I still say he'll be a closer.
  • TBone14
I don't understand the hate for Asdrubal either. Defensively, he hasn't had a great year. I'll give you that. Offensively, not spectacular but he hasn't been bad.

He leads all AL shortstops in home runs (9). He is 3rd in RBI (39) behind Aybar (50) and Ramirez (42). He also leads in runs (52-tied with Reyes).

If he doesn't miss time due to leaving the game yesterday and stays healthy, he will end up around 15-18 HRs, 70 RBI and around 90 runs coming out of the 2 hole.
