World Cup 2014

Laley23As a complete side note: DeAndre Yedlin is gonna be a freaking stud for the USMNT. If he stays at CB, he and Johnson will have to decide who moves to the left, cause they will both be on the field.
-
AutomatikYeah I like him. He got caught out of position a few times at first but a great showing for his first taste of the WC. The kid has wheels.
-
gorocks99What Jurgen did with him was awesome too, give him reign to go up that side on the offensive; as the fastest player on the field, coming on late, he provided a definite spark. Agree he is going to be a stud going forward if he continues on his trajectory.
-
Laley23When he caught up to the Portugal winger (forget who it was...) after being like 10 yards behind him was insane. Didnt win the ball, but the last second pressure forced a terrible pass which the US defense corralled and started back the other way. I dont know if Jurgen will mold him into a MFer since he and Johnson both play on the right, and Johnson has the spot on lock it appears, but either way, moving forward, he will have a spot.
Personally, Id like to have him at a CB position, if for no other reason than the US defense is terrible in comparison to what they produce at other positions. He helps more there. Id love to have a Brazil type defense where both CBs move forward freely and have 2 CBs (Jones/Beckerman) fill their spots when they do. Creates soooo many scoring opportunities when they get behind the defense. -
ohiobucks1He's not phsyical enough to play CB IMO. Let him lock down LB with Fabian at Right back for the next 2 WC.

I see the USMNT being pretty fucking tough in general for the 2018 cycle.Laley23;1629114 wrote:As a complete side note: DeAndre Yedlin is gonna be a freaking stud for the USMNT. If he stays at CB, he and Johnson will have to decide who moves to the left, cause they will both be on the field. -

Agreed. Look at all the players that are going to be close to their primes in 18.
Besler - 30
Cameron - 32
Chandler - 28
Gonzales - 29
Yedlin - 24
Bedoya - 30
Bradley - 30
Diskerud - 28
Zusi - 31
Altidore - 28
Green - 22
Johanson - 27
Just from this squad alone, we could make a good starting 11. That doesnt include any of the new guys who are coming up the pipeline, such as Trapp, Rubin, Gooch, Gall, Vazquez, Amick, the new GK crop, etc.
We are positioned to have a great team in the '18 cycle. -

I call CB my Corner Backs, lol. I didnt mean Center. I should probably change that habit...ohiobucks1;1629124 wrote:He's not phsyical enough to play CB IMO. Let him lock down LB with Fabian at Right back for the next 2 WC. -

haha da fuq is a corner back. But agreed now that I re-read your post. -

lol, stems all the way from my early days. Coach was a doofus, but used a diamond defense and called them "corner backs" instead of halfbacks or fullbacks, for some reason I cant shake it, even though I know its wrong and I hate it.ohiobucks1;1629131 wrote:haha da fuq is a corner back. I call them right back and left backs, but for some reason when I type it, I just defer to CB... -

Fair enough. Either way, our D should actually be our strong suit in 18. -
Laley23Netherlands Brazil would be a fun match to start the knockout rounds. If Chile...er...Sanchez can win this match, thats what we will likely get.

No shit, I took it that way too, and I already addressed how I felt it may affect the team Thursday...now it's time to gtf over it and move on.like_that;1629109 wrote:I'm with lhslep. I hate this line of thinking. This is more of a post World Cup discussion topic. I'm still pissed they tied and actually concerned how they react to this. That's as big of a gut punch you can get with a tie. It pretty much felt like a loss, and now they have to play a too German team who already is pissed they got waxed by the US in last years friendly. We will see what this team is made of on Thursday. -

I really want to like him, cause he is a great human being, but he is just such a bitch on the field that I cant root for him.
Still, thats a pretty cool gesture that everyone was making fun of him for...yet he didnt say why he did it and bring attention to himself.

He did pay for the kids surgery though, that is 100% true. So, it isnt out of the world to think he would be somewhat close to the kid and do that.
Not saying one way or the other, but I wouldnt be surprised either way. -

I haven't really seen him play much - but when he has the ball he looks better than anyone on the field. He got one good opportunity to make a play in space and it cost us a win.Laley23;1629164 wrote:They didnt really debunk it, just said it isnt sourced past that one article.
