Tribe vs Red Sox (Series Thread)

What a great AB by Chiz. Mightve single handily gotten Peavy out of the game after this inning...
  • Laley23
    That was quick.
  • vball10set
    This. Is. Not. Good.
  • iclfan2
Quicker throw by Murphy and better throw by Chiz would have had him gunned at the plate. Ugh not a good start to the 7th
  • Laley23
Atchison looks awful. Shaw is probably unavailable as is Allen, I would assume...
  • Laley23
Why dont infielders ever drop the ball on the infield fly and see if the runners are dumb enough to run?
  • vball10set
    Hagadone? Oh no...
  • TBone14
Achtison has been struggling of late. Three runs in the first was never going to hold up.

Does Hagadone work out of this one?

Furthermore, with a speedy runner on 1st and say a catcher up and a pop to the middle infield. They never let it drop to get the force at 2nd base. By they, I mean any professional baseball players.
  • TBone14
Hagadone gets it done. Need some damn runs.
  • Con_Alma
2 on nobody out. Please, please move the runners over.
  • Con_Alma
    That was pitiful.
  • Laley23
Bunting continues to be the worst play, statistically, in baseball.

    Another good one...

Although, on that, I would be somewhat worried that the ball might have crazy spin and shit. But on the infield fly, you already have the out for sure.
  • Laley23
Holy Shit, Andrew Miller is still in the MLB?

On an infield fly it is no doubt. Why bother even catching it?

You open yourself up for disaster in my scenario but they can just deflect the ball towards 2nd...pick it up and make the toss or step on the bag. Don't just let it drop...control the missed catch.
  • vball10set
    Bourn!
  • iclfan2
Hell yes Bourn. Aviles was on Gomes butt!
  • Laley23
Michael Bourn is white hot the last month. What is he batting since the start of May?
  • Con_Alma
    come on. Get another here.

    Gotcha.

Didnt they outlaw that play on soft liners? I wonder if they would do the same in your scenario.

He had to redeem himself after that lousy bunt...and he did!

I wouldn't know. I have never even seen anybody try it.

On a pop-up I never have. But we had some guys try to catch-drop liners that were hit soft enough to do so to try to turn 2 or 3. MLB gave the umpires discretion on a ruling that would allow them to essentially use the infield fly on those plays, even with only 1 on.

    I agree.
