I don't think it would have made any difference. I've never understood the subs/faking injuries to kill extra time. It always gets added back on.

Even if they would have left what they said at 4 minutes, I assume the referee still would have added the time in on his own and blown a later whistle to end it

That's what I was trying to say. The Portugal attack started at about 94:25. It wouldn't have gone to 95 if the US had cleared, but he's not going to blow the whistle before the ensuing kickoff. I really don't think there's a complaint to be had in that regard.

It doesn't matter. I'm fuckin sick right now. I can't watch the game thursday which makes me even more pissed.

yes I agree it gets added back but you can't change the clock from 4 to 5. Honestly I wasn't paying much attention as I was in nervous mode the entire extra time.

This is where we disagree. Ive seen a ton of subs made in extra time and not seen the time added on. The whistle, imo, should have blown before Bradley even makes his 1st touch.

So in 25 seconds of play, there was NO opportunity to end it?

    I'll wait.

Who gives a fuck about the added stoppage.

538's predictions have been updated...US chance to advance up to 76% (from 64%).

At the end of the game like that, Bradley just needs to take a touch and kick it over the Portugal end line. No need to try and turn around with the ball like he did.

If any of us were shown these group standings before the WC started we would be ecstatic. Lets move on to Germany!

Exactly. I'm still enraged about it. Use your fucking head and make right play, game over.

    Green, advance. Red, go home.

What? There was no REASON to stop it, because the US tried to kill time with a slow sub. The ref always adds time back on in those situations, whether or not it's official. It wasn't going to end right at 94, but it wouldn't have kept going if the US had possession in Portugal's end 30-45 seconds later.

It's not unusual and not something to cry about.

    Bottom line right here.

And extremely encouraging as a country to 100% be the better team versus Germany.

So it looks like we need to stand in the middle with Germany and just pass it back and forth with them for 90 mins. Make it happen guys!

I hate this line of thinking. While you may be right in theory, the ACTUAL facts dictate a different emotion: blowing what was sure passage into the round of 16.
  • Laley23
God, why couldnt Germany just beat Ghana? They would have less to play for and Portugal would have to win by 4, at least.

I don't see a W forthcoming, but I hope we go balls out for one.

Looking ahead, Algeria/Russia and France/Nigeria is a couple of manageable games in the knockout round, although France looks amazing so far. Belgium and Argentina would suck dick.

But at the end of the day I guess getting to that point is the most important thing.
  • Laley23
Belgium looks very beatable, imo. Their defense can be had. They have a ton of talent though, and could easily find themselves by the RD of 16. But, they dont look great at the moment.

I'm probably jaded because I was at the match in Browns stadium when they ran a train on us. So much talent. But yeah, they've been less than impressive so far. As has Argentina, really. Just going purely off of talent.
